kolaches!. the donuts are terrific and taste even better with a small coffee strolling on the beach. the biscuits and gravy were a hit with my kids, and the kolaches were "texas-style" savory--smoked sausage, ham and cheese, and jalapeno--delish. donuts: my chocolate filled was perfect. my mom's key lime was delicious, and my daughters (who don't even like donuts) demolished their powered and chocolate cake donuts. i think my husband snuckbackand got a couple more when we weren't looking. i'm planning on going tomorrow! they're closed wednesdays, btw.

not great, not clean, lazy staff. dirty: the wooden tables featured plenty of used food wrappers, napkins, and crumbs. there were many counter girls standing around not doing anything, without bothering to clean up the tables. another gross thing: the two restrooms share just the one towel dispenser located outside the restrooms (meaning, you'll be unlocking and opening your door with wet hands). the dispenser is broken, so the towel door is left hanging open in case you want to reach into the heap of wet towels to get one. if it’s true you can judge a kitchen’s cleanliness by the cleanliness of the bathroom and dining area, then i’d hate to see this place’s kitchen.

food: very limited kids’ menu – hot dog, corn dog, or fried chicken strips (weird, hard, nearly blackened). adults had unrecognizable chicken nuggets ($6) which were weird little bread balls, almost no meat. decent burger. grilled chicken sandwich made from a frozen patty. nearly everything else on the menu is deep-fried. we got their “famous hand-made donuts” and they really aren’t special or memorable. other than wal-mart donuts and grocery-store donuts, these are some of the least-interesting, least well-made donuts i’ve ever had. they may have been day-old, i’m not sure. my kids love good donuts and they did eat these but didn't comment on them and didn't ask for seconds.

service problems: we waited a very long time (half hour?!) for their fast food. there are so many girls trying to work the register areas that they are tripping over each other. halfway through our meal we figured out they forgot one of our entrees so i wentbackto the counter. the girl ignored me so she could wander off and check her cell phone twice. one of the older ladies glanced at me and went about her business, not helping customers and just ignoring me. finally the cell phone girl returned and asked “did you want something” after a minute she found the chicken strips just laying around in the kitchen. i was surprised that no one bothered to figure out why the cooked food was not going out. she handed it to me without a word. the family that ordered after us had the same problem: 30 minutes after they ordered, after they got some of their food, the mother wasbackup at the counter saying they were "still waiting" for two of the things they had ordered. and again, the food was immediatley located in the kitchen and provided. it wasn't that it didn't get made, it was just that it didn't get served. so what they have is an expediting problem - the kitchen puts up the food, and the gaggle of girls buzzing about just doesn't notice it or doesn't care (too many facebook updates to read, i guess) and the only way to get your food is to keep going back, asking for whatever they forgot.

hours/location: they advertise new hours, open 7 days a week now, so no more surprise wednesday closings. good location for beach access, as you can walk right across the road to a nice-looking section of the beach with no commercial operations (jet skis, rental chairs, etc.) taking up public space. but you’d be better off brining a picnic than planning to make do with this sad place.

worth your time. great local joint. many flavors of donuts on the menu, but by the time we got there at 1030 they were pretty picked over. we got 1 blueberry cake and 1 orange juice cake donut. the blueberry was just ok. we wentbackfor seconds of the oj donut to takebackto the condo for the following day. we also tried their burgers and onion rings based on the recommendations of the girl that worked there. wouldn't recommend the burgers. just stick with the donuts. btw, they are closed on wednesday.

happily converted!. i am usually a die hard krispy kreme fan... however, i am now happily converted! these were by far the very best cake donuts that i have ever had! they're light and airy, and yes, i am talking about the cake donuts. flavors are awesome and they were still fresh and warm at 10:30. we will definitely bebackand will recommend it to anyone who will listen. ;-)

should be a stop on diner, drive-ins and dives. don't miss this little hole-in-the-wall while you're in town enjoying the beach.

it's a little off the beaten path for most of the tourist, but do yourself the favor and send the early riser for breakfast treats to bringbackto the fold.

b'fast foods range from the freshest, most delicious doughnuts you've ever put in your mouth (blueberry cake is highly recommended) to several versions of your favorite breakfast sandwhich (chicken & cheese biscuit is my normal order).

although, their breakfast gets the most credit their traditional beach lunch snacks are moderately priced and offer a wide variety for the whole fam, as well.

thomas' is a family owned establishment that has been here for years...the secret is out. so, don't be too intimidated if you drive up and see a line formed around the building. the delightful staff provide quick service and you'll be picking your treats through the window in no time....

enjoy!

heaven on the beach! i've eaten breakfast here for over 20 years! the biscuit sanwiches are great. splurge and have a pork chop biscuit with egg!! the donuts are fresh and very creative. i have had a key lime donut for breakfast during labor day for more years than i care to tell . the peach creme competes with the peach jam donut for "second place" in my book. i wish they were open at night-- they close at 3pm but other than that it's like i said --heaven on the beach!! take a beach walkbackto where you are staying to work off those calories!!
