sassy spoon offers a good ambience, a wide variety of cocktails and some interesting dishes. we tried some of the flavoured beers and their kokam beer was our favourite, the rest didn't click with us.

the pepper fry mutton is a good option in the starters for the carnivores and i recommend the avocado toast for the vegetarians. the ramen noodles are full of flavor and the kids will like the currychickentoo.

the real highlight though are the desserts and cocktails. the cocktails were potent and yummy; manhattan being my favourite. the peru + gin combo sounds promising but i'd prefer more peru in it. the mousse, sticky toffee pudding ( even though not exactly a pudding) and 7 textures of hazlenut and chocolate are yummy. the raspberry sorbet is some of the best sorbet i've ever had. the staff is excellent, always around to suggest options and prompt in their service.

definitely coming back for more cocktails and desserts.

sassy spoon

a beautiful eatery located at the far end of koregaon park lane 7
visited with friends
there’s parking available just near the entrance .
a pink coloured vintage look car & a decorated cycle make it a perfect place for photos.
inside is the ac seating and the bar
outside is open air seating with high stools on one side
tv at one end and a miniature waterfall
at the other end is their patisserie the sassy teaspoon
beautiful vintage style interiors with book racks on the wall with numerous
though it was a weekday evening , it was full , got a table outside and later shifted inside when there was a table available
the bar is unique , designed like a volkswagen van and stylish.
shelves were kept covered though since it was a dry day
there’s a staircase at a corner for taking pictures.
staff was friendly
service was quite slow but can understand since the place was fully packed with customers.

we tried :

flatbreads:
barbequechickenflatbread : was a crisp flatbread base with juicy bbqchickenpieces with barbecue sauce & cheese . was delicious

mains
1. teriyakichickenwith shitake mushrooms, togarashi dusted jasmine rice & steamed broccoli :chickenwas tender tasted delicious drenched in the teriyaki sauce, slightly salty but went well with the rice . broccoli was hard and a bit undercooked though

2. ranch style steak with queso, salsa mashed potatoes and the day’s salad: steak was medium well , mashed potatoes were very creamy , i wish there was some more sauce with the steak

3.chickenscallopini with herb mushroom rice in a porcini sauce : buttery herbed mushroom rice withchickenfillet in a creamy mushroom sauce . was delicious.

dessert :
1. seven textures of hazelnut and chocolate :
was heavenly. chocolate mousse on a base of chocolate cookie crumbs & hazelnut topped with a layer of chocolate.
hot dark chocolate sauce poured over it

mocktails:

1. very berry khatta :
their version of an ice gola in a glass . kala khatta syrup with some black salt, pomegranate seeds , orange slice . was delicious and came in a huge glass
quantity is good

i have always loved the grilledchickenwith buffalo sauce here but today thechickenwas so tough and stale . eventhough i reported it to the server he did not bother and i had to leave it half eaten and pay for it. disappointed to see that one of my favourite places has also gone down in terms of quality post lockdown.

well you have courteous staff, fresh ingredients, good ambience, awesome ambience, but what you largely lack is taste. we triedchickentender flat bread, korean chili wings, achari chicken, white sauce pasta with prawns, none of those tasted any good at all. i could tell that thechickenis fresh, the ingredients are good, etc., but the taste was just too bad, below average, lacklustre. i understand you experiment with food but don't reach a point where you care about everything but taste. i once loved ss for cocktails but this time my kala khatta cocktail was salty ughh. might not visit again.

this is a classic decor food joint. loved the ambiance. staffs are friendly.
we had
grilled tenderloin - quantity is so less. steak was tender and juicy. taste was very good.
korean chillichicken- nice dish. little bit garlicky which was good.
fish & chips - these was good except the dip.
papperdelle prawn pasta - so creamy. little bit tangy flavour. awesome in taste.
two stick pudding - this was also good.
overall nice experience. little bit costly. portion size should increase.

food - 4/5
ambiance - 4/5
service - 4/5
value for money - 3/5

i visited this place for dinner with my husband and his friend who we were meeting after a long time and had a lot to catch up with.

we selected a table in the outdoor seating area and were given the menu. while we were chatting away, the staff member asked us if we were ready to order and was standing there till we looked into the menu. i feel this being rushed to order was uncalled for. similarly, it seemed like the staff was waiting for us to leave as they came to the table as soon as we finished to clear the plates. this rushing your customers to eat fast and leave doesn’t give a nice impression.

apart from this, the ambience of the place was nice and chill. we ordered french fries, homemade pappardelle pasta, crusted cottage cheese croquettes, bbqchickenflatbread, seven textures of hazelnut & chocolate and chocolate & raspberry mousse. food tasted good. i liked all that we ordered plus the quantity was also enough for the 3 of us as we are not heavy eaters and prefer small portions.

