if you were a tuks student, and never tasted uncle faouzi - you have done it wrong!
thee place to be after a heavy night or during such night. chicken burgers are awesome! not entirely certain what goes into that sauce, but it sure tastes amazing at 3am.

it's all part of thestudentexperience, every tukkie or new pretoria resident needs to try it at least once. i love the falafel, wraps and burger specials. nice and greasy old school styled take aways... great garlic and chilli sauces. salivating just thinking about it.

uncle faouzi’s becomes a kind of comfort food if you’re astudentliving in hatfield - a place you’ll speak highly of but then get strange looks from your parents when you bring them around to the shop (which has entire cabinet of hookahs, i might add). their food is cheap, delicious, filling and they’re open 24/7. what more could you want from a takeaway restaurant? in coming to the store, you may be overwhelmed by the amount of people who will probably come up to you and ask for money or food but, while they may appear overbearing, i’ve never experienced any violence or theft here - so just pack some extra food in, if possible, and do a good thing on your way to your shawarma.

best place to go for those late night craving or post turn-up munchies. it's alway open which makes it supper conviniet. the food has unique flavours from their great sauces. mostly astudenthangout spot but you can swing a family meal there too

as astudentat the university of pretoria trust and believe that this is the go-to-spot for the most succulent chicken wings on the block and about 50 blocks more?

this is a chill spot to enjoy not only food but some hubbly (rentable and purchasable) at the till) while you wait for your food and after you've had your meal with all kinds of flavors and coals.

the wings come in different flavors ranging from hot to mild to barbecue!
quick note is know that this is a very popular and iconic joint on this side of pretoria so you'll probably find a queue regardless of the time you go!

no pictures taken sadly on this quick visit but it is definitely a place to visit!!!

i have always been a huge fan of uncle faouzi, from mystudentdays right up till now. i have never been disappointed. everything is always hot and fresh and really delicious.

i opted to order my wrap 'hot' for a change, and it really delivered. i was fine until half way through my wrap and then it was quite different to eat it because it was so spicy! but i loved every second! it was delicious!

we also ordered a medium fries..which were disappointing as i had always enjoyed them before, but they have changed them now. the portion is a lot smaller and they taste and look exact like mcdonald's fries.

uncle faouzi will always remain a firm favourite.

the food is much better than the look of the place the menu is centered to one idea and the food taste amazing its a great lebanese experience at astudentfriendly cost but the service is slow they skip around numbers and the portions vary from time to time

i absolutely love uncle faouzi, it i more of a take away restaurant in my opinion but the atmosphere is definitely one of students and young adults. be sure to place an order before lunch time as they can get very busy!
as astudentwe ordered here almost everyday (i picked up so much weight, but it was worth it!) - 

my absolute favourite dish to this day is the chicken burger special with garlic / peri-peri sauce. it is amazing, the chips are also very good and just completes the dish. another favourite is the falafel wrap - its a slightly healthier option, but is just as delicious
my husband and i still drive past there and have midnight snacks after a night out.

yes, you are probably judging me as you are reading this, but let's be honest. this isstudentfood. you can't compare it to up-market restaurants... but if you're having a wild night out and you're slightly low on budget, there really isn't anything wrong with a meal at good ol' uncle faouzi's. as a vegetarian i know there'll always be a wide variety of meals suitable for me at uncle faouzi and it won't break the bank. i am not ashamed to admit that i am a fan.

after a little party-party, there is nothing better than an uncle faouzi chicken club wrap.

yes, the restaurant desperately needs a lick of paint and some re-branding (that yellow is just awful) but there's something about its grungystudentatmosphere that i don't think should ever change.

i wouldn't say people should travel far to eat here (it really is just a regular take-away joint) but if you are in the area, stop by for a wrap and some hubbly. the prices are fantastic too! from a joburger's perspective, anyway.
