i have been going toyoshifor years recommending them to all my friends . the robata oyster and dancing scallops are a favorite . they give an awesome discount on your birthday and for regular customers .  in business there are always negative people but this sushi is unique and ive been eating sushi in bc all my life . i give them thumbs up for service and the bar is super clean  beautiful waitresses  always rushing around . their sushi boats are huge  try one- bet you cant finish it .  5 stars    norm and linda

best sushi in victoria!. there's some good sushi restaurants throughout victoria butyoshiremains the most consistently delicious and high quality! my favourites are the spicy tuna rolls and spicy scallop cones. the baked oysters are a decadent treat (they take a little longer to prepare but are worth it)! my husband gets the nigiri bento box which offers a nice variety. we've never had any complaints about the service though can see the servers are occasionally stretched thin during busy times, that is to be expected when there's also a big demand for them to answer the phone for take-out orders and act as cashiers. they give 20% off weekend lunches - great deal to try different items. another perk, there's ample free parking.

bad experience. i was inyoshisushi a couple of weeks before to get some food to take home. the tall, short hair hostess told me she will be back to take my order, i was waiting for 10 minutes to get my order to be taken, the way she talks is so rude too. i have no idea why they hire her as a hostess! i will never go back again.

favorite japanese restaurant. we always go toyoshisushi on saturday or sunday lunch. the food is always great. very friendly and cheerful girl who is always very helpful works at the front, great services and 20% off on lunch. we highly recommendyoshisushi for lunch on the weekend.

inappropriate attitude. we were atyoshisushi on last saturday night, and were sited at the back room. the server was really cranky. as a worker in the food service, it is not very professional to show your attitude in the public. don't do the job if you are not enjoy doing the job. we have to say the food was really great, we need to think about if we want to go back to see that face again.

seafood boat - loads of food. after my experience at my former favourite sushi place (reviewed on this site), i decided to try yoshi. any restaurant that lasts more than ten years in this city, usually has something going for it.

my wife, my daughter, our japanese friend (saori - direct from fukushima), and i arrived last friday night around six. the place was not full, but had several large parties in the tatami rooms. they provided water, tea and a small appy plate, on the house.

we ordered the seafood boat, with the two young girls ordering a few dishes ala carte. the sunomo salad was substantial and the miso soup good, as well. the mains were a bit of a wait but only made us dig in with more gusto when they arrived.

we all shared and ended up quite stuffed. the boat contained an impressive selection of fish and shellfish; tuna, salmon, squid, scallop, giant clam, octopus and lots more. there was tomago (omelette), tomato salad, tempura, and fresh fruit.

at $20 per person, it was not cheap but a great deal considering the quality and quantity of the food. wish i would have gone there on my birthday.yoshiis our new favourite.

we have beenyoshisushi customer for years, but every time when we go to front to pay, we always hear that tall woman who works at front complains her work. asyoshisushi customer, we want to have a good experience in the restaurant. it is a very unprofessional behavior to complain your work in front your customers. we hear her constantly complains about her work. as a employer, i think you should find some one who doesn't complains work in front customer.

good bento boxes at lunchtime. the bento boxes at lunch times are a good value and it's one of my favorites for lunch. they are typically quick to serve pairs of people up to 4, but service can lag for larger groups. avoid the lunch hour proper if you are wanting to get in and out for lunch as it can be quite busy during the week as it's a popular lunch spot. they also offer a membership card for $5.00 per year which gives a 15% discount.

while i've been to lunch quite frequently, i've only been once or twice for dinner. just as lunch is affordable ~$12 and has a variety of options, dinner is very expensive. i shared a boat of sushi with someone for dinner which was more than enough food for the 2 of us, but it was $30.00. i've only been once or twice on the weekends, which is less busy. go at least a half hour before they close at 2pm so they can accommodate you, and you aren't rushed.
i have had better sushi in places like san francisco (so you can't compare it to that), but i think that for victoria, the sushi is good and affordable here.

great place for lunch. good food and a very busy restaurant at lunch time. i eat here monthly, sometimes more. sushi is fresh and tea hot. i love the bento boxes (~$12 + tax).

great place for large groups if you reserve a tatami room, and also has quite a few 4-6 person booths, and smaller tables, as well as a sushi bar.

they give a 30% off discount for birthdays, and if they recognize you as a "regular", there is ayoshisushi club at lunch time where you receive 15% off.

dinner is more expensive, but the sushi on the boat is a good value if you split it between 2 persons. free parking; in the gateway village mall. service has been prompt and friendly, and it is possible to get in and out within the lunch hour.

being new to victoria, i went toyoshisushi on a recommendation by a co-worker. this was by far the worst sushi my husband and i have ever had!! we ordered a few rolls which had way too much mayo, or sauce- not authentic sushi. the tempura udon came with 3 prawns, and the noodles were not real udon noodles. i am used to sushi restaurants that give you a basket of tempura with prawns and an assortment of vegetables. it was horrible, and way overpriced! the service was great, but that was the only positive thing. i will not be returning here.

favourite japanese restaraunt. i discoveredyoshia few years ago and i have had nothing but great food, served at reasonable prices, and the only restaurant i know of that serves ramen! 5/5

best japanese food!. my husband and i have been going toyoshisushi since it opened in 1987. we have never been disappointed. fast, friendly service and the food is always fresh and delicious. the "boat" gives you an excellent variety and is reasonably priced for all that you get. the robata oysters are to die for and i always make sure i get at least one. they also give you 30% off on your birthday, so i take many friends there on their special day to enjoy themselves. after 25 years, perhaps some minor renovations are in order? that's not really a complaint...just an observation. keep up the good food yoshi!

excellent sushi in victoria bc.yoshisushi offers the best japanese food in victoria! it is a little on the expensive side but it well worth it. the staff are nice and the sushi is the best in town.

great food. i have been going here for many years and i love their sushi.
the tuna tataki and nigiri are excellent quality. i also enjoy the spicy beef rolls and the tempura. they have recently added some yaki rolls to the menu and the toro-yaki roll is also very well made and tasty. the chop-chop is good too. i highly recommendyoshisushi for either lunch or dinner. i really enjoy the sushi bar.

another excellent sushi place. very good place - yes a bit pricey but it is well worth it.

personally i find ebizo better but the two restaurants have different styles which is why i thinkyoshibeat out ebizo for top sushi place. but you can't go wrong with either and victoria is spoiled to have both.
