the silver skillet has been anatlantainstitution for breakfast and lunch since 1956! featured on diners, drive-ins & dives, anchorman 2 and more. the breakfast is great, so expect a short wait outside on weekends. the skillet country ham w/ red eye gravy is delicious!

this place is a staple foratlantafor breakfast located at the georgia tech campus. it has been around for decades now and i soon as you step inside you are transported to the "simpler times". sit down grab a coffee and soak in the scenery. the breakfast is great anywhere from just basic eggs to one of my favorites of the breakfast variety corn beef hash. the plate that steals the show though is the skillet country ham, its salty, savory and comes with a blast of red eye gravy to give you a kick in the pants. if you are tired of the typical hipster breakfast joints that try to much and have to wait a hour for breakfast come to this oldie.

this classicatlantadiner was one of the first places i visited when first coming toatlanta- the food here is nothing special - it's good, consistent and relatively inexpensive. you come here more for the service, which is very good and provided by staff that are super experienced having worked here for many, many years. you also come for the experience - there just aren't many classic diners left - this location is used for quite a bit of location scenes in tv and movies. make sure you check out all the signed wrestling photos on the walls - the skillet was a favorite haunt for many who wrestled for wwf/wcw back in the day...

old school. silver skillet is an old schoolatlantainstitution. its the type if spot you could visit again 20 years from now and everything would be the exact same. there are a million trendy spots around town to grab breakfast but if you want a cozy, comfort food style meal go to silver skillet. and the biscuits are damn good.

some things never change (yea!). i've eaten here for years when i'm inatlantaand want a time travel breakfast or dinner--a real 50's/60's diner. the fried chicken is like ronnie lunney's "honest fried chicken"--like the kind your mammie or auntie fried, back before we got health conscious. the veggies and salad are basic stuff--nothing fancy. i love the turkey and dressing too. but you have to give them full points for their breakfasts--the pork chops (grilled) are great (although they are those thin ones, they used to do thick ones) and the ham is like what your relatives in the country used to slaughter and smoke. the biscuits are heaven--the "white gravy" is the southern staple--flour roux and milk. i love the staff--they are friendly and very helpful, especially if you are from out of town. they are famous for their unchanged decor--looke for all the notes around the place where they have been in the movies. this is a realatlantapiece of history--take advantage if you come hotlanta.
