finestsandwichesin central florida. this is a wonderfully funky hangout that the locals fill every day at lunch for the bestsandwichesyou can get in central florida-and perhaps anywhere.

the pulled pork is a favorite, but nothing here is that simple. add applewood smoked bacon, a hint of raspberry sauce, some of the house-made and bottled mustard bbq sauces… superb.

but my personal favorite is the kitty cat nap salad, organic greens, raspberry vinaigrette, and the most amazing heap of exotic tuna-filled with craisins, nuts, and chinese five spice.

owner fish morgan circulates and makes everyone feel at home. well, at home with a wacky brother, anyway!

parking is behind the place through a narrow drive on the left, or across the street. eat out back, in the charming patio.

yellow dog is hard to find, but packed every day. that says it all.

i really love the atmosphere of yellow dog eats and their bbq. i have gone several times with friends to eat there and always come away feeling taken. the price of the drinks is high. the price of thesandwichesis on the high end even though they are tasty. the thing that turned me and my friends away from going back to yellow dog eats happened this past christmas holiday. our group coordinator called to reserve a room upstairs for a girls day christmas lunch and the managers gave us the run around on the price to reserve a room. we decided not to reserve a room and just show up. upon arrival we asked the staff if they could play christmas music. we were told they would not play christmas music. i have lived in area for 20 years and have gone there 4 times.every time i have gone to eat there i am disappointed in their rude customer service.

cia trained. this fun and funky place does not serve averagesandwichesand salads. creative combinations and even more creative nondescript names for the menu items are the claim to fame for this eatery. if every city has a signature neighborhood eatery...then this is it for the orlando area. made with fresh ingredients these generous servings will make your taste buds dance with joy. who says every cia trained chef needs to be a part of a fine dining restaurant...some just need to make dining a fine experience, even if it's only a sandwich!

food is ok but definitely not worth the crappy service and ridiculous prices. i'm not sure what all the hype is about, but it is certainly not deserved. it makes me wonder who's writing all of these positive reviews.

i'll start with the good - the ambience was cool. plenty of seating areas, rustic, eclectic, down to earth. it has a laid back, relaxing vibe. thesandwicheswere adequately tasty. good sauces. the retriever roast roast beef sandwich was piled high with meat. the holy crap, not so much. it was good, but skimpy. definitely not worth $11 for a turkey sandwich.

which leads me to the first of the bad. way overpriced. $7 for a glass of beer??? $10-11 for a sandwich, chips, and a quarter of a pickle? the prices were not in accordance with the environment. if the food was spectacular and the service was, well, good, one might not mind splurging, but the food was far from spectacular and the deal killer - the crappy service and rude staff.

after being in the restaurant for about 5 minutes with staff just walking around looking at and ignoring us, we were finally told that customers order at the counter and find a seat in one of several eating areas. ok. maybe that's something they should tell customers when they enter or at the very least, have it posted somewhere. we got our own menus which consisted of a lot of different names for essentially several different versions of the same few things. the bbq and pulled pork section of the menu was just a bunch of different pulled pork meals. no ribs that one would expect in a bbq menu. ok, no ribs tonight, so we ordered sandwiches.

the first girl at the register seemed nice. at least she smiled. couldn't answer a question about the beer on tap, but did go find out. then she was gone. the cashier who cashed us out acted bothered when asked if a side salad we ordered could be brought out with the rest of the meal. she just left it on top of the counter like it was too much bother to put it away for a few minutes. we didn't realize that that was too much to ask for. we sat at a table upstairs not knowing that the door about 6 inches away from the table was to a restroom. no clearly visible sign. we only knew because some guy walked in. the final kicker was the audacity of the sign at our table that asks customers to clean up their own table after eating. really? after paying almost $50 for a couple of sandwiches, 3 beers, and a side salad one is expected to clean up too? save your money for toojay's, panera's or crispers. as a matter of fact, i'd probably go to wawa before returning to this place.

