thought the food was really good. started with the hush puppies that were done really well. split the shecrabsoup with my wife which was great and reasonable priced. i had the tuna tacos with ranch chips. that tacos were great, nice kick to them but not overpowering. the chips were ok, nothing to write home about. under $8 for the 2 tacos. my wife got the flounder topped with crab. she thought it was really good just a little pricey $22. the wait staff was great. they also have fresh crabs on site and a walk up to go area. a place where locals would go. will be back

disappointing..maybe an off night?. i had really high hopes for this place. it was recommended by a chesapeake native who grew up with members of the wicker family; i was promised the absolute best crabcakes i've ever had, with good value and great service.

i came on a saturday night (5/21/22) with my folks for a celebratory dinner. the outdoor patio was filled with folks listening to live music; the take-out window had a long line, the parking lot was full. looked promising! the indoor dining room was packed but our wait to be seated was brief.

from there on, the experience was horrible. our waitress brought out hushpuppies promptly (in fairness, they were piping hot and delicious) but was too distracted by the men at the table across from ours to remember to take drink orders. she returned to our area a few minutes later to bus a table and we flagged her down to order a pitcher of beer, and sweet tea. the pitcher arrived a few minutes later, but no glasses...had to wait for the glasses...then another trip for the iced tea. the she-crab soup was loaded withcrabchunks and very rich, but it was lukewarm at best. our hotcrabdip appetizer didn't arrive, neither did my mother's appetizer (house salad.) in hindsight, when the salad was ordered the waitress didn't ask about dressing preference; i should have recognized that she wasn't paying attention to our order.

when the entrees were brought out, we told the waitress to please cancel our order for the hotcrabdip as it never arrived. we also reminded her about the salad order. she seemed embarassed to have forgotten both, but again didn't ask about salad dressing. another server came to our table with thecrabdip saying something to the waitress along the lines of "hey, i think this was yours." our waitress was flustered, and though the dip was cold and had been sitting out she said she couldn't cancel it now and we could just "take it home if we didn't finish it."

needless to say, the dip was pretty much congealed cheese at this point. we each gamely tried some (i heard rave reviews) but it was disappointing. this is the first time in my life i have ever sent something back. to her credit, the waitress apologized and said she'd take care of it.

our entrees (crab cake platter and broiled seafood platter) weren't hot. i will say that thecrabcakes were generously sized, and as promised, without any filler. the seafood was fresh, but again, simply not hot.

one of the managers was checking in on the tables in our section and asked how our food was. we didn't mention the poor service (everyone has an off night now and then, and i'm not looking to get anyone fired...besides, cold food is not necessarily a server's fault). we did, however state that the restaurant had been highly recommended, but that the food from soup to entree to appetizer had all been cold. she was shocked, seemed genuinely distressed, and apologized profusely.

dinner came out to $70 for three people. we weren't charged for thecrabdip, which i appreciated.

will i go back? maybe. the size of the crabcakes and lack of filler was impressive, and to me indicates a committment to quality and value.

i have a feeling that my experience was an off night at this place. if i do return, it will be for lunch-- a lower stakes, less expensive gamble. if i do have a better experience i will certainly report back

it was decent. i paid $20 for a "steam pot" that had six smallcrablegs and five shrimp. $20! not worth the price at all. no substitutions allowed. steer clear of this place.

wicker's has a homey feel as you walk in; it's very inviting and we were greeted right as we walked in. we started off with the fried calamari. it was presented nicely and had a beautiful golden color. the breading was amazing and they were fried perfectly. what was surprising was the amount they give you. this could have easily been a meal! i had thecrabcake provolone burger with old bay chips and a sam adams rebel ipa. the chips are homemade and fantastic: nice crunch and great flavor. the burger was cooked well to order and the bun was toasted. the star of this dish was the minicrabcake. there was almost no filler and it was seared to perfection. it was so good, i ate half of it right off the burger! my wife ordered the 6 oz sirloin with a fried potato cake and green beans. the steak was cooked very well and the potato cake was phenomenal. the green beans were fresh, not the canned variety and were buttery with a pleasing snap. the meals came with hush puppies, which i have to say i was a little disappointed with. they were tasty, but a little overcooked. this was pretty surprising for a seafood restaurant. to be perfectly honest, i would've rather had hush puppies from long john silver's. the service was good, nothing spectacular. the waitress was attentive and the food was at our table quickly. nothing less than you'd expect from any other restaurant. we didn't have any room for dessert although the carrot cake looked fabulous. that's definitely on my list for the next time we go. :) total including tip: $60

