entering the quaint, remodelled stables of this historic homestead and gardens, instantly evokes a country farmhouse feel with a modern twist. the tables are adorned with tea sets, champagne glasses, a jug with cucumber, strawberries and lemon steeped in still water and a scrabble tile holder with the bookees name spelled out in tiles on it. after seeing this place on nine's postcards, i thought it looked worthy of a visit. i booked the high tea for 2 (generally $65 pp) and we were not disappointed. free flowing mimosas, tea and coffee for 1.5 hrs, a caramel slice, raspberry and pistachio teacake, red velvet lamington, lemonade scone with bon mamann jam and chantilly cream, champagne blueberry jelly and salmon, dill and chive on a parmesan biscuit (i didn't eat this last one due to fish aversions) were extremely tasty, but it was the chicken waldorf and brie finger sandwiches that lit my fire. gorgeous morsels of dainty food that actually fill you up regardless of size! the music and ambience were relaxed and positive and the service by the team was personable and accommodating. my partner and i thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and then had a lovely walk around the grounds afterwards as a great aid in digestion and fresh, crisp air. i recommend taking time out to visit. try early weekdays for no waiting times.
high tea: monday-sunday from 3pm-5pm
note: guy tea also available at $75 pp inc. free flowing peroni.
