the tilbury

had dinner with friends at the tilbury restaurant. the food was good,but the service was dreadful. management should try choosingstaffon their ability instead of their looks.

had a great experience at the tilbury hotel and would definitely recommend it to all. the venue has recently gone through a makeover, complete with a sleek and contemporary interior. the outdoor seating makes the tilbury a great spot for a lunch in the sun! 

i tried a sample of starters, with the hiramasa kingfish carpaccio standing out from the rest. for the main i had the pork belly slow cooked in hay, smoked pear, sauerkraut, mashed potato, nasturtium - a great combination of flavours with the pork belly cooked very well. finished the meal off with a variety of cheese and desserts. was not a fan of the goat's cheese, but the pumpkin panna cotta and chocolate & cardamom pudding with rose water cream were delightful. 

thestaffwere very attentive and a pleasure to deal with. overall would definitely recommend and will be back!

securitystaffis delusional refusing entrance to a person that doesn’t take drugs or drink for being to entoxicated. the female bouncer is simply a joke and shouldn’t be allowed to hold a security license. rassist behavior without any reason: will never go there again. shame on you for hiring such poor staff.

i have never been so disgusted by service in my entire life. a group of 4 of my friends visited the tilburry hotel on australia day to enjoy a nice meal. we all decided on the australia day lamb burger (which honestly was delicious, but not what this review is about). when my partner asked a lady called tracy whether he could pay extra to get cheese on it (as it wasnt listed in the ingredients), he was rudely shut down with a hard no, followed by a patronising fake smile and i dont give a damn atritude. my partner refused to eat there as he was so overwhelmingly shocked by her service. only because we were starving, wlthe rest of us decided to order regardless. when the 3 of us received our burgers they all had cheese on them. this was a massive slap in the face to my parter and seemed spiteful if anything. when i mentioned this to her (incase she mistakenly didnt have a clue what day it was) she then laughed in my face and said something a long the lines of "oops". at this point i knew she must have a screw loose. i then asked the chef whether cheese nomally comes in the burger (incase she did it to tick off my partner), and cheese is a standard. this might seem like a minor thing, but it honestly ruined our whole dining experience and its a shame that this awesome venue will be judged by incompetent and rude staff. this is my first every review and i made it a point to post because i dont think any other customer should have to experience anything like we did that day. i also believe an employer has the right to know if any of theirstaffare jepradising their business

nice location, but very pretentious vibe. thestaffwere mixed - one bartender was happy to take the time to talk me through the gins on offer but another rolled his eyes at the request of four negronis... like the thought of accommodating a decent drink order was a bit too much effort.

food not bad but thestaffreally spoilt the experience. shortly after were shown to our seats we notice a big party of ladies started arriving at the long tables right next to us. the rest of the restaurant was empty so we asked if we could move to another table. thestaffwere inflexible and said all the tables have been reserved. we were merely swapping from a table of 4 to another table of 4. they reluctantly allowed us to move. the waitress was quiet abrupt and unhelpful when my friends was trying to decide on a wine to go with the meal. she brought 2 bottles that matched our request to the table and walked away with a frown leaving us to decide. after we finished our starters which were delicious we were still hungry so we asked for some more bread (later we discovered it was an extra charged to the bill but we were not told). at the end of the meal we asked for the bill. she came back with a portable card machine. we were paying by card and each couple presented their card. the machine had the whole total already entered. so then she rolled her eyes and returned to the till and reset the value to split the bill. upon payment our friends discovered they added a transaction fee of 2% but the waitress did not inform us. we were unhappy and said it would have been nice to have been told. unapologetically she pointed out to the fine print at the bottom of the bill. such attitude! will not be returning.

i wish it was possible to give zero stars. one star already feels too much. incredibly rude staff. never experienced anything like it. i feel sorry for how unhappy they must be with their lives to behave this way. we were planning to stay for dinner but thestaffwere so rude, we left

this place is great! we've been here a few times and have always found thestafffriendly and helpful. we ate for the first time in the restaurant and found the food stunning! it was beyond all expectations. we usually just go for the bar food but decided to hit up the restaurant. so glad we did.
one of our friends has an allergy and can find it hard when dining out, but thestaffwere truly amazing - nothing seemed too hard or difficult. which was a breathe of fresh air.
this pub has something for everyone. we love it and have never had a drama, we will be back (as often as possible!)