great expectations. my girlfriend and i had not been to wicker's in a few years because our last experience was very bad. well we had hoped that it had changed and we were wrong. the blackened tuna was good, we would give it an a. i then had their shecrabsoup, it was totally unacceptable in taste. my girlfriend had their mac and cheese with shrimp &crabmeat and she notated that it was a mistake to order and a bigger mistake in trying to eat it! but our server was delightful, very interactive, cordial, bubbly and the best part of our evening. oh well, we will wait 3 or 4 years to pass and then maybe try again. i am confused as to how anyone says that it was a good place to eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

scrumpdelumiously great. i am a virginia beach native and was first introduced to wicker's in the winter of 2011. i'm a real critic oncrabcakes since duck inn closed but i have to say wicker's is my all time favorite (even over duck inn!!!). i am real fastidious about seafood and i love soft shell crabs, oysters, scallops, shrimp and tuna. this is the only restaurant i can find soft. she'll crabs out of season and they are always delicious. the hush puppies are great, the shecrabsoup, tuna bites, oysters, shrimp, scallops are all superb! the wait staff are all like family the atmosphere takes me back to my cottage in corova beach i n.c. so friendly, warm atmosphere, and it's not a hotsy totsy space. so i think those bad reviewers need to k.m.a. and go back to marina shores. this is truly a superb local dining experience, i take my family (form the shenandoah mountains here) and my local family it is the top of our list. debbie and the entire wait staff make you feel like family. i love wicker's and am telling everybody about it. they are a five star seafood family restaurant. i also remember buying seafood from them with my mom and dad when i was a kid (before the restaurant). oops! i guess i am giving my age away, i have traveled a great deal thought the u.s., puerto rico, the bahamas, grenada, mexico, hawaii and i have to say for great seafood there is no place like home at wicker's. love it! love it!!!!!!!!

1) the worst shecrabsoup i've ever had, bar none. i love shecraband have had it throughout the obx and the beach. however, this one was absolutely flavorless and had a nearly complete absence of any noticeablecrabmeat (bits and flakes). tasted like cornstarch gravy.

2)crabcakes are similarly poorly executed, despite the hype. should be called acrabpancake. on the plus side there was lump in there but the end result was more of acrabmush.

3) fried seafood platter had two saving graces: scallops and shrimp. the oysters and fish were sub-par (the oysters arguably worse). as for thecrabcake, see #2.

avoid. want good seafood go to surf rider @ marina shores.

lunch was yummo !. back home from having lunch with my sisters, diana and deborah, at wicker's seafood. celebrating didi's birthday. lunch was great, we all tried something different. deb's scallop basket was delicious, as well as didi's soft shell sandwich and my crabcake sandwich, all served with homemade potato chips. great fresh seafood and service. will try again, very tasty seafood and hush puppies were yummo. we talked about the old days when our parents would drive to the wicker family's channelcrabbusiness when we were children. we are all in our 60's now but those memories still remain, you can't forget "good places to get virginia crab"

will definitely go back. we had a large group, took my dad and stepmom there while they were visiting here from fl. the restaurant was busy (all tables full). yet, we received excellent and prompt service. the food was hot and delicious. loved the atmosphere of the place, very cozy and family oriented. our waitress, debbie, who was also a member of the wicker's family, was excellent and fun. we had 10 people in our group, so our orders varied, and even with all of the business in the restaurant and all of our different orders, we still received everything quickly, and without any mix-ups. debbie was very personable and made us all feel so welcome. we definitely will go back for the all you can eat crabs (you have to eat them outside). our family shared a bite from each of our plates so we could get a little taste of everything, and all was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection!!! what a hidden gem in chesapeake!!! really loved it!! ps. the crabcakes were the best (no filler); just yummy lumpcrabmeat.

we walked into a warm, friendly atmosphere and were promptly seated at a nice window table. our waitress sarah immediatly got our drink orders and told the specials. i ended up ordering the outstanding shecrabsoup and the freshcrabwith butter, while my husband ordered the oysters rockefeller and the wicker steam pot. everything had that fresh caught then cooked taste and our waitress couldn't have been sweeter or more well informed. we will continue to come back and tell all of our friends!

oh, so delicious!! the staff was very friendly and attentive. as another reviewer noted, the place is not fancy but feels homey and welcoming, which was just what we were looking for. the food was great!! the hush puppies were the best i've had. i had the steak & fried shrimp special. the steak was done just the way i like it and was very tender. the fried shrimp had a light flour coating which was light & crisp. my husband had the seafood platter with shrimp, scallops, oysters, flounder & acrabcake. he kept saying how delicious it was and that thecrabcake was the best he'd ever had. our daughter had the flounder dinner which was very tender and juicy. all of the seafood was very fresh and not fishy in any way. so good! price-wise, we paid $66 (before tip) for everything including soft drinks, which is quite reasonable for such a great dinner. if we lived in the area, we would come to wickers often. we'll definitely come back the next time we're in the va beach area.
