chorizo sandwich is yum and comes with parmesan fries.
braised beef pasta is flavorful but is yum as well.
chicken rice is like hainanese chicken.
everything would have been perfect except for the pomelo salad :(

the white kitchen tiles, industrial lamps, and overall industrial look feel very cosmopolitan, if something that’s popping up sort of everywhere (toby’s, wildflour, motorino, etc). aw, trendy manila.

seriously, though: your local has got something good going on here. look through the menu, and you’ll see an incisive selection of cocktails, food, and wine.

we ordered four good items from the menu: the pierogi, eggplants cooked tempura style, “torched” salmon over black rice, and singapore-style chicken rice.

the pierogi is a giant dumpling with mashed potato, truffled cream, bacon; it is “umamified” further with toasted shallots, nori, and “mock” mentaiko. after you eat this, you can leave…what i mean is, this is a very good way to create an excellent impression.

same with the eggplant, served tempura style. they used round eggplant, cooked till tender, doused with yuzu and soy and topped with crumbed-up tempura-style batter. really nice dish too.

too bad my “torched” salmon turned out to be several thin salmon slices over black rice, cooked pilaf style. for the price, i understand why the cut was selected, but that doesn’t mean i agree. it was also so well-seasoned; perhaps too much so.

the chicken rice was done just right.

what a great job this place does with food and ambience.

i know i make detailed comments on the food; but if a place sets its own (high) standard, like this place, you tend to hold them to it.

your local is a hip neighborhood bistro in legaspi village by chef denny antonino and nicco santos. they serve their own fun interpretations of southeast asian favorites and their own unique take on all-day breakfast. i like the vibe, the well-curated menu, and the secret entrance to the next-door cafe.

check out your local...

the resto started as a secret place in makati, with no commercialized signages...just a door that people in the know use to enter.

love the hipster-sanitized-industrial vibe of the place, with an artistic take.

best place to sit is the cushioned seats on one end of the resto.

there's an open kitchen with a counter where you can sit to watch ...

chef denny prepare the food.

it's a nice place for a foodie meet or if you just want to eat good food with your officemates.

✮ cauliflower soup (p195 +10% service charge). cauliflower, japanese uni, fried kale.

the soup tasted clean, with bursting flavors of cauliflower, superfood kale, and an aftertaste of uni.

✮ pomelo salad (p190 +10% service charge). shrimp, peanuts, winged beans, pickled quail eggs, wild rocket, shallots, yuzu, nam jim, thai coconut ice cream.

this salad was fun. with sweet pomelo, fresh greens, a taste of yuzu, and the best part -- the refreshing thai coconut ice cream on top.

✮ chorizo sandwich (p490 +10% service charge). burnt onion & chorizo jam, pepperoncini cream cheese, fried egg, wild rocket on a squid ink bun

the chorizo is a bit sweet, cheesy with a hint of spicyness. we love the combination of the chorizo with the egg with the greens and black bun effect.

... with parmesan fries and truffled ketchup.

the parmesan fries and truffled ketchup were gone in 60s with the boys fighting over it.

the chorizo burger is best eaten with your hands!

hebi hiam pasta (p380 +10% service charge). shrimps, chilli, quail eggs, fish cake, served ali olio on fettucini.

it's like a cross between italian pasta and noodle dishes in singapore. good if you're looking for something different.

braised beef pasta (p370 +10% service charge). slow cooked beef, red wine reduction on fettucini.

this is a safe pasta dish for the kids with tender beef ragout.

✮ chicken rice (p325 +10% service charge). steeped chicken, ginger rice, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce.

our boys loved this! with juicy chicken, sweet soy sauce, and the rice with the ginger chicken broth.

we had to order another chicken rice dish because the serving size was not enough for the 3 boys.

✮ smoked salmon donburi (p390 +10% service charge). twice cooked salmon, mentaiko, ebiko on roast corn and shitake black rice.

we love this because of the salmon-mentaiko-ebiko flavor combination and the black shitake rice. it was fun eating this, and a bit bitin if you share it.

you can pass through the secret divider...

