i do not like writing 1* reviews. for the simple reason that it's being unkind to a restaurant in tough times like these. also, it's basically just reliving the bad experience. but then you go and have a 'not too cheap' iftar buffet at a hotel brand like hilton and have this experience. then something needs to be said. let me dive right in to it-
cost - 238 aed for 2 if you book through groupon.
ambience- pleasant. if you find a corner table .
staff- polite and ready to help with a smile. but completely clueless about the menu. to the extent that they were not even sure if a certain dish had any meat or not. and if yes, what kind of meat.
food- horrible. i have had my fair share of indian/emirati/lebanese and other arabicfoodin dubai across places. and almost every dish in the restaurant was underwhelming, cold or plain bad. the biryani was definitely stale, and tasteless. also, the restaurant is located in a predominantly indian/pakistani area of bur dubai and yet nobody had taken the trouble to mention what the dishes on the table were. just a random arabic name and to make matters worse the staff had no idea what the dishes had. i was not expecting a gourmet description. just if the dish was lamb, beef or just vegetarian. one sweet chap even took the trouble of going away to check and came back with no answer. it would not have killed the restaurant to write 3-4 words in english under the arabic names of dishes. even though it was a buffet, the staff were serving it because of covid restrictions. and while they were trying their best, the restaurant was clearly understaffed and they were struggling to manage the constant stream of people queuing up for food. the selection of starters was very limited and the desserts were extremely ordinary and gelatinous. i ended up wasting a lot offoodtoday after a single bite and had my entire iftar meal in less than 45 mins ( including the wait time) with just black dal (only tolerable dish) and roti and walked out of there.
avoid!!
