had the soft shell crab sandwich; a bit pricey but very good- wish it came with some fries or a side. loved the homemade sauces they put on the table. nice place!

mac & cheese...best!. i ended up here sort of by default, and i'm glad i did. sat at the bar, had a couple pints from their average tap selection. ordered one steak skewer and the crawfish mac & cheese. while the steak wasn't the best i've ever had, the mac & cheese more than made up for it. very flavorful, great cheese bite and best of all; it wasn't dripping with grease like so many "homemade" style mac & cheeses are at restaurants. i loved it and would order it anytime i'm eating here.

didn't get a chance to go upstairs for blues tunes, but it looks like they have music pretty often. the staff was good and checked back but didn't hover. i would recommend!!

charcoal grill. we went to the twisted tail for the entertainment, which was good, but we will go back again for the food! the small plates from the grill menu were wonderful! i loved the adventurous cuts, and the expert preparation. pork belly, and beef hearts were both very good. i also liked the thyme martini.

our friend was visiting for the weekend, so we obviously had to hit up a boozy brunch. not having tried the twisted tail just yet, i booked us an outdoor table for sunday brunch. an added incentive? the boozy champagne popsicle cocktails i've been seeing all over instagram! . champagne cocktails aside, this headhouse square hotspot is a southern-inspired bourbon house and juke joint, with plenty of american whiskies and bourbons on offer. you can dine al fresco and enjoy the sights and sounds of the headhouse square farmer's market or listen to live music as well.

i truly like this bar in old city-it's a gem in itself.  the atmosphere is superb, giving the pub an old world feel.  it's two floors, the first mostly for dining and the second for bar lounging.  the bar upstairs has a nice variety of beer on tap and is quite cozy for socializing.  the prices are not bad for old city.  you pay for the property i suppose.  some of my favorite things here are the shishito peppers, the kale salad, and the popcorn.  i would come back for the popcorn alone!  i seasoned oil they covered the popcorn in was absolutely divine!

i had the turkey club sandwich and thought it was really good. the sweet potato fries were also good, although they had a little bit of kick to them.

i was invited to the 3rd annual dog days of summer cook-off presented by south street headhouse district in conjunction with hot diggity held on july 19, 2014, 1-4pm, under the headhouse square shambles (2nd/pine). twenty of the region’s top restaurants and chefs went grill-to-grill in the ultimate hot dog competition. there were 20 different hot dogs with tasty inventive toppings. getting around to all 20 would have been ambitious, even eating half dogs, but i did taste a respectable 10, which i have given tine ratings - * excellent - 4 tines * great - 3 tines * good - 2 tines * fair - 1 tine * poor - tarnished , and placed in order of my least favorite to my most favorite. along with pictures of the actual 1st & 2nd place winning restaurants with their big checks! #1  the twisted tail  - house made pork dogs, brisket & short rib chili.  sounded like a winner, but i felt it was under cooked and a bit too gamy -  1 tine twisted tail chili dog #2  rex  - i gave extra marks for anyone us

i couldn't help but feel like we were somewhere in the uk when i spotted the twisted tail, a pub-style bistro that serves up southern-inspired food, live blues and a pretty decent selection of bourbon.

this absolutely and without question one of the best little pubs i've ever had the pleasure of patronizing. i went here with my family after a visit to the franklin institute and we were very pleasantly surprised by the extremely high quality of both food and drink. everything exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back here again!

best bourbon selection around!. saturday night on south street and we were surprised this place was not packed! once the world finds out about this little treasure, we'll be fighting for a table. the four of us each started off with a different bourbon, so we could taste the broadest range of bourbons. there selection is the best around including bourbons you can't usually find around philadelphia. we started off with the mussels appetizer which was flavorful and cooked well. we continued with an order of the chef's special chicken shank, two pork belly entrees, and the beef cheeks. everything was so delicious that we shared all our plates! we had another round of bourbon and even tried the fudge brownie (super rich!) and shortcake desserts! our service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. we will be back!

george has gotten everyone fooled. he has been going around acting as if he is the wonder creator who has fixed up his dump restaurant into a somewhat recent place to dine. it is sad enough to say that is not even close to the case. what really is going on is that has has been taking everyones credit as his own to make himself famous.
george is so busy trying to get his one second flame and glory that he doesn't even care who he stomps on. what a pathetic loser. this is so sad.

jury is out. tried this place on friday before 4th of july holiday. heatwave must have kept folks at home because this place was deserted. the food was very good and really enjoyed the music. only complaint was that the server was very detached and indifferent. acted sort of like we were a nuisance. this was disappointing especially since there were so few other customers there. not sure if the good food will over-ride the substandard service.
