flavourful, fast nutritious lunch is what i had here. been wanting to try this place for a while.  finally...
ordered the flames (beef stir fry with fresh vegetables) and an appetizer portion (2) ofchickenspring rolls.  both were delicious.
the space is colourfully decorated with photos and murals depicting scenes in thailand. the unique salad bar and beverage fridge housed in the back end of a tuk tuk (thai scooter - sport ute). seating comprises 2 communal tables (for 22) and one round table for 2-3.
within 10 minutes my order was ready and i was enjoying it in a unique paper box which resembles a lotus flower and opens up as a bloomed lotus (cool!). the flames beef stir fry had slices of round beef blended with colourful fresh vegetables, yellow carrots, broccoli, green beans, bamboo shoots and plenty of fresh thai basil. the sauce had enough heat for me, but a touch sweet (for my personal taste). shriracha sides are available for extra heat. also came with a choice of jasmine or coconut rice (latter at no extra charge!). it is very good value for $10.
the spring rolls were freshly fried, served piping hot out of the fryer with a thimble of sweet chili dipping sauce. they were stuffed with a mixture of mung bean vermicelli, wood fungus, carrots and carrots. (2 for $3).
this reminds me of street food in bangkok, but with upscale seating and a clean, colourful washroom. beats some of the yyc food trucks for value.
i'll be back.
note: the entrance door may not be obvious. it features an automatic sliding door (a la star trek). walk towards the middle of the shop facade and the door will open. more cool!

mouth watering thai food . had ordered through skip the dishes and believe me the food reached in less than the estimated time for delivery .
if you are a spicy food lover , devil’schickenis got to be your pick . haven’t tried all the main course dishes yet , but their tamarindchickenis also quite decent . the place is a must for thai lovers in the town .

my salad rolls had very dry, chewychickenin them and came with a sauce that seemed to be some sort of vinegar with chili flakes in it, very bland. unfortunately the pad thai was much worse as the clump of noodles was a chewy block with very bland sauce, none of the bright flavours i've had with authentic pad thai, thechickenwas very dry, bland, and disgusting. the dish had the consistency of leftovers that have been in the fridge for a little too long. i was so excited to try this place and it was so disappointing!

my review is based on the green currychickenand pad thai :) this is a little fast food restaurant, clean and fast, fresh and good quality. always nice to have a meal here when i am alone or in a hurry. well, today i went there again, was a bit disappointed, they gave me the wrong kind of rice and i even found some plastic thing in the rice (the girl explained that might be from the rice sack) although they made a new one for me, that was a bit gross, should i still think that they are clean...i changed the rating from 4 to 3...

tasty enough for a quick bite. super small portions, not a decent value. i had the pad thai with shrimp, and my friend had the cashew chicken. flavours in pad thai could have been a bit more robust, in my opinion. cashewchickenhad a pretty good thing going. ingredients were fresh. probably wouldn't return, just because i found it too expensive.

my first time experience here is not worthing blogging about, hence this review. i think i went on an off night, as j manzo's reviews are usually dead on for me. the pad thai wasn't particularly flavourful. the currychickenwas a bit tough and bland. the coconut rice was disappointing. short over-cooked grains. the soup was the highlight. full of flavour. i'll check this place out again, perhaps during lunch or early dinner. food is inexpensive.

how can you be a restaurant on 17th ave and charge the prices that tuk tuk thai charges, and provide tasty food with generous portions? i don't know, but i'm glad they're there! my group and i came here for an early dinner and ordered a large amount of food.  hubs and i shared the satay chicken, chickenspring roll, papaya salad as appys and i thought everything was nicely flavorful and well executed.  i had the drunken basa as my main and didn't realize there was a bit of heat to it so it was a bit challenging to eat (i am very sensitive to spice) but it was very tasty.  my brother's masman beef curry had tender cubes of beef brisket, and the pad thai's were a huge, generous portion with hints of tamarind sauce.  my brother's gf didn't enjoy her moo moo lemon as the citrus taste was too overpowering for her.  overall i think we enjoyed our meals and wouldn't hesitate to come back!

