hippies use the back entrance. and we did, us two chics were just stared at, but then they saw the male with us and he was greeted with a sweet "hi!". sexist! but whatever, the food was good, service was fast. two of us had the fish fry special, came with 3 pieces of fish, fries, jalepeno hush puppies and cole slaw. their homemade tartar sauce had waaaaay too much garlic in it. so much so that it overpowered the way tartar should taste, and i am a garlic lover. fish was breaded wonderfully and full of flavor. cole slaw was nothing to write home about, french fries were tasty nonetheless undersalted, but that's why they have table salt right? the hush puppies were something else! a real treat, not too spicy. the other entree was the pot roast sandwich with onion rings. he said it was very good, and the onion rings were awesome!

amazing burgers. went about 7 at night, and had the nicest waitress, she was very accomadating. we ordered the chilli cheese fries which came out nice and hot, and we're very good. then we both had a burger, one of the best burgers i've had, definitely recommend stopping here. great food great portions great price great service

amazing, every time i go, i get something new, and i never am let down. they have everything you could ask for, anything from burgers and fries, to twice baked potatoes. will be back again soon!

the rubin you have to try it!!!!!!!! some of the best sandwiches in town... friendly staff and great service... and even enough left over to take home for a midnight snack..

came here for lunch yesterday and i was very impressed. the food was excellent. the wait staff was excellent. i have been wanting to get here for a tenderloin tuesday, and the tenderloin was very good. i look forward to coming back and trying the burgers and other things.

pat and i had lunch here a few years back but it was never properly reviewed. i did mention it in a post with some other places but nothing specific to the tie dye. i remember that i ate a reuben sandwich and was not overwhelmed. that isn’t all that unusual for a joint that only sells corned beef as an option. this place has a very faithful following, and that prompted us to go back.

solid rating for this little slice of hippie heaven. the atmosphere matches the food, just a great spot to cozy up to a homemade meal served up by an attentive staff. the tenderloin and the burger were both sizable and delicious. well done hippies... well done.

flat out, some of the best burgers in town. you are not going to a fine dining establishment. you're going to a burger joint. they have some good salads, very nice specials that change every night, and dinner plans. but their burgers are great. they have a tuesday night tenderloin sandwich that you can get fried or grilled. i got a grilled, and it is wonderful. the hamburger is outstanding quality, done over an open grill, and really is great. you can get pretty much any topping you would ever won on a burger there. the hamburgers are 10 ounces, cooked to order, and flat out fantastic. i highly suggest this place for a burger joint.

stopped in for lunch on wednesday afternoon. it was very busy, but we got right in and sat down. waitstaff very friendly and attentive. we had orders of chicken tenders, the magic mushroom burger, and the can you dig it burger. the food came quickly and was delicious. i ordered the burger medium, and it was perfectly cooked. the edges were crispy, and it was juicy and very flavorful. i would definitely be happy to go back.

dining room cramped and tiny. 
service was a bit slow.
they were out of the special of the day (i think it was fish and chips)

the burgers are giant... so big you could almost split with someone.  all sides are a la carte which is weird.  you almost need to go with 2 people so you can each get your burger and share a side. 

we will go back for the burgers   the sides are just food service fried food so they are forgetable and not worth the money... yo won't miss them.

great food and friendly service!
we are in town for the final four and staying nearby.
we had the chong's chili cheese burger with onion rings and the hendricks chick chicken sandwich with a side salad. the burger was huge and juicy, had to eat it with a knife and fork. the homemade french salad dressing was terrific. gina was an awesome waitress!

i never write reviews.... ...but i am making an exception for tie dye grill. this place serves as good a burger as you will find in indy, as good or better than bub's in my opinion. it's a little cramped. and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the burgers will have you coming back. i had the zz top burger, which has onion crisps, pepper jack, jalapeños, and chipotle ranch dressing. amazing. the burger is a 10 oz pattie, juicy with a charcoal flavor. honestly next time i go, i will probably split it with my wife, that's how big it is. i live 10 minutes away and can't believe i have never been here before, but will be back soon.

best cheeseburgers ever!. great friendly service and best cheeseburger i have ever had. big and meaty and difficult to eat the whole thing.

first impressions. it was my entire family's first and last time there. sometimes customer service trumps quality of food. waitress was good. food acceptable. however, a polite request to turn down the tv (due to my forgetfulness of some family ear and hearing challenges), turned out to be a big ordeal for a gentleman that owned or just worked there. i swear he was rude and looking for a fight. he drew attention from the entire dining room. we all kept our composure and let it go, his behavior made me pay forward a good deed for another family later in the day. rest assured the table of 8 that was served today for the first time, will not be back for a second visit. i would say this place is not looking to grow or the real owners would not tolerate this type attitude toward their "customers". : (
