finest sandwiches in central florida. this is a wonderfully funky hangout that the locals fill every day at lunch for the best sandwiches you can get in central florida-and perhaps anywhere.

the pulledporkis a favorite, but nothing here is that simple. add applewood smoked bacon, a hint of raspberry sauce, some of the house-made and bottled mustard bbq sauces… superb.

but my personal favorite is the kitty cat nap salad, organic greens, raspberry vinaigrette, and the most amazing heap of exotic tuna-filled with craisins, nuts, and chinese five spice.

owner fish morgan circulates and makes everyone feel at home. well, at home with a wacky brother, anyway!

parking is behind the place through a narrow drive on the left, or across the street. eat out back, in the charming patio.

yellow dog is hard to find, but packed every day. that says it all.

one of my go-to places. i had a friend say that everyone has 5 restaurants that they call their standards - yellow dog is definitely one of mine. despite its location in a somewhat remote area of town, i find myself willing and ready to make the drive as often as possible. this place is consistently great.

yellow dog has some of the most inventive bbq i've ever had. and while good pulledporkis a dime-a-dozen in orlando, yellow dog has reinvented the classic and added touches like bleu cheese, bacon, and scallions to make the blue suede shoes sandwich (my favorite).

but the menu doesn't end there. they have a deep array of selections, filled with great "herbivore" options, salads, sides, and sandwiches. all of which are reasonably priced and day-of fresh. additionally, the atmosphere (a house that was repurposed as a restaurant) makes you feel like you're hanging out at your cool friends home, getting a great meal, and not feeling rushed.

yellow dog is a rare mix of inviting ambiance, delicious food, and unique menu. enjoy.

we just came back from yellow dog eats out by windermere, fl, and i must say that this is one of the best new establishments that i have tried in a really long time! well, it isn’t a “new” place at all, i believe it has been in this location for about 12 years, but it is definitely “new” for me, and immediately climbed its way to the top of my list. it seems to be a huge house that has been turned into a restaurant, a gem that one stumbles upon with a hippie flare that serves food made with love! throw in a touch of the cracker barrel style store where you can purchase unique bar-b-que sauces, wines and t shirts. then stir in a whole bunch of eccentricity, and top it off with a cool guy named fish (the head cheese and chef) who walks around and talks to customers and makes sure everybody is happy! the food â€" delicious! sandwiches, salads, bbq, desserts, beer, vegan/vegetarian options â€" all in interesting combinations. i had the pulledporksalad ($12.95

the food - delicious! sandwiches, salads, bbq, desserts, beer, vegan/vegetarian options - all in interesting combinations. i had the pulledporksalad ($12.95) a bed of fresh greens, grape tomatoes, fresh onions, scallions, carrots, tangy bleu cheese, fried onions, cucumbers, and dikon sprouts topped with a hearty serving of our famous pulledporkand fish's citrus-bbq sauce. it was sweet, spicy, hearty and extremely fresh all at the same time, there were some bonus peanuts and almonds on it which gave it an extra crunch, and not only did i practically lick my plate clean, but i couldn't have been happier to do it!
it was well worth the 20 minute drive. upon looking at the website i found they have a room upstairs with a chef's table for larger parties, and also a cool outdoor seating section for a day with nice weather! i plan on going back often, and taking friends that i know will love it. and i feel excited to have this treasure in my repertoire of delicious places to eat!

ol' yellow. i drove by this place earlier in the day on my way for 1 of my 2 stops on this trip to orlando. so i checked it out on urbanspoon, it sounded like the right place to eat dinner, to the most part anyway. i prepped myself by giving the reviews a once over and visiting their website for the menu. thought i was prepared, so off i went. parking lot was crowded and thought the "old house" was a nice touch. i was starting to feel it. the menu seemed a little exotic, was yde intent, mostly a bbqporktheme and the like; the crowd was a lot younger and hip, i guess - sure hope this isn't how i was interpreted when i was their age. anyway i had to ask how this works: you order at the front counter, everyone was friendly but not very informative of the menu. you pay, get your drink, get your tools, wait for them to call your name, find a table and eat. just like home. i chose the buffalo soldier, not sure the relevance or the association but it was a chicken wrap. also tried the mac and cheese. it was ok, not even sure if it is worth writing about it but i see i have already written a half page on it. you would think there would be some decent places to eat, at a decent price that is just good, nothing else. it was fair at best, little over priced for what it was. nice atmosphere. i tried it, but sorry ol' yellow, don't think i'll be back. i'm sure you won't miss me anyway.

i've been here twice, the food is delicious and everyone i've eaten here with has always enjoyed it. i think this place is outrageously overpriced. a pulledporksandwich, a bbqporksalad, and 1 bottled heineken for $34! at a counter service establishment? seriously, get over yourselves, your food isn't made of precious metals or cocaine, people. the decor and ambience of the establishment is very nice & unique also. the staff however, are an entirely different story. i don't know where the owner/manager found these people. they all appear to be between the ages of 16-21, and completely lack any skills in hospitality, organization, and all appear lost, drugged, or just generally stupid. i love the food, but i'm not sure i'll be back.

food is ok but definitely not worth the crappy service and ridiculous prices. i'm not sure what all the hype is about, but it is certainly not deserved. it makes me wonder who's writing all of these positive reviews.

i'll start with the good - the ambience was cool. plenty of seating areas, rustic, eclectic, down to earth. it has a laid back, relaxing vibe. the sandwiches were adequately tasty. good sauces. the retriever roast roast beef sandwich was piled high with meat. the holy crap, not so much. it was good, but skimpy. definitely not worth $11 for a turkey sandwich.

which leads me to the first of the bad. way overpriced. $7 for a glass of beer??? $10-11 for a sandwich, chips, and a quarter of a pickle? the prices were not in accordance with the environment. if the food was spectacular and the service was, well, good, one might not mind splurging, but the food was far from spectacular and the deal killer - the crappy service and rude staff.

after being in the restaurant for about 5 minutes with staff just walking around looking at and ignoring us, we were finally told that customers order at the counter and find a seat in one of several eating areas. ok. maybe that's something they should tell customers when they enter or at the very least, have it posted somewhere. we got our own menus which consisted of a lot of different names for essentially several different versions of the same few things. the bbq and pulledporksection of the menu was just a bunch of different pulledporkmeals. no ribs that one would expect in a bbq menu. ok, no ribs tonight, so we ordered sandwiches.

the first girl at the register seemed nice. at least she smiled. couldn't answer a question about the beer on tap, but did go find out. then she was gone. the cashier who cashed us out acted bothered when asked if a side salad we ordered could be brought out with the rest of the meal. she just left it on top of the counter like it was too much bother to put it away for a few minutes. we didn't realize that that was too much to ask for. we sat at a table upstairs not knowing that the door about 6 inches away from the table was to a restroom. no clearly visible sign. we only knew because some guy walked in. the final kicker was the audacity of the sign at our table that asks customers to clean up their own table after eating. really? after paying almost $50 for a couple of sandwiches, 3 beers, and a side salad one is expected to clean up too? save your money for toojay's, panera's or crispers. as a matter of fact, i'd probably go to wawa before returning to this place.