i have been jonesing to try yellow dog eats over in orlando (okay, windermere...but it's all basically the same place) ever since i first read about it on urbanspoon a year or so ago.  hmmm....how could i not be intrigued by yellow dog eats bistro and wine store since i: am "owned" by a yellow dog who, by all appearances, seems to spend most of time plotting to overthrow mankind... like to eat almost as much as he does... and love wine almost more than life itself. yellow dog eats and i looked on paper like we would be a match made in heaven, except for their pesky sandwich menu.  i've always foundsandwichesoddly off-putting...simple stomach-filler for when you're too tired, too lazy, too poor or too uninspired to put together a "real meal" (but i'm highly evolved enough at this point in life to know that this idea is rooted in my childhood where 3,000 too many baloneysandwicheson sunbeam were tossed at me and called "supper"). moving forward, i was immediately enchanted by the old

the food is good.  the very uniquesandwichesall have fun names like fluffy love or the beast of the middle east. occasionally i order something in a restaurant that is just not good and this time it was the jolly green giant wrap.  it sounded delicious on paper but it just didn’t execute well.   the menu stated  “a spinach tortilla filled to the brim with meaty avocado, red onions, goat cheese, sprouts, scallions, and spring mix are made delightful with our cilantro-lime-avocado dressing.”   in reality, it was just a mushy wet mess.

my favorite sandwich place!. there's nothing else in orlando or kissimmee like yellow dog eats.

orlando is the land of franchises. in 8 miles around my workplace, there are 4 tgi friday's. so it was to my great surprise that i found something as quirky and unique as yellow dog eats.

when a friend or relative comes from out-of-state, this is the place i take them to when i want to give them an experience they are not able to replicate when they go back to their turfs.

basically, yde is an antique florida house (rare find, most houses in central florida are new...blame the hurricanes) converted into a restaurant with a patio and a second floor for private events and additional seating, yellow dog eats specializes on sandwiches. that's it.sandwichesand wraps and mozzarella salad.

you will not find anything with fish, because that would be offensive to the owner/chef (his last name is fish). what you will find are great-tasting, healthy-sounding lunch-fare. my favorite is the "smokey", which is basically a pulled-pork bbq sandwich with heaps of meat (i dare you to double-grip it and big-bite it!) and a fantastic sweet sauce that is complemented by a pineapple slice.

everybody that i have taken to yde has been delighted. that's 9 different people, 4 out-of-towners, 4 different trips. that's consistent in my book.

they also have fun specials, like the beer-flavored mashed potatoes they did during st. patty's.

oh, and if you have some room...scratch that! make some room and try their orange creamsicle cake. it is so good, my girlfriend requested a whole cake for her birthday and i complied!

my only complaint is that this is a way-too-popular-for-its-size place. depending at what time you go, you might find yourself with inconvenient parking spaces, a 10-people waiting line and no tables inside, or out in the patio. i don't know what happens when it's raining. i have not had the misfortune.

otherwise, enjoy this casual, fun, not-so-hidden gem of a restaurant and peruse the abundant canine decor (bring a pic of your pooch if you want to add to it!).

must try bbq spot. if you like bbq, pulled pork, and a humble corky atmosphere, then this is the place to be.sandwicheswere amazing. i had the opportunity to order the mr. smokey and my wifey had the florida cracker. the meat was bulging out of buns while the sauce drove your taste buds crazy as you chew and looked forward to the next bite. atmosphere was def a plus. very homey and relaxed feeling with the limitations of space. don't hesitate to step in the backyard as you will run into a loungy garden where more sitting tables await. the only drawback i noticed was the location. it is located in a residential area of orlando known as gotha. but don't let the drive stall you from visiting cause it is definitely worth the drive. as for me, it will be a routine stop every time i'm orlando bound. consume the extra calories cause it's totally worth it. take a walk around winter park in park ave to burn it off as well.

cool place, good food. you have to like a place that let's you write on the walls, table, pretty much wherever you want, and you can staple a photo of you and your pooch up on the wall as well.

the atmosphere and decorations strive for a time 30 years ago when orlando and windermere were more down to earth without all the showy flashy clowns that now reside in the area. there are old street signs and business signs that bring back memories.

the food is excellent, creative and well thought out. not your typical sandwich shop, prepare to be surprised. the bbq is a must try even thoughsandwichesand wraps are their forte.

the charasmatic owner is entertainment as he works the restaurant and makes sure to talk to everyone. his knowledge of food and wine is an enjoyable conversation.
