the steak is great, the beers are cold, thestaffare friendly and the live music is awesome. what more could you want?
one of the best pubs this side of the city!

we ordered the tasting plate and thestaffmember who delivered it put the plate down with a shove and half the food ended up on the table, he then scooped the food up with his hands, put it back on the plate and left. there was no offer to 're-do' the soiled food or attempt at righting his disgusting error. yuck, yuck, yuck!

went to the union for the first time on a tuesday night for dinner - big tick. food was good, we had pub grub - bangers & mash and eggplant parmigiana (huuge). the place is itself was the standout: good old neighbourhood pub in a quiet back street, relaxed feel, cosy dining room and beer garden. all the tables in the front bar were reserved which we soon discovered was for trivia night.staffwere friendly and unpretentious - always welcome these days in brunswick. definitely will be back - our new favourite neighbourhood pub though we still like the edinburgh castle and the terminus.

not very gluten free friendly. not many gf options and unfortunately thestaffwere not very willing to help with gluten free options. choice of quinoa salad, steak or fish (grilled) and chips without the batter.. got the fish and chips and it wasn't fantastic. great little pub and brilliant atmosphere but options for me were a bit disappointing.

disappointing!. my family went to the union hotel for my dad's birthday. what a mistake! i had the fish of the day which turned out to be slimy, undercooked salmon with the blandest quinoa salad i've ever had. my daughter had a boring penne and my husband's burger included a burnt roll. poor dad ended up with a tasteless linguine.

the union has never had great service, but if the food was great i might be able to overlook the attitude and long wait for meals. i wish the union was the friendly local it should be, but unfortunately it's an overpriced joint with below par meals andstaffwho are often rude and unwelcoming. at least thestaffwere pretty nice tonight.

won't be back in a hurry.

go elsewhere. no. just no.

i've been going to the union for meals for years but the new chef is terrible. we waited for close to 2.5 hours for our meals, the meals have halved in size but tripled the amount of iceberg lettuce. everything was flavourless except for the foods that were full of cinnamon where pepper should have been.

there are too many better pubs in the area with better food, better service and betterstaffto bother with this place anymore.

rude staff.. rude barstaffdeliberately didn't make eye contact when waiting at the bar. will not be be back! no excuse for such poor service.

brunswick quality - the union has it wrapped. a wonderful gem, located in a sleepy part of central brunswick.

ticks all boxes.

... awesome food, boutique beers on tap, great selection of quality wines by the glass or bottle, awesomestaffand great atmosphere, a lovely touch of slightly polished rustic warmth of community buzzing ... 'quietly' .... shhhhsh .... its a keeper ... thank you all at the union ... consistently " love your work " !!

ps how good are those zucchini fritters !

food good, waitingstaffok! but a nice smiley welcome especially for returning brunswickers isn't too much to ask from the barstaff??!!!! bordering on arrogant i think !!! and change the live band music pleeeeease and we promise to stay for more beers!!!

what a nice night to spend indoor at a great pub with a great steak!..again! constancy is the key. to jps comments i completely disagree, each time i have been thestaffhave been great! the ladies rule with an iron fist and damand respect. i will safely assume that u pissed them off to have been treated badly.please do not let these people put you off. i do agree however that again the parma was awesome.

amazing parmas, barstaffare so rude and well below the professional standard. have been going there near on 2 years and everytime i go they are always the same, snobby little girls who think they are better than you. only reason to go back is the amazing food.

the food's good, not too expensive. good atmosphere and thestaffare great. good for a summer meal, even on a weekend when it's busy.
