thisplaceis a very "bc" restaurant, lots of vibes reminding me of victoria in a kind of nice way.  we chose them pretty much because they had a nice website and were nearby and our other choice was closed.  they apparently offer cooking classes which strikes me as odd since the meals indicated no mastery of cookery to be shared, but they are taking some unique and bold choices in their menu.  the service was quite rude, the server seemed rushed and treated us as an inconvenience.  the appetizer was chips and dip, with a handful of two kinds of mostly broken and semi-stale bagged chips.  one of us had the salad rolls, which were reportedly subpar and had a sort of strange taste not very typical or conducive to the nature of the dish.  i had a curry which i did like, especially the mixed grains.  it was odd that the curry contained one single very large chunk of potato and a couple large pieces of other veggies, maybe like 5 chunks in total, but still good.  another one of us had a noodle bowl which was apparently decent but nothing amazing.  we did not dislike the restaurant, it was just shy of "ok", but we universally agreed that we were all unlikely to return, though it did nourish us in the cold weather.

i had high hopes for thisplaceby it was mediocre. the whole family agreed that i make better noodle/rice bowls at home. plus the teriyaki chicken wasn't ready when we arrived & said it would be a 30 min wait for it, which my hubby wasn't very happy about. enjoyed the salad wraps but coffee was cold & my hubby's pad thai had too much peanut butter & not enough vegetables. my thai noodle bowl had delicious mushrooms in it but lacked in flavour and any other vegetables. sadly won't be back.

a fantastic experience eating here. we were visiting from vancouver and wanted to have a casual dining experience that had vegetarian options for some of our party. our b+b suggested thisplaceand might i say it was our favorite dining experience of our entire trip. the food is very good, portions are quite large and the service is super friendly and laid back. not to mention that it's so reasonably priced. this might be the okanagan's best kept secret.

this restaurant is the only restaurant, that i'm aware of, in this whole town that offers only healthy and loving food!! the raw desserts are better than any dessert you will find as well as healthy. the staff are very personal and amazing!! this very specialplacehas grown so much since i've lived here and it has been an honour to watch it and support it :)

this restaurant lured us in with a promise of fast, healthy and affordable. the smell, as we approached, sealed the deal. we were greeted by a friendly helpful and pleasant vibe. our options were explained as a sample of food comes out to our host. the kitchen staff is vibrant and healthy looking and the food looks amazing as well. thisplaceshould be a vegan mecca for the okanagan. we share the yam and potatoe curry, and braized shiitake mushrooms (both entrées). an option is given for a double main. they are accompanied by a single order of mixed grains (quinoa, black rice, lentils and millet (i think)) and a cabbage salad. the meal was healthy and filling for two people.

this gem will now be a destination in penticton!

really wanted to like it...maybe next time. yes, it smells lovely when you walk in. the food is relatively healthy, it's fresh, the salad wraps with peanut sauce are tasty, and the bok choy soup was quite lovely.

so...why did i vote "didn't like"? well, here goes:

the menu is hard to read, or at least i was wondering: is that all they have? and then, to top it all off, they were out of almost everything. seriously. no tomato salad, no chick pea with tomatoes, no tandoori beans, no desserts (except some chocolate sauce on dried pineapple pieces).

but they did have this yam and potato dish. seriously: who wants yam and potato with rice? it doesn't make sense. maybe you'd like bread and pasta with that too??? starch fest! where have all the veggies gone?

oh, and why was my slaw side salad smaller than everyone else's? and why was it served without any dressing? unfortunately, the staff seems to have been asleep at the switch :( well, that's what appears to have happened after the owner left for the night. he seems to run a tight ship, but when the cat's away....

for consistency, thisplacehas to get its act together if it wants to serve more than 6-8 tables in a night. business will pick up, but will they be able to handle it?

if i lived in penticton i'd go back again and hope for the best. for now, maybe things will have improved by next year. supposedly they're expanding and getting a liquor license. fingers crossed.
