for years we’ve been coming to tokyo cafe. so often that the employees knew my teenage daughter since she was a toddler. after her dance recital last night we decided to stop by for a fun, celebratory dinner. needless to say we had quite the opposite experience.
our hibachi chef was blatantly rude to us. i’m also assuming he’s the owner because he’d always been present near the host stand during every one of our previous visits.
when he verified our order i told him that my daughter had ordered something different than what he had down. he gave us this horrible look that made me want to crawl back into my shell and then stormed off to the kitchen to grab the alternate ingredient.
he did not put on a hibachi show. he just merely cooked thefoodwhich, by the way, was very bland so i asked for some sauce. he gave me that look again, poured the sauce and slammed it in front of me. the two customers next to us also asked for extra sauce in which he replied “no problem, one moment.”
our waitress was not very attentive, but since the hibachi chef was so rude we almost didn’t care.
once ourfoodwas finished cooking we boxed ourfoodin a hurry and left. when we got in the car my daughter brought up the chef’s attitude and asked me why i did not do something about it. i told her i was just trying to make sure we had a nice, fun dinner together. she replied that he already had ruined that for her.
we will not be returning to tokyo cafe.
