while you can't knock the healthiness of the food, you might find it over-priced given how simple themenuis. also, if you're wondering why the staff of young women seem sad, consider the owner. i've come here twice; the second (and final) time the owner ungraciously tossed a half-closed carton on the counter with a scowl and said "there you go, mass'ah," (as in "master," as in, i hate serving you.) i guess he was in a bad mood, but our interaction had been normal before that, so it was really surprising, not to mention offensive. sorry for being your customer; it won't happen again!

haven't been so happy with a restaurant in years!. we were drawn in by the cute storefront and the fact that it was actually open on a sunday. themenuwas interesting. raw food? check. gluten free? check. vegetarian? aww hell yiss!

we saw the organic wine, ale, and hibiscus concoction in the display case and were sold (hey, it was a hot day). hong and his staff got us into a beautiful booth table surrounded by gorgeous, colourful local art. we ordered and chatted a bit with hong about spice levels and things like that. when i mentioned my passion for spice, he lit up like a candle! haha. he gave me a complimentary bowl of rice and a dish of peaches and apple splices for trying out his wonderful, fiery hot sauces and spice powders. seriously, i would say i tried eight or nine original products of his, all of which hurt my face in the best possible way. then he gave us a complimentary dessert to help calm down the spice high.

this restaurant specializes in making food unique, interesting, healthy, and tasty as can be. if you have food questions or concerns, ask hong about it. he talks to his farmers and seems to have travelled enough to know what he's talking about....and can hook you up with something that will really get your tastebuds smilin'.

brilliant.

my tastebuds are buzzing, simply vdelicious. the chalkboardmenuwas slightly confusing and a bit over priced (compared to the under 10dollar entre quoted by urbanspoon)

amazing. while i'll agree with the previous reviewer themenuis hard to read at first, i can see why it works for this place. themenuis limited but the food is fabulous. it's fresh, flavorful, and has great presentation. we sat outside, but there is inside seating and a takeout window.

really wanted to like it...maybe next time. yes, it smells lovely when you walk in. the food is relatively healthy, it's fresh, the salad wraps with peanut sauce are tasty, and the bok choy soup was quite lovely.

so...why did i vote "didn't like"? well, here goes:

themenuis hard to read, or at least i was wondering: is that all they have? and then, to top it all off, they were out of almost everything. seriously. no tomato salad, no chick pea with tomatoes, no tandoori beans, no desserts (except some chocolate sauce on dried pineapple pieces).

but they did have this yam and potato dish. seriously: who wants yam and potato with rice? it doesn't make sense. maybe you'd like bread and pasta with that too??? starch fest! where have all the veggies gone?

oh, and why was my slaw side salad smaller than everyone else's? and why was it served without any dressing? unfortunately, the staff seems to have been asleep at the switch :( well, that's what appears to have happened after the owner left for the night. he seems to run a tight ship, but when the cat's away....

for consistency, this place has to get its act together if it wants to serve more than 6-8 tables in a night. business will pick up, but will they be able to handle it?

if i lived in penticton i'd go back again and hope for the best. for now, maybe things will have improved by next year. supposedly they're expanding and getting a liquor license. fingers crossed.

best healthy food in the entire okanagan valley. while walking down the street we started smelling something amazing in the air. our noses lead us to this hidden jewel. and what an awesome surprise! wild scallion is all about getting as much flavor as possible out of locally sourced and healthy ingredients. and they take that seriously... there's no gmo found in this place. the majority of themenuis totally suitable for vegetarians and vegans (and gluten free). this funky little restaurant is out to change the way people look at food.

one reviewer who said "bland" and "afraid of salt"... if you want salt, eat potato chips. i'm sure there is a denny's around the corner that would better suit your taste-buds and help expand that waste band.

on their business card it says... "fast, affordable, and healthy". they forgot to add 'delicious'.

way above expectations. when i read amenuwith many a mention of beans and cabbage i don't usually get too excited but i left the wild scallion packed full because i enjoyed every last bite of my meal. i had a coupe of curries with a blend of rice and quinoa and a fresh cabbage slaw on the side. everything was tasty and i had a hankering for some more slaw by dinnertime.

all the right ingredients:. affordable for everyday (or several days per week) dining. great lunches - their healthy, fast, extremely tasty. smallmenuis uncomplicated and that is one of my favourite descriptors for wild scallion: uncomplicated.

and they encourage you to bring your food container by discounting your lunch by 50 cents! i appreciate the team at wild scallion so much.