...if you want a different happy, fun ambiance for your coffee and dessert at yardstick.

you can have black coffee or try their signature concept coffee. (do you have any recommendations at yardstick?)

they have limited displays of pastries for dessert.

hand brew coffee (p160).

the daily/hand brew is really good with their featured single origin or blend coffee. i like to take my coffee black and savor the flavor of the coffee beans.

dense banana bread (p195 +10% service charge). dense banana bread, gula malaka, black sesame paste, coconut-calamansi rice.

we ordered the banana bread at your local, which was an asian twist to the pudding dessert. it was ok...it was fun eating but i won't go back for this.

overall, we love the unique fun take on asian comfort food with a play on flavors that works.

it does not come across as fusion, but more of a chef's interpretation, infused with inspiration from traveling around southeast asia.

we recommend the pomelo salad, chicken rice, smoked salmon donburi and chorizo sandwich. make sure to try yardstick's single origin coffee blends next door.

budget about p700/head for a complete 3-course meal. check it out on your next foodie trip with friends.

i had long been wanting to try this resto since i frequent their next door cafe, yardstick, and boy was i blown away when i finally got to have dinner last night. big serving, rich in flavors, worth every penny! i looove the happy, bubbly vibe of the staff - very accommodating and proactive! i thank the heavens that my workplace is situated very close to this resto!

lamb rendang - a lil spicy for my liking since i have low tolerance for spicy food but it was like a firework in my mouth. lamb was tender and flavorful and red raisin black rice was delicious!

torch salmon donburi - i highly recommend this dish! perfectly marinated and cooked norwegian salmon on a bed of shitake black rice! whew!

dark chocolate earl grey cheesecake ice cream w/ milk crumbs - i couldn't stop saying "this is so good" until i was down to the last spoonful! the chef behind this ethereal dessert is such a genius!

this cozy place gets my vote for the best hainanese chicken rice served in restaurants. we also loved their beef rendang in fried mantou buns and their various salads. forget about the pastas.

we tried your local after seeing pictures of our friends trying out this place. and as most of them have pictures of the salmon dish (torched salmon donburi), we thought we should try them as well. we were not disappointed. at first we thought the serving was too small for the hefty price but the dish was just enough. and they didn't skip the spice lessons too as the dish had so many flavors! we also tried the chicken wings w/ cream cheese but i wasn't impressed. one piece had too much salt maybe because they sprinkled salt before serving and one piece got the most of it. nonetheless, we promise to come back to this place and try their other dishes as well.

we ordered quite a number of dishes and for me the best was the salmon over rice. you absolutely need to order this dish if you visit. the strawberry lemonade was nice and refreshing.

aside from the commercialized bonifacio global city, restaurants have been opening in legaspi village, makati city. to be honest, i hate going to makati because of their one-way streets and the little roads i have yet to memorize. but if needed, in this case, a new restaurant opened, then i’ll be there in no time.

since both establishments are situated beside each other, no wonder your local and yardstick became popular at the same time.

if you are planning to dine at night, make a pretty close watch on every establishment that you spot as both establishments are quite hard to find.

this is another open-kitchen restaurant, and the good thing about this restaurant is you may eat at the section near the counter. this is a unique experience you have to take when you’re dining, so you can see the process of how your meal is being cooked.

though it seems like the place is small, the restaurant can still accommodate a good number of guests.

arnie palmer (p130)
if you dine in chili’s and order their arnold palmer like i do, i wouldn’t recommend this drink. apart from the first one being unlimited, this one isn’t and it tasted just ordinary. save those calories for the dishes you’ll order instead.

pomelo salad (p190)
you cannot go wrong with thai. what i like about thai cuisine is its flavorful dishes. even though the dishes are simple, these are always seasoned with herbs and spices that make these tastier and more appetizing. just like this salad, it may look simple but the nam jim dressing made it extraordinary. it’s just sad that the serving is a bit small; nevertheless, it was really refreshing.

beef rendang buns (p280)
a sapid appetizer to jumpstart the meal! the fiery beef rendang was packed with flavors that is combined with the smoked aioli and pickled cucumber, which makes it so hard to resist! i love that they used mantou buns in this dish.

chicken rice (p325)
your local’s version of hainanese chicken. the chicken was tender and wasn’t dry as it was seasoned with sweet soy sauce.

