after hearing all the buzz about it, we decided to have lunch here. pasta was beautifully and perfectly cooked but not sure about the buzz. plenty of great italian places and this is just another one to enjoy. melbourne is all about great food so yeah!

this place has a great reputation. we were very excited to visit. the first thing i had noticed upon entering the venue was how uncomfortably loud the environment was. so much so that did found myself nearly yelling at my party. not your intimate, romantic bowl of pasta, candle-lit italian restaurant. the food however was solid. not the best i’ve had, but maybe worth revisiting. maybe on a quieter night?

finally get to try this place after hearing so much about it. we casually drop in for a weekday late lunch and was told there will be about 1 hour wait which we ended up waiting at the coffee shop nearby. the pasta dishes are really good, fresh and tasty. their appetisers on the other hand is pretty average tasting without much wow factor. service feels a bit intimidating, the waiter seems to have cold attitude which kinda ruined the dining experience.

i haven't written a comment to any of the stores before. but…i intend to write some points today... firstly, i found out this store is cuz the rainy day, just wanted to look for a place in the cbd that is closer to the emporium. but when i walked into this store, i felt …emmm, it was my type. from the vibe, music, decoration to the taste of the dishes, and even my picky taste of coffee, each one makes me happy. just want to say that i will go again next time.

i love everything about this place except getting a table on saturday night. imagine having to book a week in advance! above all, squid ink pasta was my favorite. ambience was great. it wasn’t a large, spacious place, rather not enough room from one table to another, but that’s what made it cosy really. situated in a very vibrant place in the city, you can then stroll along hardware lane and enjoy the wild street of italy kind of vibe.

finally i got to try on one of the famous italian restaurant in melbourne. i booked the restaurant since ages ago through phone call, which is hard to reach through and always busy.

food
1. complimentary garlic bread
2. lingua - grilled ox tongue, balsamic vinegar & pink peppercorns
3. gnocchi di patate - braised duck, porcini mushroom & pecorino pepato
4. tagliolini al nero - squid ink tagliolini, squid & bottarga
5. casarecce - pork sausage, white wine & radicchio
6. tipomisu - chocolate, coffee and mascarpone

overall, all the dish was amazing! the lingua was my top recommended dish! and tipomisu too was my favourite dessert ever!! 2nd best dish are gnocchi and tagliolini. and the last was casarecce (was dissapointed with this dish. i love the pork sausage but the pasta is a bit bland. the staffs were friendly and attentive. the place and ambience was nice, bright and airy. looking forward to come back here again!

came here on a tuesday night at 8:30 (with a booking) and the place was still packed!! i’m not sure if it was the hype from not being able to eat at this place for so long but the pasta dishes weren’t as good as we wanted it to be unfortunately.

there was complimentary bread with ricotta to start off the meal and that was actually quite nice - the bread was fresh (but also quite small in size)

4/5 ⭐️ - grilled ox tongue - the balsamic vinegar and pink peppercorn balanced the ox tongue nicely !

2/5 ⭐️ - saffron infused crab spaghettini (one of the specials) - my least favourite dish - the spaghettini tasted very average and i couldn’t taste the saffron

3.5/5 ⭐️- duck gnocchi - the dish i was looking forward to the most but didn’t end up being as great as i wanted it to be - the duck tasted kind of old and the sauce needed to be a bit richer, but the gnocchi were little pillows of joy ✨

4.5/5 ⭐️ - tipomisu - highlight of the night! definite must try and probably what saved the rating overall. it wasn’t overly sweet as the salted caramel espresso sauce balanced it out the sweetness of the tiramisu.

overall, i would come back for the tipomisu and to give the other pastas a try!

authentic and as good as any pasta joint in italy i have been to. tried the tasting $70 tasting menu which came with focaccia+riccota + delicious arrancini ball starters, 2 entrees of fresh baby calamari and heirloom tomatoes with burrata, two pastas the crab spaghettini and a phenomal gnocchi with braised duck, and a pannacotta + the tipomisu which was easily one of the most delicious chocolate deserts i have ever had. very impressed with the value and diversity here for $70, yet to find better value in melbourne.

largely simple dishes but classic flavour combinations stunningly put together and with delicious fresh ingredients. highlights at every turn but the gorgeously light and fluffly gnocchi was likely among the best i have had anywhere, with incredibly tender duck and delicious sauce that went beautifully with the pecorini. the tipomisu likely the most creative dish served, unbelievably silky texture with slight resistance without an overly rich sweetness or chocolate flavour, accentuated particularly well by the chocolate caramel sauce poured over the top to add a slight saltiness. unlike most tiramisus none of the flavours here were overpowering or sickly, that perfect balance of flavours across the board for every dish here was definitely key.
insane how good it is.

a fan of the atmosphere and aesthetic of the place too, slightly cramped and noisy but a nice upmarket casual feel and loved the sea green colour around the place and the marble benchtops + copper lights above the kitchen bench area are very slick.

for the very reasonable prices will definitely be back. fine dining level quality at casual diner prices.

giving it a 2 star rating is not because the food is not good. it’s just that it does not meet my expectation of making the booking 2 month in advance. it is home made pasta without doubt, but no big surprise. does not worth the effort of making a phone call 2 months in advance for a table. we had the ink squid pasta, duck gnocchi, bug pasta, liver entre, calamari entre. the liver entre was not processed very well and leaving the liver with very strong smell of blood. the portion is definitely not enough (i am a female who has normal size of stomach) maybe it’s an internet-celebrity restaurant , and people feel themselves trendy and chic to go there. but i am not
buying it. i won’t go back cause my stomach is just simply not satisfied.

i tried the duck ragu gnocchi and it was to die for! the gnocchi was perfect pillows of light fluffy goodness. the ragu was rich and tasty. an absolutely gorgeous dish!
cocktails are also good, as was the complimentary bread.
the staff were really lovely and helpful, and able to cater to my dietary requirements.

we had made a booking, and it is advised that you do, because it gets very busy (and even at 12.15pm on a weekday it was completely packed!). the restaurant is pretty tiny, and quite noisy but that is part of the charm. we were given a seat at the bar, and we felt right in the thick of it all. we watched the chefs make the pasta fresh in the kitchen, heard pans sizzling away and bartenders making drinks. there was a really vibrant and buzzing atmosphere.

ambience ★★★★★

i don't normally dine italian but this place is exceptional. it already blew my mind even though i only came here once.

tipo double zero. food quality and flavour was top-notch. ambience was cosy and lovely. service was unfortunately a little slow and could be improved with more waiting staffs. to be fair, it was a busy day.

loved the experience i had in tipo00. one of the best italian restaurants in my list.

have been wanna to go for a long time web celebrity restaurant finally and small partners to clock in!
generally speaking, we are satisfied with it. we have chosen monday night, and those who arrive around five o 'clock do not need to wait.
the pre-dinner bun is a little salty for my weak mouth, but it is delicious. i like the dipping sauce very much.
before the beef tongue, super tender ah! the vinegar and spice mix together, bravo!
spaghetti with cuttlefish sauce, with fish roe, it's light overall, it's chewy, i love it.
duck meat dough, my friend xunxin likes this one, the sauce is rich, the dough is very soft, melt in your mouth.
grilled lamb, not enough for two big eaters, plus the main course, medium-rare lamb, side is grilled spore kale, with a creamy flavor.
service little sister is very enthusiastic about the introduction of dishes, but also to add water, overall or good.
