great vegetarian dishes. seafood dishes were nice. their fried rice is the best in tulsa.servicewas ok. pricing on some of the protein dishes are a bit on the higher end. nice local restaurant.

upscale thai food seems weird. in my opinion, the best thai places are affordable and not afraid to set your mouth ablaze with heat.

i had a bacon basil bloody mary that was ok. the tom yum with white fish was tasty, but they didn't make it hot like i asked.

apparently this is owned by the same that own lana thai. lana thai suffers from the same issue. they are afraid to make stuff pet pet. so i give them no aroy mak mak.

the tropical finally let me down.... i have been coming to the tropical for months, it has been my favorite newly discovered restaurant in tulsa this year and have not had a bad experience up until today. i have worked my way through over half of the menu and let me tell you there are some amazingly flavorful dishes at this restaurant: the tom kha soup, green gang curry, panang, prikking, kaprao, pad see yu, nam prik-pao fried rice, and penne keow whan (penne in a curry dish?!) were all fantastic and made me want to lick the plate/bowl when finished because of how tasty they were. on top of that, theservicehas been impeccable up until today. tonight my boyfriend and i ordered the lettuce wraps to start which were great (as usual) and then i ordered the gang pah with pork and he the garlic pepper with beef. his dish came out cold and with pork instead of beef as the protein and my gang pah upon first glance looked far more watery than i was expecting but i picked up my fork and went for a taste. though the dish had a decent amount of heat (i had ordered it hot) it was not that spicy but more importantly it was extremely bland and flavorless, i couldn't believe this was the same restaurant that i've been going to all fall and winter. when seeing that i had barely eaten any of the dish because there was no point, it was basically inedible, the server asked if it was too hot and i told her no, i thought it tasted watered-down and bland. she asked if i wanted it re-made with coconut milk and i said no and then asked if i was ok with it and walked away from the table. when she came back again to get the plates she asked if i wanted to take it home and i said no and yet there was never any offer to take the dish off even though it was essentially untouched. we go so often one of the servers knows us by name, i tell everyone about how great this restaurant is and i don't feel like we were taken care of tonight. i loved this restaurant but i will not be going back for a while...i was very disappointed in the food andservicethis visit.

delicious. my uncle phillip recommended my husband and i to eat at the tropical. the food was delicious,servicewas great and restaurant was clean. we ordered chic noodles and chicken kaproa. thanks uncle phillip!

excellent. this restaurant is classy, and has excellent spicy food. they will adjust the spice to your taste. we have tried several of the panang dishes, lettuce wraps and pad thai - all excellent. they have a nice selection of unusual cocktails too, such as the 'tamarind margarita'. theserviceis great, the food nicely presented with fresh ingredients. if you like to try something different, definitely try the tropical.

food was good butservicewas horrible. it took a hour and a half to get our food. the waitress came back two separate times to tell us what we had ordered they were out of. then the table that was next to us got the salmon that we ordered. we will never go back.

terrific food andserviceto match. fish was much better (and half the price) of similarly positioned presentations around new york city. excellent duck with delicious tamarind sauce. garden wrap appetizer also recommended. lots of thai-inspired items on the menu.

i have eaten here twice and the food is awesome. the only drawback to eating here is the surroundings. as your eating your meal you can hear yelling throughout the entire restaurant as if someone is fighting in the back. this has happened both times i have been here. i asked for an extra peanut sauce and when the waitress went to get it i heard yelling again and when she returned to my table she informed me that i was only able to have one sauce because the chef only makes so much to last the week. i thought this was absurd but i apologized for getting her in trouble. good food, so-soserviceand loud atmosphere!

heard great things from several people about food. right before we went to eat someone said to me "food is greatserviceis terrible". they were right! we stopped by on saturday night sept 1 at 7:30. parking lot was half full. walked in the door and was stopped by a party of 8 waiting for a table at the door. the hostess came to the stand and didn't even look at anyone for at least 30 seconds( was too busy with her marker and dry erase table layout). then she asks how many for the party in front of us who replied with "8" "do you have a reso" "no" "well you will have to wait for at least 20 minutes". the hostess was running back and forth from dining room while a server was visibly yelling at her in front of everyone. lame. while this is going on i noticed a family of four sitting at a table in the bar area with menus, no water or drinks and nobody ever talked to them or acknowledged them ever the first 5 minutes we were there. so finally we said "there is just two of us, how long is the wait?" " uh i will have to find out" "can we just sit in the bar and eat if it will be faster because we need to be somewhere after this?" "well you can sit there but can't promise you will get service, we are short staffed" "well if your short staffed should we go somewhere else to eat?" "well yes."

holy $&@%!!!!!!! really? i have been working in restaurants for almost 20 years, fine dining, casual dining, top restaurants in tulsa would never say this to anyone nor would they seat a family of four in a bar section with no server so they can sit there and stare at a menu with no acknowledgement. your front of the house is weak, tropical. doesn't matter how good your fish and produce is if you can't figure out how to seat people on a saturday night on labor day weekend when restaurants are slow because football just started and everyone goes to the lake one last time.

what your hostess should have said was "we are very short staffed, we will do our best to get you a table and on your way as fast as we can. if you have any problems please let me know my name is "courteous hostess name here" and i will make it right. if that is not good enough then please accept this card for a discount on you meal if you so choose to try us again. i'm very sorry for the inconvenience."

new fave tulsa restaurant. tried the tropical last night for the first time with friends. none of us had eaten there before. everything was absolutely delicious. the calamari was tender & the sauces were tasty. we each had a different fish dish, mahi mahi, salmon, shrimp and chilean sea bass. everything was absolutely perfect.
my only advice is to question the "heat" of the dish. they can "cool" it down but some of the items we had were cringe worthy hot & spicy.
we also had the banana rice dessert & fried icecream. again, perfect. we will be going back a lot!
ourservicewas tremendous. wish it were standard wherever we went. our waiter was helpful & had great input on our choices. loved him!

will be great whenserviceis improved.. really was excited to try out the tropical and am very glad i did. the location upon arrival raised an eye brow, but once inside was very pleased. the restaurant is new, nicely decorated, and exudes a fresh, tropical feel. we met our party in the bar area with a round of tropical mojitos which were excellent, but light on the booze. the hostess was way too eager to seat us, despite our request to finish up our round of drinks prior to being seated. she needs to be coached on facilitating a "leisurely experience". next we found our seats, and enjoyed the band, which was a bit loud for conversation-in my opinion, they should of perched in the bar. we started with the tropical lettuce wraps and rambutan chicken-both were truly sumptuous and very unique. the wait staff needs a tune up, they brought the wrong appetizers, and it took a very, very long time to get us more cocktails-which contained almost no alcohol. i ordered the tum yum soup, which was very good in flavor, however it arrived luke warm and 10 minutes after everyone else's. other guests in our party ordered items off the grill, including sword fish and shrimp, with basil fries, garlic fried rice, and steamed veggies. all items were so very fresh, and the sides delicious! we ended with coffee and sticky rice. the bill was very reasonable relative to other high end restaurants in tulsa. all and all a good experience, and i would recommend the tropical. the wait staff needs to be trained on how to deliver a better product. this will make or break this restaurant. really hope they read this post and get these issues corrected.

go to the trop!. excellent food, greatserviceand friendly staff. the owners put a lot of time and effort into renovating the place and have created a great atmosphere for any occasion. try the scallops or anything off the "grill menu" for a real treat. a++