chorizo pasta (p370)
a full-bodied dish made with chorizo and shiitake mushroom topped with fried egg.

smoked salmon donburi (p390)
a winner. i was never really a fan of salmon as this fish tends to be dry when cooked. however, this dish was not as how i expected it to be. the salmon was truly mouthwatering; it was seared and cooked to perfection. even the rice had its own taste, giving an “oomph” factor to the entire dish.
braised beef pasta (p370)
i prefer the chorizo pasta more than this. the beef was not as tender and there was nothing remarkable about this dish.

lamb rendang (p430)
a lush dish. the dish is very well presented making every ingredient used visible; the lamb rendang, of course, tasted spicy and was very rich, outlined by the sweet soy sauce garnished with different herbs and red raisin black rice topped with a sous vide organic egg. another gorgeous dish that is worth ordering!

being able to try the restaurant first hand, i am not surprised why your local became popular all of a sudden. they do not only serve delicious food; all dishes are reasonably priced as well. at first, the restaurant gave off a wrong impression as some of the dishes weren’t available already considering it was still early in the evening, but the reason for this is that they only have a limited space for their stock and can only serve a few of their bestsellers. i hope they can find a way to not run out of their other ingredients so they can not only sell more, but also make their customers satisfied. make sure to order the pomelo salad, beef rendang buns, smoked salmon donburi, and lamb rendang to have a very fulfilling experience.

on the way to yardstick, i saw through the window a cozy place that seemed like a hidden gem. my boyfriend and i ended up eating here instead of yardstick.

we ordered the salmon donbori, which was heavenly. the salmon was preapred a little like sashimi, so it wasnt cooked all the way and the taste was complemented by the shiitake rice. the combination of flavors were swimming gracefully in my mouth.

we also ordered the braised beef pasta. i read that it had a bad review after i ordered it already so i was hesitant when the order came. it turned out to be better than i expected. the noodles were cooked at the right consistency and the sauce was good with the soft beef.

i would definitely come back.

hip, modern, creative. those are the three words that sum up my your local experience. again with my husband and kids in tow, we trek over to this hole in the wall (no more) along one of the dizzying side streets in makati to have dinner one night. with chef duo at the helm, we were excited to see their take on contemporary cuisine. your local is conveniently attached at the hip to one of my fave new coffee places, yardstick, being next door neighbors with matching opening revolving doors that connect each other. the minute you step into your local you are immediately transported to another place, new york maybe or some cool new resto in singapore or something like that. it really does not feel like you're in manila, hence its instant charm, at least for me. with tiled walls, dark woods, industrial lighting and a great playlist, it sets the tone for the meal you're about to partake.

the place was packed that night so we were offered stools at the bar which turned out to be even better since we were able to converse with chef himself, a co-member of the chef mafia as my husband. we got to see him leading his troop of cooks as they churned out dish after dish in their souped up but tiny kitchen. we ordered the pomelo salad to start with shrimp, peanuts, winged beans, pickled quail eggs, wild rocket, shallots, yuzu, nam jim and get this - thai coconut ice cream. it was a good way to start, light and refreshing, with familiar asian flavors but done in a new way. i ordered the chorizo sandwich with burnt onion & chorizo jam, pepperoncini cream cheese, fried egg, wild rocket on a squid ink bun, again with familiar flavors but with a twist. our girls shared their chicken rice which was straightforward and yummy. my husband ordered what i thought to be the winner of the night, the smoked salmon donburi with salmon so moist and luscious, accompanied by a symphony of mentaiko, ebiko on roast corn atop shitake black rice. i had to stop myself from finishing off my husband's bowl, it was that good.

i truly applaud the efforts of your local's team to serve up a different dining experience but still being able to drive it back home with flavor and great technique. looking forward to our next visit, for sure.

was raining hard when we get there and we realized the first con of this place is parking. street parking only, place is usually fully booked during the weekend and luckily one of my companions reserved a table for us (15 people, yes we're a crowd!) good thing the place and food redeemed it. nice ambience and not bad service. staff were attentive and plating was very nice. i don't have a good picture coz the lights were dim. sorry for the pics. but yeah, this is a must visit place. wanted to try the steak next time.
