overpriced and lacking quality. i rarely find myself writing a negative review of a restaurant. mainly because i think that when someone owns a restaurant know what they are doing. this doesn't seem the case. we went here for lunch. i'd thought there would be a lunch menu, but they didn't seem to have one. why would a restaurant on a service road next to an interstate not have a lunch menu? you're competing with at least a dozen places within a half mile; how will you lure new customers?

our server acted as if he didn't want to be there and gave us thechipsand salsa. thechipswere stale, oily and cold; this tells me that they were probably made the day before and they couldn't bother reheating them. the salsa didn't have any particular unique taste that most mexican restaurants have, because most make their own homemade salsa. being a person who could eat mexican everyday, i found myself only having one cup of it here.

i tend to eat fajitas when i go to a mexican restaurant, namely because you can't microwave it. however, i didn't order it here because the cost was upwards to 20 dollars, which i find very overpriced. instead i ordered the fajita burrito, which costed 14-16 dollars, which i also find overpriced. however, i am a person who will pay any particular price, as long as the food matches its price. the burrito here is a $7 one at best. the fajita meat was hard and blackened; i'm guessing the cooks over cooked the meat and decided that wrapping it up in a tortilla was a sufficient way to sell food.

overall, i believe this place has potential, but it needs a lot of in-house work. first, revamp the food quality and cooks. you can't possibly believe people will pay $16 for a burrito that is made of over cooked meat; that's what taco bell is for. second, retrain all bartenders to properly pour drinks. we had some margaritas and they tasted off putting. there's a reason the drinks have particular measurements, you have to follow them. people aren't asking for triple shots of bottom shelf tequila in their drinks; it makes the drink worse. lastly, teach the servers to greet and have a positive attitude in front of guests. this seems like a fundamental concept, but clearly it needs to be stated. servers make their salary based on tips. if the servers don't care about greeting the customers, then they should not be working the front of the house. one day, i'll give this place another chance. i hope when i do, i can delete this review and write a positive one.

ninfa’s mexican restaurant reviews: ninfa’s mexican (baton rouge, la)  ninfa’s mexican restaurant has  been around since i can remember. the are located just off the i-10 college dr. exit. this place routinely has a long wait for a table nightly. you know it is the real deal when  you walk in and see the 2 mexican ladies diligently making tortillas from scratch in their little booth for all to watch! tortillas are the best i have had by far. they will not win any health contests but the flavor is unbeatable.   ninfa’schips& dip they start off every guest with a basket of tortillaschips(fried in house ) served with a cup of salsa and their green avocato sauce. this sauce is unique to ninfa’s. very smooth, medium thick sauce is great. eric & i usually go through 2 cups during a meal.     ninfa’s queso dip for an addition we had a small order of their queso dip. we like this dip over many other similar restaurants because they have vegetables in their’s like onion and tomato. adds a v

worst meal i ever had. 13 years ago my husband and i had our very first date at ninfa's and it was the best and most special night of my existence. aside from meeting my soulmate, the food, margaritas, service, and decor were stellar. we moved out of state and just moved back. we decided to celebrate our first date anniversary where it all began. well...i had to double check that we were in the right place. i couldn't eat my food. i got the chorizo nachos. they tasted like beef and the server insisted that it was chorizo. i have a beef intolerance and now i feel ill. aside from that there were 6chipson my whole plate! for $12.95! my husband got the pork carnitas which were dry and very salty and he didn't finish either. we originally ordered top shelf margaritas but were told that they were out. how do you run out of top shelf?? so we got the ninfarita which tasted like straight up lime water from the first sip. also the decor looks like a cheap hotel and i smell like grease. our bill was $75 and now i am sick and the rest of my family is starving. the only redeeming factor was our waitress who was great. i will never ever return. i want to vomit now.

when it's good, it's really, really good. i really like some specific menu items: the hand rolled cheese queso appetizer (you need to really like cheese, to enjoy these and you'll need to share), the fresh flour tortillas, the steak fajitas, thechipsand salsa + an order of their mocahethe sauce to eat with thechipsand to top the rice.
didn't like the fish tacos at all and have tried a few other unmemorable items, so i stick to what is consistently good. i can understand why some folks didn't like it, they probably ordered something that ninfa's doesn't execute well. every time we walk past the bar (it's seperate from the dining area) is always super busy, so apparently they make some great drinks.

in love. ninfa's is sort of a monthly thing for us, if not more often. theirchipsand dip are the best, and i love their fried ice cream! they get pretty busy on friday and saturday nights though so it would be a good idea to make reservations, but they always bring out our food fast. i don't really have anything bad to say.

absolutely foul!. the wife & i went there & dropped $48, and no one even ordered alcohol! very, very overpriced! the queso tastes like a cheap version of "rotel dip" & i've had better guac at taco bell. mt wife's relleno was undercooked & the worst i have ever tasted. however, thechips& flan were to die for! go fiqure...

really good foodand service..... food was tasty, well seasoned, and well cooked. the portions were big, plenty enough to take some home. the salsa and green sauce were delicious, chipswere nothing spectacular which was kind of suprising since they have someone making fresh tortillas. server was friendly knowledgeable and generous with supplying us extra tortillas and salsa for our take home boxes. give it a try, you will be glad you did.

just ok. friday night my friend and i dined at ninfa's. it had been a few months since we visited the restaurant where we had previously been frequent patrons. of course the first thing i noticed was the new decor. i have to admit i didn't like it. for new decor it seemed very dated. it reminded me of a cheap furniture store. but we came for the food not the decor. the food was ok but several things were a disappointment. my friend and i sharedchipsand salsa, an order of beef quesadillas, jackie fajitas with the chihuahua topping and each had a bowl of xochitl soup. granted this is a lot of food. we always plan on leftovers for the next few days; however the lack of freshness of several items made this a bit difficult.chipsand salsa were their standard quality. crispchipsand fresh green and red salsa, no complaints there. the quesadilla was ok. after an extended wait, which we understood given it was a friday night; i was disappointed in the lack of flavor and excess of grease i experienced with the quesadillas. next came what i had been waiting months for, my all time favorite xochitl soup. the soup was hot and had several nice pieces of chicken hanging out in the bottom of the bowl. then i noticed that the cilantro, one of the main ingredients that make this soup awesome, was mainly a mix of yellowing stems, brown leaves and down right mushy green rot. we both picked around until we could find a few salvageable leaves to put into our bowls. the fajitas were good if again lacking seasoning. the meat was plentiful and tender and the tortillas were nice and fresh. all in all the meal was just ok. if more attention to detail had been made in the kitchen the meal would have been good
