welcome wok n roll! pretoria east is in desperate need of a good asian restaurant. the decor is understated, but with a warm ambience.
unfortunately our initial welcome left a lot to be desired with a host basically telling us to sit and wait at one of the about 10 empty tables instead of reserving a table for literally 30 minutes later...a request they refused to accommodate, obviously after our 30 min wait for the final member of our party there were still about 5 or 6 empty tables, since it was early evening.
moving on to the food...
we had the teriyaki duck (duck over cooked) taste on par. chicken mayo mozzarella springrolls were well received, the star of the starter round was the bao!!
crispy chicken and prawn tempura bao absolutely delectable.
mains: the ramen noodles was good, but nothing spectacular, a little bland. the salmon bowl a bit of a let down according to my friend. the thai red prawn curry was lovely, could’ve done with a bit more prawns, but beautifully balanced. the chicken teriyaki was delicious,
we ended the meal by sharing deep fried ice-cream....well done on the ice-cream still intact, but the crust was what seems soggy crushed corn flakes with a shop bought chocolate syrup...
all in all, judged on the food, we’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu...wok n roll is on the right track, we wish you all of the best with this new venture.
