message to timpano: please fix whatever is wrong. service and food have taken a nose dive. only items still ok are mussels, tuna shooters, and carpaccio. really too bad as the restaurant used to be agreatstand by for sunday lunches.

long time favorite but.... have enjoyed timpano's for a number of years but the last few months have been a bit disappointing. still have a good meal but seems like a number of the long time servers are no longer around which is part of the pleasure of eating there. mussels are always falvorful along with the chopped salad and marsala. last time we were there we needed to select 5 bottles of wine before we were able to find something in stock. will continue to dine regulary at timpano but hope they are just going through a change in staff and will get it back under control soon.

oysters, tuna poke, maryland crab cocktail, scallops. very frsh...full of flavor

charming yet lively. nice decor relatvely separate dining.for intimate diners. lovely staff although my waitress was not the brightest. food was delicious. pricing is reallygreatfor the quality. seasonal sangria was exceptional.

no kids. adult establishment with adult cuisine. no high chairs, toys, coloring books or crayons.greatplace!

tasty, but not the best atmosphere for a private type of event. as a restaurant,greatplace. tasty food the mussels seem to be their go to feature item when there is a group of people coming. they are great, but kind of a pain in the ass to eat when you are standing up and can’t use both hands. i imagine if we had a nice sit down meal this would be agreatapp dish to order. a big bowl of awesome roasted mussels cooked to perfection. check it out, the atmosphere is either what i would call a “loud, but intimate” type. i know strange combo. it is not a huge place, you have a little privacy, but if there are lots of people there its going to be noisy. menu description black skillet-roasted mussels -tossed with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt- 12 as a bar,greatplace! as a restaurant i think its a new must check out kind of spot. 9.4 have you already been here? let us know what you think and what is your favorite dish! beautiful atmosphere, awful food!. my son was visiting from nj and wanted to take us somewhere nice to eat. we have been wanting to try timpano's for awhile, so we went for dinner.
the service was wonderful, as were the oysters and salad, however all of the items we ordered for the entree were awful!!!
the veal piccata was chewy, the pasta with veal ragu was something unrecognizable, and the easiest dish to make, chicken parmigiana was not a chicken cutlet, but a chicken breast that was over fried.
the side dish with the chicken was a lump of spaghetti with diced tomatoes with a little oregano in the "sauce".
ourgreatwaitress was kind enough to remove the uneaten entree's off the bill.
the only way we would go back there was to order appetizers and a salad and to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere.

very nice. upscale atmosphere, perhaps a bit pretensious, but very nice. service wasgreatand the food was delicious! skillet shrimp app, 12oz. perfectly cooked filet with a flavorful char and massive stonecrab claws with mustard sauce! soooooo good!

espresso for dessert because we just couldn't fit anything else in, although the dessert selection sounded amazing.

overall a very good experience.

grade 'c'. food: clam chowder - it was good, but full of potatoes, tomato stack - slices of tomato with mozzarella in between, very average taste, for sure not worth $9.75, wild mushroom pasta - my experience is that wild mushrooms are spectacular anywhere, these were blend, the pasta was overcooked, and the dish itself was full of oil (as if they were trying to make up for something), fettuccini and grilled chicken - chicken was undercooked, the sauce tasted like it was from a can with no sign of pesto contrary to the dish description.
ambiance: not too bad, definitely trying to fit in with other upscale places like donatello. although, the huge writing on celling fixtures looks like the building was converted from a bowling alley.
service: it wasn'tgreatbut acceptable (left 15% tip) - they messed up our dishes, took a while to bring the check, and gave back the wrong card.
cleanliness: acceptable, table was covered with thick paper, however, the tablecloth on the sides had pasta stains (kind of nasty, if you ask me).
so, overall, i'm thinking that bella's down the street would be a much better choice.

food isgreatand so is the atmosphere. i like the live music. this is a regular date night spot for my boyfriend and me.

holy expensive bar tab batman!. i saw a greg norman pinot noir bottle and just had to have some! it's a wonderful blend! anyway, i had three glasses and my bill was- no lie- $68! the bottle of wine is only $12!! i could have bought five bottles!! i guess i should have looked at the price first, but i just assumed a moderate mark-up!

anyway, the muscles aregreatand the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. just make sure you look at the menu before selecting what you want!

top 3 in hyde park restuarants. i really like timpano. things to get are the mussels, pork chop, the tuna tartare or the salmon carpaccio, and or any of their flatbreads.greatatmosphere with nice decor; one of the better restaurants by far in hyde park,

awesome appetizers,greatservice, nice atmosphere. although they might not serve up the best steaks in town, timpanos has my vost for best mussels by far! they also have mastered the art of a crafted cocktail. always busy, but not too stuffy or stacked on top of each others tables. plus they usually have lovely live music including local jazz favorite lisa casalino. if you are in the hyde park area and like to people watch, they also have sidewalk patio tables to enjoy.

love love love. i personally love timpano chophouse. the ladies night is agreatstart. food is amazing, always agreatcrowd.greatdate spot or to hang with the girls.

martini, martini, martini!!. my girlfriends and i went to timpano on a tuesday night for "ladies nite." it was awesome. they had little martini and wine lists on the tables in the lounge, bar and their raw bar. at least 5 or 6 martinis were only $3.00!!! thats hard to come by. plus the selection fit every taste. anything from cream, to fruity to stout. for people who didnt like martinis, they had some house wines that were also $3.00. i loved the club/bar atmosphere as well as the live entertainment. theo valentine was the musician. she was spine-tingling! ladies nite wasgreatand we will try to make it back every tuesday.
