great place for fresh and light thai cuisine and perfect for a person with a plant based diet like myself due to the wide variety of options available. started off with the corn cakes, which were crispy andfriedto perfection with a warm and moist center. we then ordered the penne keow whan and the nam prik-paofriedrice, both of which i recommend to give a try. the penne was very light and creamy with a good kick and had a hint of sweetness to it . thefriedrice was quite flavorful and was accompanied with sliced apples which gave the dish a unique texture. the servers were respectful and allowed for us to feel left alone to ourselves, but they were still attentive and we did not feel neglected. i  recommend to give this place a try one night for a different take on thai food.

the tropical finally let me down.... i have been coming to the tropical for months, it has been my favorite newly discovered restaurant in tulsa this year and have not had a bad experience up until today. i have worked my way through over half of the menu and let me tell you there are some amazingly flavorful dishes at this restaurant: the tom kha soup, green gang curry, panang, prikking, kaprao, pad see yu, nam prik-paofriedrice, and penne keow whan (penne in a curry dish?!) were all fantastic and made me want to lick the plate/bowl when finished because of how tasty they were. on top of that, the service has been impeccable up until today. tonight my boyfriend and i ordered the lettuce wraps to start which were great (as usual) and then i ordered the gang pah with pork and he the garlic pepper with beef. his dish came out cold and with pork instead of beef as the protein and my gang pah upon first glance looked far more watery than i was expecting but i picked up my fork and went for a taste. though the dish had a decent amount of heat (i had ordered it hot) it was not that spicy but more importantly it was extremely bland and flavorless, i couldn't believe this was the same restaurant that i've been going to all fall and winter. when seeing that i had barely eaten any of the dish because there was no point, it was basically inedible, the server asked if it was too hot and i told her no, i thought it tasted watered-down and bland. she asked if i wanted it re-made with coconut milk and i said no and then asked if i was ok with it and walked away from the table. when she came back again to get the plates she asked if i wanted to take it home and i said no and yet there was never any offer to take the dish off even though it was essentially untouched. we go so often one of the servers knows us by name, i tell everyone about how great this restaurant is and i don't feel like we were taken care of tonight. i loved this restaurant but i will not be going back for a while...i was very disappointed in the food and service this visit.

sooo good! wasn't sure what to expect because it wasn't very crowded on a friday night. the edamame appetizer was just ok, but the 3 mushroom soup was awesome (broth based). i had the sea bass with a mango sauce, which was a delicious sweet & spicy combo with chunks of fresh mango (not very saucy). the garlicfriedrice is good.

new fave tulsa restaurant. tried the tropical last night for the first time with friends. none of us had eaten there before. everything was absolutely delicious. the calamari was tender & the sauces were tasty. we each had a different fish dish, mahi mahi, salmon, shrimp and chilean sea bass. everything was absolutely perfect.
my only advice is to question the "heat" of the dish. they can "cool" it down but some of the items we had were cringe worthy hot & spicy.
we also had the banana rice dessert &friedicecream. again, perfect. we will be going back a lot!
our service was tremendous. wish it were standard wherever we went. our waiter was helpful & had great input on our choices. loved him!

palm trees in tulsa. i was inspired by the good reviews here to give tropical a try and i really enjoyed it. i liked the green-gardeny area in front of the restaurant, but the interior is a bit more sterile. i liked the rich wood accents and modern tropical art accents on the walls, but i felt the tile floors and marble topped tables worked against the tropical theme.
in any event, i was seated promptly and i liked a lot of things i saw on the menu. i settled on the rainbow trout with sweet-pepper mango and garlicfriedrice with steamed broccoli. the trout filet was very generous atop a bed of chunks of mango, red onion, green onion, tomatoes, carrots and sweet-hot peppers. it would make a great salsa, but even in this chunky form there are very few things that wouldn't go well with this stuff! it was fantastic. the broccoli was done right and the garlicfriedrice was a great twist on rice. with a nice sauv blanc it was an excellent meal. taleah, my server, did a very nice job. i would definitely go back.

will be great when service is improved.. really was excited to try out the tropical and am very glad i did. the location upon arrival raised an eye brow, but once inside was very pleased. the restaurant is new, nicely decorated, and exudes a fresh, tropical feel. we met our party in the bar area with a round of tropical mojitos which were excellent, but light on the booze. the hostess was way too eager to seat us, despite our request to finish up our round of drinks prior to being seated. she needs to be coached on facilitating a "leisurely experience". next we found our seats, and enjoyed the band, which was a bit loud for conversation-in my opinion, they should of perched in the bar. we started with the tropical lettuce wraps and rambutan chicken-both were truly sumptuous and very unique. the wait staff needs a tune up, they brought the wrong appetizers, and it took a very, very long time to get us more cocktails-which contained almost no alcohol. i ordered the tum yum soup, which was very good in flavor, however it arrived luke warm and 10 minutes after everyone else's. other guests in our party ordered items off the grill, including sword fish and shrimp, with basil fries, garlicfriedrice, and steamed veggies. all items were so very fresh, and the sides delicious! we ended with coffee and sticky rice. the bill was very reasonable relative to other high end restaurants in tulsa. all and all a good experience, and i would recommend the tropical. the wait staff needs to be trained on how to deliver a better product. this will make or break this restaurant. really hope they read this post and get these issues corrected.

after debating between the lettuce wrap or thefriedcalamari appetizers, we choose to dig into thefriedcalamari ($9) by recommendation of the waitress. the calamari was delicately breaded and seasoned with salt and lemon. it was a unique presentation as it was served with both a sweet peanut sauce and a spicy sriracha ketchup, but it started to make sense after i saw myself and my dining companions dipping squid rings into alternating sauces. the squid had a very tender texture and light breading, which is now one of my favorit

very refreshing. had a dinner here recently with a friend. started with a very good version of lettuce wraps. had the grilled salmon with mango salsa, steamed veggies and rice very good. the seared ahi tuna was a little thin and thus the sear cooked nearly through. they are going to work on getting it right, thicker cut to show the raw red inside. finished with thefriedice cream , delisioso. great new place in the old rosie rib joint but upgraded and date worthy.
