enjoyed a great night at tupelo honey! the food was excellent and perfectly proportioned. the ambience and environment helped set the mood and make it a very enjoyable dining experience. well worth the price and can't wait to gobacksoon.
p.s. the homemade banana pudding is a must!

disappointed. huge let down. i have heard so many good things about this resturant and finally got to try it tonight for mother's day. so disappointed. we were sat promptly and the server was very informative and friendly, however that is where the positives stopped. the manger on duty who i found outs name was beth was sorting the orders as they came up being an open kitchen and all was visable not only did we get to see her awful attitude to her employees but we were able to see the fact that she was picking up dropped food from the counter and placing itbackon the plates and rearranging the food with her bare hands... even better she did it twice after she licked her fingers and once after she rubbed her face nose included with both hands. i watched the food like a hawk and she didn't touch my family's the server was given it directly from the kitchen staff who were gloved and seemed to be working properly. we picked at our food the burger was horrible and very dry certainly not worth the price the mac n cheese was dry and not what's expected at all my daughters burger was crispy it was so over cooked. the only thing worth eating was the salad and the bacon off the burgers. i had looked so forward to trying this resturant and it was such a huge let down!

chattanooga tn location

absolutely awful. everything about this place screams tourist trap. the shrimp and grits is overpriced, offering six small/medium sized shrimp.
and the salted beet salad is also overpriced, served with a very small amount of chopped beets with field greens. both dishes were extremely salty, inedible. no bottled water is available. sent the main dishbackto the kitchen. do not recommend.

nice atmosphere, poor service. after having a really bad experience when they first opened we decided to give it another try. i like the atmosphere a lot and really wanted it to be good. i got the chicken blt. the sandwhich was good, but the lettuce in it and my salad were wilted. my sister's kale salad had a lot of yellow leaves in it, too. our waitress was very friendly, but she took a long time getting the checkbackto me so i could leave. i have small kids who were getting antsy and my sister took them out so we wouldn't disturb people. i sat there by myself for about ten minutes before going up front to find someone to take my money. it wasn't a horrible experience, but it also wasn't busy enough to explain waiting so much. i agree with another reviewer who said the staff need better training. my waitress was really nice, just not very aware of what i needed. i think this is a cool place, so i hope it gets better.

food average at best, service worst. we took my daughter for her birthday last night. it was not crowded at all, so we (party of five) were seated right away. our server was quiet and didn't offer any suggestions or make an attempt to make us feel welcome. after ordering and waiting for what felt like an eternity to get our food (and after seeing others who had come in after us get served before us), i finally asked the server if ours was almost ready. otherwise, i have to assume she had no intention of updating us. when the food finally came, she then said "we are going to give you guys free pecan pie for having to wait so long." to the person, we all agreed the food was average at best, even borderline bad. when we finished, she camebackwith a single slice of pecan pie (for a party of five). really? that was my first and last visit.

very good experience on saturday afternoon with my wife! we enjoyed it the food was fresh and tasty as well as plentiful portion wise. it was clean and new. the value was good. the staff was polite and informative about the menu and gave suggestions on choices. our waiter had two other servers assisting him we never had to wait very long for service. we were seated almost immediately and were pleased with that too . we started with the tupelo chicken wings and they were fresh large and tasty,sweet but not spicy. we both had soup and sandwiches for our entree. i enjoyed the fried chicken blt and cheesy onion cream soup. hearty and delicious. my wife had tomato soup and the uptown grill two kinds of grilled cheese sandwich. havarti and cheddar. we will bebackoften i am sure of that! we plan to bring our out of town guests who visit. parking was not hard nor to difficult to find. many downtown restaurants are much harder to find accessible parking.

i have been to tupelo twice and i have to say that both times it far exceeded my expectations. having eaten at the location in knoxville before i knew to expect a wait. good food takes time. the kitchen in this location is extremely small as well, which could account for some delays expressed in other reviews. i felt like both times i ate here the wait both for a table and for my food was entirely reasonable, and my food came out hot and fresh. both times i had the charleston chicken sandwhich.

