i enjoy exploring new restaurants and trying different cuisines. indonesian cuisine is something that i am not too familiar with so i gamely agreed to have dinner at warung when the parentals suggested it.

in true kapitolyo fashion, this house was converted into a homey restaurant. it was decorated with different asian elements and there were several function rooms that can accommodate varying group sizes. unlike other neighboring food establishments, this place can probably seat more than a hundred guests.

on the table
🔹beef rendang - very tender, aromatic and flavorful. it doesn't look like much but it was so delicious.
🔹ayam goreng (ibu wiwiek) - aka fried chicken with special flakes. the fried chicken was corny as is but was bursting with flavor when eaten with the spicy paste and the flakes.
🔹sate ayam - the only dish that was not spicy (aside from the desserts). the chicken pieces were soft and the peanut sauce wasn't as strong.
🔹nasi goreng - a meal in itself. i could probably eat this all by myself.
🔹es teler - a shaved ice dessert with avocadoes, langka, coconut and condensed milk. a refreshing palate cleanser. i enjoyed this even if i am not a fruit fan.

they also gave us complimentary samples of a pancake like dessert with butter, sugar and something else. it was so yummy.

the owners were around and they chatted with us a bit. they shared with us that they lived in indonesia for several years and they have an indonesian chef on board. they even toured us around the restaurant and showed us the different function rooms. and as it turns out the family of my cousin's boyfriend lived in indonesia years ago and know the owners as well.

overall, it was a great dining experience. i'm sure my spice loving hubby and in laws will appreciate the food and the interiors. i'm coming back for the beef rendang and nasi goreng.

it was my first time to try indonesian food and it was amazing. the prices were super cheap and affordable considering how great the food were. i think the most expensive food we purchase was around 350 pesos but the serving was quite big. most of their food are for sharing.

the place was very cozy and homey. their establishment was an old house so it's pretty much self explanatory why you feel at home when you are inside. the interior and exterior are on point. the place looks intimidating at first because when you see it you would think that the food might be expensive, but it's not.

also the staff were really helpful and they explained their food really well. tita lou (one of the owners) was very accommodating. she even sat with us and spoke with us a little bit while explaining everything we need to know about their food.

definitely one of the few new places that you should visit. 👍🏼

a friend invited me to try this newest restaurant in the booming kapitolyo neighborhood.  was quite surprised that it is huge. they have several function rooms that can accommodate up to 100+ in their mezzanine and second floor. the dining area is very spacious and well lighted. according to the owners they are just about 3 months old.

we ordered based on the recommendation of our very helpful server.  we started with the appetizer sampler that has crispy fried corn fritters, crispy fried vegetable fritters, fried tofu with stuffing vegetables and fried fermented tofu with sambal sauce and carrot and cucumber pickle.  we also ordered gado-gado salad with peanut sauce dressing.  for main we ordered the ayam goreng (fried chicken with special flakes), gulai kepala ikan (fish head curry) , beef rendang and nasi goreng.

happily surprised that i liked all the food that we ordered especially the fried chicken and nasi goreng.

to end our meal we ordered the highly recommended es teler which is shaved ice with avocado, langka, coconut and condensed milk but they do not have avocado so they replaced it with banana instead. since am a shaved ice fan i also enjoyed it.

i found out while chatting with the two lady owners that they started in legaspi market with their chicken satay so i have to come back to.try them next.

the serving staff are all very attentive, friendly and fast.

overall, i enjoyed all the food we ordered and the chat we had with the owners. can't wait to go back!

satay and nasi goreng were very good, everything else was below average. kitchen cooks at a snail's pace. would not recommend. go to banana leaf instead.

i wasn't able to take a picture of the food we ordered (sadly) because we were so hungry, but we arrived in warung very early so i was just able to take pictures of the restaurant. it was so pretty! the food was also really delicious. would love to come back here (at night) i believe it would look really nice during night dates.

immediately upon taking my seat, i tasted the sambal they placed on the table because i knew this would be the best indicator of what would come. it tasted like delicious fermented fire! i knew then that this was gonna be legit and it did not disappoint. there was not a single dud dish (and we tried a lot). absolutely the best indonesian i've had this side of jakarta. i'm going back tomorrow. you can't stop me.

one of the largest restaurants in kapitolyo, an area that is otherwise home to 'hole in the wall' reataurants with good food. walking up the balustrade to warung makes you feel you're entering a fine-dining reataurant! waring doesn't disappoint at all on the food front. some of the dishes we had - especially sate ayam and bakmie goreng - were especially good. service is friendly and attentive.

