overall not that good. long wait time even for a table for 2. the pizza was ok. nothing special. the mushroom and arugula pizza was good but not great. too much smoky flavor and not enough of the truffle oil promised on the menu. the pizza crust was a disappointment. no flavor and pastry flakey texture. we had a bottle of one of the melbecs. meh. the atmosphere was pretty cool i guess. busy and buzzing! it's definitely a scene- but if you want exceptional pizza you'd best go to without papers. you get the same cool vibe but way better tasting pizza!

nothing special.. after reading the reviews i was willing to try una even with the wait times and crowded atmosphere. unfortunately it was disappointing.

we did manage to get in quickly as 2. sitting within 1 foot of the other diner was a bit uncomfortable but i do understand the space limitations they are working with.

our service was great - considering how busy they our i was very impressed by our server.

started with house wine. although they have a good list - there are not many options by the glass. i also found it a bit over priced. i almost sent the red back when i received it as it was served warm. even room temperature would have been fine but warm wine - gross.

ordered the swiss chard & salami pizzas. the swiss chard was nice on the pizza - however overall there wasn't much flavour. barely any sauce so it really tasted like bread with cheese and greens. the crust on both pizzas was a nice texture but no flavour. this was the first time i haven't eaten the crust on a pizza...

the salami pizza was a lot better. the ingredients were tasty but the pizza was soggy in the middle from the pile of peppers in chilli oil. i could taste the sauce in this pizza and it was good - just wish there was more.
i also didn't like the chilli oil and peppers they serve. i like spicy pizza and having to dose my thin crust in oil to get a hint of spice is kind of gross. i wish they had an option for peppers not in oil or regular dried chilli peppers.

overall its not worth the hype. you can get better pizza almost everywhere. sorry una

love this place!. dinner tonight with a girlfriend was perfect! the cauliflower appetizer is so delicious. the artichoke pizza is fantastic and the crust is light and crunchy. dessert and tea were also great. love the atmosphere very busy, cool and casual. and to top it off the service was amazing! very attentive and friendly. love this restaurant.

very overrated. i went with 4 girlfriends and it was small, cramped and the thin crust pizza was merely mediocre. pure yuppie hype

worth the wait. i'm definitely not keen on waiting in line for a meal, but this was worth it. it's hard to believe that someone can get excited about pizza considering that there isn't all that much to it. but, once you try this place, you will likely go back. we had a fabulous pizza, a great time, with great service.

long wait . . . . .. i had heard lots about this place and was very excited to check it out.
we ( group of 4) showed up lastnight at 6:30 and put our name on the list after being told it wold be a 60-90 minute wait. we were encouraged to leave a cell phone number so we could go down the street for a drink.
we didn't get a call after 90 minutes so we decided to walk back to una. once we were there ( and had told to host we were back) we waited another 30 minutes at the door and still we did not have a table.
2 hours is too long to wait for pizza! it is unacceptable to ask people to wait for 2 hrs considering they don't take reservations.

nobody puts baby in a corner..... my friends had been raving about una's and it's pizza. a friend and i decided to go with our two babies. we went early and the place was busy. our waitress was wonderful and the pizza was o.k. the toppings were fairly fresh and the crust was tasty. what i didn't appreciate was the one server who kept kicking my son's high chair as he walked by. i chalked the first time up to an accident but by about the seventh time without apologizing, i asked the waitress to pack up our food and we left. my 9 month old was getting pretty fussy from the constant jarring.

great atmosphere, and mostly good food!. after hearing all the hype about una, i decided i had to try it out for myself. we went on a saturday mid-afternoon and the place was essentially packed. we did get a seat right away (there were only 2 of us--much more difficult for a larger party), and i do have to say i like the cozy atmosphere and decor.
we started with the walnut stuffed dates--which were amazing! we each only got one, but i could have eaten at least 5 more! they are warm dates, stuffed with walnuts and wrapped in prosciutto, and covered in a balsamic reduction. highly recommended!
for the meal, we ordered the steamed manilla clams with chorizo sausage, the house beet salad, and the salami pizza. both the salad and the clams were delicious, but i do have to say i was disappointed with the pizza! the tomato sauce seemed to lack flavor and leaned more to the watery side, which just caused the toppings to slide off. the dough was a simple, flat crust style, but was a little more chewy, and not as light and fluffy as i prefer.
the wait staff was very good--prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable--which in calgary is often a feat in itself. overall, i would have to say it was a pretty good experience, and would recommend it to others--just not for the pizza.

una more please!. pizza and wine will always make you feel fine! this 17th avenue restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious pizza fresh from the oven. i had the mushroom pizza (cremini mushrooms, mozzarella, grana padano, arugula and truffle oil) while my wife had the 4-maggi (provolone, provolone piccante, mozzarella, pecorino romano). both were thin individual sized pizzas that went well with a glass (or two) of vino. we left extremely satisfied knowing we will return in the near future to try the other menu items.

had dinner at una again last night, as always the food and the service was excellent. three of us shared the steak with salsa verde, the tagliatelle and the kale salad. of you haven't tried the desserts yet you are in for a treat. we had the padeno and the pear sticky toffee pudding amazing. i love this place, the food is consistently delicious and i love the lively atmosphere
