prepare for a wait during the weekend because it’s a busyplacewhich only means one thing…great food!  now, i’m not sure what i was thinking when i ordered 2 kinds of potatoes during my first visit there but i was hungry and after 20 minutes of waiting i felt i could eat it all.  yes i failed at that but i got to eat my first rosti there, a classic swiss potato dish, and anyone that knows me can tell you that i just love potatoes in all forms so i was super excited to have it prepared in a different way than the normal hash variety.  i ordered the   rain man and sun king ($10.50) which had sautéed vegetables (served al dente) with greens and roasted potato hash topped wi

like it... love it!. i live in south durham, so always look forward to an excuse to eat at toast. reminds me of many places we ate in italy... including the set-up. it can be a bit nerve-racking when you are ordering and there doesn't appear to be anywhere to sit, but never had a problem. not aplacefor big groups.

great!. my daughter and i stopped in to toast on a cold weekday evening. the mac and cheese and gnocchi called to us, and we're glad we heard them. delicious. theplaceis so small and open that we could tell the staff was watching to make sure we were happy (if you're reading this, the mac and cheese didn't need all the salt she was pouring out -- she just didn't know the shaker was working). we'll be back for breakfast soon.

as good as berkeley. toast is the bestplacein town for lunch. it is the only casual restaurant in durham that equals the cuisine of berkeley/san francisco - it makes me homesick. the ingredients are fresh, the menu is creative, the staff is really friendly, and the prices are super cheap. i love toast.

a rare find. i have used urbanspoon several times in the past to find a goodplaceto eat not too far from where i had to go. but last night my wife and i were invited out by my mom to celebrate our upcoming 20th anniversary so i decided to try something really unique. i chose toast because when i looked at the menu i could not remember ever having anything on it. as we drove up i had second thoughts because i knew my mom wanted someplace with great atmosphere and the appearance seemed a little too simple and small. but we went inside and began a really wonderful adventure. since none of us had a clue what to order i decided to take the bull by the horns and order for us. i looked at the menu board and just started ordering more or less one of each. within 30 seconds i'd ordered a bunch of food and we sat down not having any idea what to expect. within minutes we were served some of the most beautifully presented great tasting food any of us had ever had. each dish was an adventure. my wife and my mother were in awe of my restaurant selection savvy. the bill was very reasonable. go early, go often.