i thought the staff seemed well versed in the specials and seasonal menu items, so i wonder if the other reviews just got a person on their first day or something.

i will definitely bebackto this restaurant and tell all my friends to go check it out.

disppointed with the service. disappointed with the service. the staff should know the basics of their own menu. i was there with my wife but my wife had to step away for a minute when it was time to order. she gave me instruction on what to order. the order came with soup. after ordering was complete, i realize the waiter didn't ask about the soup choice. i call the waiter over to let him know but he tells me it doesn't come with the soup. i ask if he was sure and he specifically tells me people are often confuse by it. i tell myself i must be one of those people. few minutes after my wife comesbacki tell her it doesn't come with the soup. it leaves her very confused but i convince her that must be right because the waiter told me he had this question before. my wife wanted to change the order but we figure it is too far into ordering and it was our fault we misread it. well, upon returning home, i check their menu online for the helluvit to find that it does come with soup. nothing confusing about. it explicitly says "served with soup". top of all that, we were not given any utensils/napkin until asked and burger is without condiments until we ask. the lad was nice and polite but clearly poorly trained. i put this responsibility on the thc for lack of basic training. i doubt we gobackanytime in the near future. the food was ok but nothing out of this world. i wish thc remember that dining experience is service+food.

loved it. i couldn't have been happier with my first experience at tupelo. my server, mary anna was so much fun and gave my family the best service possible. we loved the complimentary biscuits and the shrimp and grits!! we can't wait to comebackfor more!

some good parts, some meh. our group of 8 girls tried out the new location of the tupelo honey cafe in chattanooga, tn last night. for some reason, i thought it wouldn't be as classy as it is, it's really a very nice place, and while it has a laidbackvibe, it's attached to a very posh boutique shopping mall. inside, the tables aren't too close together and the noise level is low, great for talking. they also have these upholstered chairs and a short bar right by the kitchen if you want to be near the action. be prepared to wait before you can see any of this however; after being told it was a 45-minute wait at 6:15, we waited a little over an hour for a table large enough, but then things really cleared out about 8:00. you can reserve a table ahead of time, but only for parties of 10 or more (and i was thinking around 7:30 that maybe we should have done that.)

our server was kind and even took the time to take a picture of us all. and the long-awaited biscuits were as good as advertised. they come with some tupelo honey and one of their branded jams, which i think was blueberry. these come complementary to the table as the bread service. i ordered a garlic chicken dish and was much more enthralled with my sides than the chicken. while the peach bourbon sauce was tasty, the chicken itself was kind of tasteless. there were three small palm-size filets and i ate 1 & 1/2 of them. the mac & cheese however was decadent and the asparagus with swiss chard had a great crisp bright taste. on other plates, the fried okra was above average, the home fries off the breakfast menu (served all day) were amazing, and there were reports of good bacon, nutty fried chicken and shrimp & grits from other quarters.

i would love to comebackand try other dishes--a trout with capers and some shrimp tacos sounded good. it would be a great place to visit and try out their extensive drink menu and some appetizers, and our waiter almost had us tempted with offers of root beer, cheerwine or nehi floats, and i'd bet they do a decent pecan pie and banana pudding as well, which were also options.

this place is a joke. this place could be completely empty, but will still tell you that there is a wait to be seated. we came through thebackentrance, walked through the place seeing lots of open tables all throughout the place. when we got to the front, the hostess looked us right in the eyes and told us that they won't have any open tables for an hour to an hour and a half. there were 5 or 6 other people waiting (two tables), that had been waiting for quite a while, but we must have seen 7 or 8 open tablesbackthere. what a sham! they are simply trying to create the illusion that they are jam packed and worth the money they charge, but in reality, they are not.