we started off with sweet iced tea and happy soda. didn't know what the latter was but it turned out to be a super sweet milky drink to which you add soda. remained too sweet!

had a very good appetizer of eggplant and egg topped with a spicy tomato relish. very tasty, though i forgot the indonesian name for this dish. followed this up with soto ayam - a chicken soup with sotanghon noodles. this was ok.

then came fried tilapia with 5s sauce. nothing too memorable about this.

then the 2 best dishes of the evening. sate ayam here is one of the tastiest chicken satay we've eaten. well roasted chicken bathed in a special peanut sauce. bakmie goreng - stir fried noodles in a zesty sauce with some chicken pieces is very good too.

we took home a tofu omelette - tahu telur - to try the next day. quite good and sweet tasting

went here for lunch one weekday and was surprised that the place is quite full, given that this is still one of the newest restaurants in kapitolyo area. the place is spacious and has nice interiors. if you're up for spicy food, this is definitely the right place to be. nasi goreng, crispy corn (which was included in their appetizer sampler), beef in peanut butter sauce and chicken satay were my favorites. nothing much i can say as i am not an expert on indonesian food but for the price and ambience, warung is a good find.

this place is a surprise. came upon this resto by accident and so glad we tried the place out. i'm no expert with indo food but this place is decent. very good ambiance and interiors. they have al fresco seating which is good for afternoon cocktails or just to hang out at night. i find the beef rendang's flavor not strong enough to my liking however, gado- gado salad was good. it was my first time to try this dish. we also ordered the appetizer sampler. it was deep fried goodness but there is a natto in there i think. in any case that was worth ordering too. we tried the es soda gembira or happy soda and i think better skip this one. it taste like carbonated pepto bismol which was a little weird for me. there is only 2 of us so we weren't able to try a wide array of food so i'd like to go back and try their other offerings.

a number of friends are either owners or friends of the investors of this huge indonesian restaurant. a rare cuisine here, it is definitely a welcome sight not just for kapitolyo but to the entire growing food scene as a whole.

when i went it was still on soft opening thus a limited menu. the list mostly contains popular indonesian favorites. expect more by august they say. this large place also has separate functions rooms and could accommodate around 150.

am a big fan of peanut butter and enjoyed the gado gado very much. the vegetables were standout fresh and its dip deliciously spiced and sweetened.

beef rendang is a must order with its tender beef and signature ingredients standing out. i love the lemon grass and ginger feel combined with sweet coconut.

the catfish is a simple dish but it was surprisingly tasty without the need to dip in its accompanying salty spicy sauce. not much fan of any deep fried variety but had loads of this.

my favorite was not even the entrees but their well made dessert, es teler. it's like halo halo but the ice super fine and extra cold. the bitter presence of avocado combined well with really sweet jackfruit, cocunut cream and condensed milk. you have to get this!

i absolutely enjoyed my dining experience here at warung kapitolyo. i love indonesian food and it is very difficult to find good indonesian food here in metro manila.

first of all, the ambiance. the restaurant is nice and cozy inside. there were some accents that make the space interesting such as chairs and pillars from indonesia.

everything that we sampled were delicious. we had perkedel jagung (corn fritters), gado-gado (mixed veg with peanut sauce), sate ayam (chicken sate), and bakmi goreng (stir fried noodles). the taste of the dishes weren't too strong nor lacking. the servings were generous too. the price? pretty affordable. each item that we ordered were less than 200 php.

last is the service. excellent. the staff were very attentive to our needs.

i am glad that there's an indonesian restaurant near our home now. i do wish they add more items like ketoprak, tempe goreng, ayam penyet, and soto ayam. :)

so nice to see authentic indonesian design and products. loved their sate ayam (grilled but chicken meat was soft), i was scooping and savoring its sauce. delicious with their nasi goreng rice. rice was also a delight and worked well with all our main dishes (beef rendang, chicken). will be back, "terimakasi" (thank you!)

i visited warung last night, great authentic indonesian cuisine in a very modern and homey ambience. my favourite dishes were the ayam goren ibu wiwiek which is good for sharing, the beef rendang and sate ayam (chicken skewers) and meatball soup.  i wanted to try the dessert 'es teler' although it was sold out at that time of the evening so definitely will be back.  martabak telur was also a great dessert.
