flavourful, fast nutritious lunch is what i had here. been wanting to try this place for a while.  finally...
ordered the flames (beef stir fry with fresh vegetables) and an appetizer portion (2) of chicken spring rolls.  both were delicious.
the space is colourfully decorated with photos and murals depicting scenes in thailand. the unique salad bar and beverage fridge housed in the back end of a tuk tuk (thai scooter - sport ute). seating comprises 2 communal tables (for 22) and one round table for 2-3.
within 10 minutes my order was ready and i was enjoying it in a unique paper box which resembles a lotus flower and opens up as a bloomed lotus (cool!). the flames beef stir fry had slices of round beef blended with colourful fresh vegetables, yellow carrots, broccoli, green beans, bamboo shoots and plenty of freshthaibasil. the sauce had enough heat for me, but a touch sweet (for my personal taste). shriracha sides are available for extra heat. also came with a choice of jasmine or coconut rice (latter at no extra charge!). it is very good value for $10.
the spring rolls were freshly fried, served piping hot out of the fryer with a thimble of sweet chili dipping sauce. they were stuffed with a mixture of mung bean vermicelli, wood fungus, carrots and carrots. (2 for $3).
this reminds me of street food in bangkok, but with upscale seating and a clean, colourful washroom. beats some of the yyc food trucks for value.
i'll be back.
note: the entrance door may not be obvious. it features an automatic sliding door (a la star trek). walk towards the middle of the shop facade and the door will open. more cool!

mouth wateringthaifood . had ordered through skip the dishes and believe me the food reached in less than the estimated time for delivery .
if you are a spicy food lover , devil’s chicken is got to be your pick . haven’t tried all the main course dishes yet , but their tamarind chicken is also quite decent . the place is a must forthailovers in the town .

my salad rolls had very dry, chewy chicken in them and came with a sauce that seemed to be some sort of vinegar with chili flakes in it, very bland. unfortunately the padthaiwas much worse as the clump of noodles was a chewy block with very bland sauce, none of the bright flavours i've had with authentic pad thai, the chicken was very dry, bland, and disgusting. the dish had the consistency of leftovers that have been in the fridge for a little too long. i was so excited to try this place and it was so disappointing!

thai inspired cuisine always has a special place in my heart (which is in my stomach). the staff are very educated on the menu and are happy to cater to any dietary special requests! the portions are quite satisfying indeed and although its  a small space on 17th its a very well used small space!anything on the menu is delicious! ambiance is very refreshing and sufficient lighting great for lunch or dinner with colleagues or a date! i usually order take out since i live 2 doors down :) the noodles are well cooked and amazing bursts of what i can only assume is authenticthaiflavors!!

randomly found this restaurant while on 17th ave and decided to try it out! interior was beautiful, great atmosphere.

ordered padthaiwith chicken, the flames, ginger prawns and vegetarian spring rolls. both mains were great, my boyfriend and i thought the two appetizers were very average.

i would recommend ordering the mains only - we plan on returning to try them all! prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get.

my review is based on the green curry chicken and padthai:) this is a little fast food restaurant, clean and fast, fresh and good quality. always nice to have a meal here when i am alone or in a hurry. well, today i went there again, was a bit disappointed, they gave me the wrong kind of rice and i even found some plastic thing in the rice (the girl explained that might be from the rice sack) although they made a new one for me, that was a bit gross, should i still think that they are clean...i changed the rating from 4 to 3...

tasty enough for a quick bite. super small portions, not a decent value. i had the padthaiwith shrimp, and my friend had the cashew chicken. flavours in padthaicould have been a bit more robust, in my opinion. cashew chicken had a pretty good thing going. ingredients were fresh. probably wouldn't return, just because i found it too expensive.

stopped in for lunch during the week.  i would consider tuk tukthaimore of a fast food restaurant where you can sit and eat or take it to go.  my friend ordered padthai$10 which came in the most intricate folded lotus flower-shaped box while i went straight for dessert and ordered the sweet rice (sticky rice, coconut milk, fresh mango) $5.  while i thought the portion of the dessert was small, it was probably the right amount for such a sweet dish.

personally i think it’s a little expensive but i also findthaifood a bit pricier than the other asian cuisines. the pricing is however, comparable to otherthaifast food such as padthaiin the malls – and if that’s what you’re comparing it to, then tuk tukthaiis much better in both quality and value.

service was excellent.  i was surprised when someone from the back/kitchen, actually came by to our table to ask how our food was. elevated fast food restaurant.

although it isn't authenticthaifood place, i wouldn't mind eating here again. the ambience is great and the service is prompt. food tastes good and serves well to have quick lunch on working days.

great place. had a couple bumps in the road due to new staff however wherever they have fallen short i have talked to them personally and they always make the situation right.
i was privileged to try the noodles made by the winner of the bangkok padthaicontest. a famous old man down off of thong la train station. that is the standard to which i base all pad thais. and of all i've tried in this city, tuk tuks come fairly close. of course with every padthaiyou have to season yourself. some prefer sweeter. i myself prefer more sour and pungent. sweet pad thais are western thing, as it should have balance between all 5 flavours. tuk tuks always fulfill that craving and at a great price too.

i thought that tuk tukthailived up to mythaitakeout expectations. i was fully satisfied with my tasty meal, and will most definitley return. i also recommend buying two meals if you plan on eating alone, one for lunch and one for dinner!

i've seen this place during my numerous passes up and down 17th avenue over the months and always wondered about what the food tasted like. well yesterday i had the chance to pop by for a quick padthaiwhich was really good and a papaya salad.

the papaya salad was fresh, crispy, and full of flavour. a little on the wet sauce side but hey we did finish it easily.

the interior was quite mesmerizing where i caught myself staring at the giant montage that you just don't see these days in food offerings around town. the decorative mini cab vehicles were a nice touch.

price was reasonable at $16ish for the two dishes total. the padthaicame in their signature take out box that opened like a flower blossom into a dish, kinda cool.

i found thethaidishes at tuk tukthaihave been toned down considerably and modified to suit the western palates. i understand that the owner's desire to introduce inexpensive, classicthaifood to the people in calgary - and i gave him credit for that. but that doesn't mean authentic flavours should be sacrificed.

we had green papaya salad, spring rolls, beef masman curry and moo moo lemon. the only item i found appealing was the spring rolls. the beef curry and moo moo lemon were good, but definitely not authentic. the green papaya salad was the worst, tasted completely sour.

my first time experience here is not worthing blogging about, hence this review. i think i went on an off night, as j manzo's reviews are usually dead on for me. the padthaiwasn't particularly flavourful. the curry chicken was a bit tough and bland. the coconut rice was disappointing. short over-cooked grains. the soup was the highlight. full of flavour. i'll check this place out again, perhaps during lunch or early dinner. food is inexpensive.

how can you be a restaurant on 17th ave and charge the prices that tuk tukthaicharges, and provide tasty food with generous portions? i don't know, but i'm glad they're there! my group and i came here for an early dinner and ordered a large amount of food.  hubs and i shared the satay chicken, chicken spring roll, papaya salad as appys and i thought everything was nicely flavorful and well executed.  i had the drunken basa as my main and didn't realize there was a bit of heat to it so it was a bit challenging to eat (i am very sensitive to spice) but it was very tasty.  my brother's masman beef curry had tender cubes of beef brisket, and the pad thai's were a huge, generous portion with hints of tamarind sauce.  my brother's gf didn't enjoy her moo moo lemon as the citrus taste was too overpowering for her.  overall i think we enjoyed our meals and wouldn't hesitate to come back!