great new thai joint on 17th ave! the interior is filled with memoirs of thailand and have a cute tuk tuk fridge. i tried the shrimp pad thai andchickengreen curry and both were fantastic- flavourful and authentic, bringing me back to thailand. their thai iced tea is a must try as well. very smooth and creamy. its the best thai food i've had in calgary for a great price!

tuk tuk thai's price ($10 for an entree) is comparable to the food court's popular pick of thai express by being a dollar or two more expensive. while the portions may be smaller, tuk tuk thai makes up for it in quality. i ordered the beef masman curry and definitely agree that it's worth the $10. the curry was flavourful and the beef and potatoes were tender. the only thing that could have been improved was more curry sauce! i would've had no complaints if i could've drench my coconut rice with more curry.

along with that, my friends and i ordered the ginger prawns (2 in an order),chickensatay (2 in an order), and fried tofu as our appetizers to share so that we could try a few more things. all appetizers are $3 each, of which i found a bit pricey for the amount given. however, it was tasty enough that i would recommend trying out a few of the appetizers.

when i go to particular bbt shops in calgary, i'm usually inclined to order the thai milk tea (half sweet of course), so there was no hesitation when my friend recommended the thai ice tea. it was the right level of sweetness and a good refreshing drink to finish off the flavourful meal.

with an appetizer, main entree and a beverage, i paid $16. i would definitely recommend coming to tuk tuk thai if you're craving some legit thai food. it's also more affordable than the other dine-in thai restaurants that you find in calgary. another bonus is that it's open late on fridays and saturdays, so it makes a great late night alternative after you stumble your way out of a eventful night at the nearest club/bar.

ordered three dishes prices at $10 a piece. pad thai, cashewchickenand a greenchickenand spinach curry. the pad thai was the best of the three but the other two dishes had a lot of rice and not a lot of other ingredients. overall taste was okay at best, certainly not great. not sure i'll be back again as there are a lot better places in the city for a similar price. did like the take out containers.

tuk tuk thai is a delicious endeavour that emphasizes the traditional tastes of thailand. located on 17th ave, the interior is actually set up pretty well for seating, in spite of the size of the storefront. the service was quick and friendly, and the food was fantastic as well. i ordered the pad thai andchickensatay. thechickenwas cooked to a tender texture, and i found the satay sauce to go quite well with the consistency of the meat. the pad thai was well done, with a burst of flavour in every bite, and the noodles cooked to a nice degree, creating a balanced meal. one piece of personal preference was that i felt it was only slightly on the dry side after finishing the dish, and a little more sauce might help remedy that. the condensed milk roti is a must to finish off with, served warm and fresh with just the right amount of condensed milk. the thai tea is authentic and flavourful as well, mixing the strong taste of traditional tea with the sweetness of condensed milk. overall though, tuk tuk thai is definitely a great option to grab food on the go, or pop by for a quick meal!

this place sucks. had to repeatedly ask this one girl who seemed like she had no idea what she was doing if the items i ordered had cilantro in them. she said no (without even asking) salad greens were pretty much half cilantro. i asked for a refund and she just looked at me blankly and said she didn't know how to do a refund. another girl came out and apologized after a few minutes. she remade the salad for me. and then 5 minutes later, brought out my pad thai... topped with a bunch of cilantro? i just picked it off because i was sick of the hassle. she was really nice and seemed that she would be better at her job than the first girl helping me, but she was too busy sitting/visiting with friends that had come in to order. at the time they were making my food, i was the only customer there. blandest pad thai i've ever tasted. mango salad is alright but i pretty much just ate the mangos, could have gone and just bought a mango, save $5.chickensate was pretty great actually, but teeny tiny portions. would not go back. there's better, cheaper thai food right across the street.
