awesome beyond comparability. my husband and i had an occasion to celebrate recently so we decided to try something new and go to sonora grill. i had heard a lot about it, and it definitely lived up to the hype. the food was the best mexican i've ever had. the atmosphere was a delight, and the service was perfect! i really enjoyed my experience and will be eating there many many more times in the future.

love the salsa. i absolutely love how sonora fries their tortillas whole--it makes it more fun. the salsa is delicious. we got a meal to go a while back and we actually caught our one-year old son drinking it in the backseat. while i don't recommend going that far, i have thought about it.

between the critic's reviews, the blog post, and all the other user reviews - i think everything i would have said has literally been said. suffice it to say, then, that i like it - sometimes. a tad pricey, and a bit pretentious, but it's better than having to endure another rancherito's popping up on the next corner.

pretencious and good. it's probably the only place in ogden where you can find fresh mexican food made with quality chicken. however, it is inexcusably expensive.

medium please. i felt as though i knew my way around during my second visit to sonora grill. emboldened by two of their incredible margaritas, i ordered the mango habanero shrimp "dangerously hot." i could have had it "medium" or "hot" but, thinking this was based on the utah standard of heat, i felt comfortable going all out.

when that beautifully prepared dish arrived i took one sniff and realized that i was in way over my head. each bite was a treacherous expedition to new frontiers of pleasure and pain and it was, without a doubt, the hottest entrée i have ever had. i was able to eat it all - due in large part to strategically timed bites of my wife's seafood chile relleno (which was delicious) and a loaded corona - this despite my watering eyes and fiercely running nose.

if you like fine mexican food (and margaritas!) you cannot go wrong here. be forewarned that when it comes to heat they keep their word.

best mexican in ogden. my husband and i love mexican food, but have had a hard time finding a great mexican restaurant. we don't consider cafe rio or costa vida authentic mexican. . my husband actually lived in mexico for two years, so he is pretty picky about it. sonora grill is definitely the best mexican food in northern utah. you can tell they use fresh ingredients, the food is great, the presentation is always nice and the atmosphere is awesome. their table side guacamole is to die for! we also enjoy tacos al pastor (my husbands favorite and we haven't found them anywhere else, we usually have to make them), and chile verde to name a few. make sure to get one of their desserts - all are yummy. you won't be disappointed!

good mexican in ogden?. i am from ogden. i grew up on the likes of el matador, javier's, fiesta mexican, etc. then i moved to san diego for some time and found out in old town what real mexican food is all about. i've been back home for a while now and had heard a lot about the sonora grill at the junction. i heard things from "it's the best mexican food in ogden hands down" to "it's ok, but way too expensive for what you get."

my friends and i decided to give it a try. my first impression walking in the door was good. it's like an "out of ogden" experience; upbeat, very big with modern mexican decor. the huge chips and colorful salsas were great. a nice selection of margaritas, something you don't find anywhere else in ogden. (that i know of) i had el hefe (the chief).. it lived up to the name. i would recommend a 1 1/2 oz pour as a standard instead of offering it as an upgrade (i mean it is a $9 margarita why not pour what the state now lets you?) anyway it was good.

we ordered the tableside guacamole, because apparently you have to... that's what i was told anyway. it was made right in front of us.. very fresh..very yummy. i will be using the recipe at home. i would go back just for the guac and margaritas.

for dinner i ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos. they were served in soft warm corn tortillas (made on location, you can watch the young lady pressing them from your table) with a pineapple salsa over top. the avocado creme sauce on the side was a nice touch. the fish was tender and the tacos did not lack for flavor. i was impressed.

i have to admit sonora grill nailed what i would look for in old town san diego or anywhere for mexican food; and to think they are right here in ogden. i have def. found my local mexican restaurant of choice and highly recommend it, especially in comparison to what else ogden has to offer.

this restaurant is awesome! i loved the making of the guacamole tableside. the chile verde was so savory with the pork being tender. for dessert, the flan was exquisite and the cheesecake chalupas were the best. i would recommend this place to everyone!!!!

good food and atmosphere.. ogden has no good mainstream mexican food. if it's not a hole in the wall restaurant, it probably will disappoint - at least that's the mentality i had about going to the sonora grill, and i must say, i was pleasantly surprised! other than being a little pricey, the sonora grill offered flavors and items not found on your typical mexican restaurant menu. the food was very fresh (even the ceviche was tasty for not being next to the ocean) and presented nicely on the plates. the service was typical ogden service, slow and lack-luster (but i think that's more a function of how most people here don't tip well), but the atmosphere was very nice and new. this is by far the best restaurant down at the junction.
