sad to say that this place was disappointing. i was thrilled there was a place dedicated to just burgers, one of my faves, but the reality fell short. i had the big cheese with homemade pimento cheese, and my friend had the fried green tomato burger. we both took a bite and reached for the salt shaker. were it not for the toppings, once we reached the middle, they would have been flavorless. if you're going to call yourself a burger place, that patty should speak for itself with flavor. they just didn't bring it at this place.

burger bliss. let me start by saying that i really, really love burgers. i'm a serious burger junkie and i'm always looking for the next awesome burger find and with the urban stack i can say that i have!

we had a short wait (about 20 minutes) on a saturday evening so nothing out of the ordinary and our server was friendly and helpful.

the menu is a bit overwhelming with tons of whiskey and burger choices and after a long internal debate i decided on the gourmet bacon cheeseburger. wagyu kobe beef, bacon onion compote, bleu and gruyere cheese and beautiful hydroponic lettuce. not to mention pickles done in house.

i bit into it and can honestly say it was the juiciest, most flavorful burger i've ever had in my life. the compote was a revelation and the pickles added to the burger brought it all together. 3 hours later i could still taste it. honestly, the best burger i've ever had.

nice environment coupled with a great beer rotation selection made this an incredible experience.

i thought i'd give urban stack a last chance, and they blew it...again. the medium well burger was rare, service spotty, and it took over an hour to be served when it was only moderately busy. if i had a scruffy beard and wore a hat indoors, perhaps i would have blended better. as it is, this place is barely mediocre and typical of the "new chattanooga" sponsored by the foundation of the week:

urban stack offers one of the most unique style/combinations i've ever seen. the bottom line is that political correctness has now hit both burger joints and whiskey bars, and combined, urban stack is the result. because it's brand new, i make allowances for service, but they did pretty well with knowledge of the menu and accuracy of the order. the variety of burgers ranges from the merely different to absolutely weird, and they're not excited about making "your way". in fact, it's all about "their way", but i talked them into what i wanted. i upgraded from angus beef to the angus chuck/angus brisket blend. yes, i said upgrade the meat. tasty yes, worth an extra 3.00...no. so here's the summary - service is pretty good. presentation is definitely not what you'd expect, which isn't bad. value is terrible though, and frankly the food hangs around fair. but this is great for a post 5 meeting place. it looks a hell of a lot better than it tastes, much like its sister place - taco mamacitos

upon entering immediately love the layout of the restaurant. the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. the menu offered some unique dishes. we started off with the pimento cheese dip and had custom burgers for our entree. everything was wonderful, we'll revisit!

great food, great service, crazy alcohol menu. our server was faith and she was wonderful! the upgrade to kobe beef is $3 but it melts in your mouth!

nice "hipster" type place. loved the decor and atmosphere. started with the pickle plate which was good. the hot pickled veggies were better than the fire & ice house pickles. we both had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. the balsamic onions and chipotle ketchup really made this burger stand out. washed it all down with a chattanooga brewing company bock that is now in my top 10 beers ever.

outstanding burgers. i ate here tuesday evening and had the most delicious burger ever. at the suggestion of the bartender, i had the farm burger with sweet potato fries. it was amazing -the meat cooked to perfection, the veggies were fresh, and the relish delicious. if i lived in chattanooga, then i would visit more often. i highly recommend urban stack!

the burger was very good-the bun was firm and chewy, the beef patty was juicy, moist and slightly crisp, the egg was tasty and runny & the bacon was thick-cut and crispy-all the components for a tasty breakfast burger were present. the homemade pickles and white vinegar mayo was also tasty and helped to enhance the burger too

this one is tough to score. as one of our many loyal readers asked, does urban stack, with its 100% vegetarian fed, hormone & antibiotic free beef, choice of four cheeses, including house-made pimento cheese and chipotle ketchup, fall within our “nothing fancy” motto? maybe not, but what’s done is done and we’ll just have to deal with it.

overall excellent. the service was great, we were told we'd have to wait about ten or fifteen minutes, and only ended up waiting about three. waiter was extremely kind and checked on us several times to ensure we were satisfied. the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was amazing! vegan options in restaurants tend to be bland and tasteless, as if they were just a sad attempt at making a "regular" dish vegan. the vegan shroom burger was fantastic though. i only wish they had more vegan options. i was also very impressed with their status as being "green" and leed certified.

follow up. i went to urban stack a few days ago and was very pleased with my visit. we were told it would be a 30-35 minute wait and it was actually about 15. it's always been a fun spot with a great atmosphere, but this time i got something other than a burger. i ordered the dirty bird chicken sandwich. it was a delicious, huge piece of fried chicken topped with melted cheddar and served with a side of honey hot sauce. the chicken was fried to perfection and the honey hot sauce was outstanding. i am very pleased to have found something outside a burger at urban stack because it's a great place to visit and although i was disappointed in their burgers on my previous trips, now i'll have a reason to go back more often.

great spot, better burgers exist. like i have said about the other spots the owners have, urban stack is a great atmosphere and concept, but the food is very average. the bun is actually the star of the show, one of the best i have ever had, but the meat and toppings lack flavor in a big way. like taco mamacita, there will be a wait no matter what time of day you go which is the theme of these owners restaurants. i won't say don't go to urban stack, but i would not expect a ton of flavor from your burger but it will look awesome and there is an impressive selection to choose from. go get the gouda burger at tremont tavern....now that's worth a wait!
