what stood out to me when i visited thisplacewas the ambiance. it's downright gorgeous and exceptionally presentable. there's a decent parking area too. luckily when we went there, there are just few patrons around so the parking wasn't that much of a hassle task.
as usual the starring cast is me, my boss and her husband. the two seem to be so engrossed on discussing certain things in their life, you know, family problems, business, work, all those crap. ignoring them, i went immediately to the menu and automatically wanted the beef rendang. i know from the looks, even before reading the description, that it is somewhat spicy and whose soup/sauce is based with coconut milk. it was lovely. no wonder it was their recommended bestseller.
we also ordered their ayam goreng kreme (half), a deep fried chicken with some sort of crispy strips of deep-fried chicken skin, almost shredded in appearances and very flaky, then served with some form of fish paste. it kind of look cool. when we took a bite, it was pretty ordinary, however you'll gradually appreciate the taste when you incorporate the crispy flakes. it reinforces deep-fried chicken taste, making the dish more palatable. i'm not totally sure how the fish paste fare well. i think i'll prefer a banana or tomato ketchup. i also suspect that the chicken is a spring one since it was pretty small, despite what we ordered was a half one.
the other one is what they called a the sop buntot. it is what i believe an equivalent of beef bulalo, which guess what? it was sort of. on its side there's some bunch of flaky slabs of chips and three ingredients to improve the taste: some sort of soy sauce, chili flakes and a slice of lime. i do love it though. the dish is accompanied by few slices of vegetables such as carrots and potatoes. quite comforting, since it's practically the rainy days.
for our drinks i tried the es soda limo a variant of lemon soda with some sweet syrup suspended at the bottom that you'll have to mix with crushed ice. it was refreshing and delicious. i can't remember what my boss and her husband ordered. although they shared, it was some sort of avocado shake slathered with chocolate syrup and given with a separate helping of crushed chocolate flakes.
lastly, we ordered this salad medley called rujak. it consisted of slices of turnips, cucumber, pineapples and almost unripe mangoes. at the center of it was a little intriguing, a fish past sauce infused with some sort of peanut sauce. i didn't really like it too much. i loved the pineapples but it is something of a dish that i always think as something i can prepare at home. that's the underwhelming part of it. i find it unnecessary to be served in a restaurant, because the literal thing you called define in it is the sauce, which didn't hit the spot too much at all.
overall, it was a nice experience in warung. there are still tons of dishes i'm kind of intrigued. if i had the chance, i'll definitely give it another try. for now i'll maintain my judgement at a flat 4/5 for a moment.
