timpano hyde park

a must try!!. i loved timpano! we tried it for our mother's day dinner, and with a large party, i wasn't sure what to expect. i was pleasantly surprised! our server was helpful and attentive, and the food was delicious. we had a variety of appetizers- fried mozzarella, prawns and onion rings. the prawns were my least favorite; they were good, but a pain to eat, and a bit tough. i can think of lots of better ways to prepare a delectable ingredient such as prawns. for dinner, i had the shrimp diablo- it was perfect! i would order it again in a heartbeat. it was just spicy enough, and i loved the super thick spinach fettuccine! i also loved the mini desserts. i tried the tiramisu, and it was perfect! i can't wait to go back to timpano- it's definitely a new fave!

message to timpano: please fix whatever is wrong. service and food have taken a nose dive. only items still ok are mussels, tuna shooters, and carpaccio. really too bad as the restaurant used to be a great stand by for sunday lunches.

long time favorite but.... have enjoyed timpano's for a number of years but the last few months have been a bit disappointing. still have a good meal but seems like a number of the long time servers are no longer around which is part of the pleasure of eating there. mussels are always falvorful along with the chopped salad and marsala. last time we were there we needed to select 5 bottles of wine before we were able to find something in stock. will continue to dine regulary at timpano but hope they are just going through a change in staff and will get it back under control soon.

our family of 5 had reservations for christmas eve 12/24/15.  we were first seated in a booth which was cramped for 3 of us stuck on 1 side.  we were dressed up at a fine dining restaurant so did't feel like being cramped for dinner.  we were moved to a 5 seat table.  in case you didn't realize before going there, it is ala carte and that means for everything.  the "side" salads are between $11.00 and $13.50 ($12.00 for a "wedge"),but you can order 1/2 a salad.  the half salad, which we ordered, were exactly that.  if you didn't now you  had ordered a 1/2 salad you would certainly know it when it as placed in front of you.  it looked like half a salad, half the size of a side salad at any other restaurant.  i also tried a cup of minestrone soup.  mediocre at best.  olive garden's is better as are most other restaurant's that i have been to.  a "aged hand-cut petite filet will cost you $38.00, keeping in mind that for the $38.00 that is all you get.  i can get a 6" filet mignon at berns which includes a baked onion soup, fresh salad, starch of your choice, vegetable and onion strings for $38.00 and fabulous, unequaled service.  at timpanos, i had the veal piccata, which came with just the veal on the plate with the sauce.  it was a large portion of veal which i could not finish, but i would have rathered had a smaller piece of veal and at least a small vegetable on my plate.  to top it all of we felt very rushed by our server and other employees who kept asking my son, if he was done with his dinner when he was clearly still eating with fork in hand.  this happened at least 4 times.  the service was not within reason compared to the prices.  we won't be going back.

unlimited mimosas bring in very rowdy crowd!!,. have enjoyed many saturday afternoons at timpanos, but not today!! crowd of about 15 drunks were in total charge of the restaurant! not a very pleasant atmosphere to enjoy a nice bottle of wine and lunch! won't be back foe some time.

overpriced, overrated, overcooked!. we had dinner here on a saturday evening with friends...i had the osso bucco with risotto and my wife had veal parmesan with truffle mac-n-cheese...the osso bucco was an overcooked...dried up pos that was reheated and sent out to dozens of unsuspecting diners - unfortunately i was one of them! the risotto was thick and clumpy and looked like 3-day old, gray oatmeal...it had no taste except that of something was stored in a freezer and then thawed...and then reheated again - i am not joking! my wife's veal parm was bland...and was like chewing on a dog's leather toy! the mac n cheese wasn't bad tho...thank g*d they brought her a huge 1/4 cup of it...and only for $10! what a deal huh! to be fair...our salads were tasty and a measly $10-12 each ala-carte - i can swing that...not! i don't get it...how do places like this go on year after year? i never return food for simple reasons...so you basically end up paying for a valuable lesson. all i can say is that...you won't be pulling your scam on me ever again timpano man, consider this severance!

oysters, tuna poke, maryland crab cocktail, scallops. very frsh...full of flavor

charming yet lively. nice decor relatvely separate dining.for intimate diners. lovely staff although my waitress was not the brightest. food was delicious. pricing is really great for the quality. seasonal sangria was exceptional.

awful. took my wife and adult son there. drinks were very expensive. the food was terrible. sent back two out of the three main courses we had. skip this resturant. not worth the money.

wonderful location and vibe. friendly staff. i love the easy going lounge feel! and the food is just as good. some dishes add a creative spin to an old fave! (blt)

trendy for sure.. too much emphasis on presentation than food.
this is the office workers retreat more then a place to eat.
to many shirts and ties from college types.

the food is ok, but it’s not food that will stay with you and you're getting hungry way too soon after eating.

the portions are snack tray size like i said, trendy, watch your weight type.
$9.00 for a wedge of lettuce and some dressing, are you kidding ? ? !!
closer to $4.50-$5.00 would cover it.
i have more food on my plate while home in front of the tv watching “big bang theory!”

i you like trendy and presentation this is your place.

seinfeld was right!. made reservations for 2 at 7:00 p.m. three days before saturday night. when we arrived, we were told the only seating available was outside. we did not want this as an option and it certainly was not listed in open table as an option to select from. outside seating at timpano's is often too close to the road and the fumes can become an issue.
as seinfeld said at the airport regarding a car rental: "you know how to make the reservation; you don't know how to keep the reservation."
with the wide selection and array of dinning choices in south tampa particularly, timpano's should at least be forthcoming regarding their "seating made by reservation." without question, that's it for us at this restaurant.

too loud!. food good, but if you are looking to have a conversation with others at your table that doesn't involve shouting, don't bother.

no kids. adult establishment with adult cuisine. no high chairs, toys, coloring books or crayons. great place!

great lunch! everything was prepared perfectly.

while i'm not going to write off timpano (their cocktail menu alone is reason to go there), i doubt jws and i will be doing lunch there again any time soon. we're coming back to you, j. alexander's!