below is my rating for the sassy spoon-
1. ambience- 4/5
2. food quantity- 5/5
3. food quality- 5/5
4. service- 3.5/5
5. value for money- 4/5

paid(literally through my nose) a visit to sassy spoon, kp. i really liked their very unique decor, the pink and blue interiors, the alluring ambience, the furniture. i particularly liked the volkswagen van bar- well stocked and vibrant!

coming on to drinks- tried a mocktail called pink apple lemonade  - had a distaste to it and they replaced it with a melon based one called fizzy melony which was good and i also ordered a bourbon with club soda.

as far as food goes the plating is remarkable but very lacklustre in taste and tang- we ordered the following:-

bbq pork ribs- the ribs was full of fat and was very hard and chewy- the pork was not fresh at all. pointed it out to the steward who was visibly defensive about it.

tenderloin steak with mashed potatoes- high average salver, steak was cooked to medium(even though i prefer it well-done). mashed potatoes was smooth and consistent.

also ordered three burgers-
crispychickenburger-  better of the three, with crispy zingy patty.

tenderloin patty burger- patty was well cooked, bacon was crisp but overall the burger was very, very dry- no juicyness, no ooze- looks like they were too stingy with the burger mayo/ dressing.

pork burger- patty was okay but not succulent, bacon strips(we were charged extra for it) was burnt and charred.  burger was too dry- not a drop of moisture or dressing on it- quite a shame at what they charged(695/-) they could have at the least be a tad magnanimous with the dressing/sauce/mayo- but they choose not to.

hazelnut flavoured coffee- milk was burnt, it was bitter and not palatable. utter waste of 175inr. pointed it out to the manager who agreed to it.

the only consolation and saving grace during the whole visit and ordeal was the toffee flavoured pudding- with very rich plum pudding, flavourful toffee melt and combines well with creaminess of the ice-cream.

service is average with occasional cold shoulders:- given the fact that i criticized the lack lustre dishes may have brought about a feeling of exclusion and elusion.
prices are exhorbitant considering the miniscule portion sizes and there is no vfm. also the complacency of the chef is clearly evident here and hence i maybe forced to label it as overhyped by the  unassuming people who patronise it unawares.

my father is admitted at a hospital in pune. and we are from rajasthan so it was very difficult to find his choice of food here. he really loveschickenand fish preparations. my friend who lives in pune suggested that i order from sassy spoon. he loved both the dishes. thank you so much for giving him and us a beautiful experience! we do appreciate it

i have been a regular at the sassy spoon for years and has been the place to go whether it’s a family meal, catching up with friends or hosting corporate dinners with visiting colleagues. the resto-bar has a certain vibe, buzz and energy to it. we prefer a table outside - great in the evenings or winter afternoons. it does get busy on weekend evenings and have seen groups wait to get a table so recommend to book in advance.

there are 2 simple reasons on why a person would keep going to the same restaurant - great food and good service. sassy checks both the boxes and am not sure what is better than the other.

service- lead by nilesh and his team of friendly staff, personalised service is guaranteed. nilesh seems to possess an amazing memory- he remembers people by name, moves around tables engaging the guests in conversations on food, cuisines and restaurants in pune. the team knows each and every dish well enough to give recommendations on food and drinks. they do describe the dish so well that you might end up ordering the same and will not be disappointed. i am sure they have a well structured on boarding and training program for the servers as the sheer consistency in attitude, attention and knowledge is something i have not seen elsewhere.

food and drinks
you just cannot go wrong with your order at sassy. every item on the menu is worth having a try. the portions are good and we being moderate eaters end up sharing a starter and main course amongst the 2 of us along with a drink. they do have specials around the festivals or occasions which is apart from the regular menu and one should not miss trying from it.
across years i would have tried most of the dishes but here are my top picks - 2 in each category

drinks
alcohol
1. red wine sangria (best in pune)
2. craft beer (love the ipa)
btw gin cocktails are popular but i prefer my beer :)

non alcoholic
1. very berry khatta (additional shot of kala khatta on the side to keep it strong enough )
2. lemon grass cooler

small plates
veg
1. loaded nachos
2. carrot and turnip cake- the crunch of fried garlic is delicious

non veg
1. grilled cuminchicken
2. crispychickentenders

mains
veg
1. quinoa burger veg (so outrageously good i might turn vegetarian)
2. baked lasagna

non veg
1.chickenscallopini
2. bbqchickenflat bread
3. fish n chips (okay greedy enough to include this!)

no review can do justice to this place without the mention of sassy teaspoon- the bakery and desserts section which is part of the setting.
1. red velvet pastry - has been an instant hit with anyone and everyone i have hosted there for a meal.
2. belgian chocolate pastry - am not a chocolate fan but missus has made sure i mention.

so go ahead indulge and enjoy.

yesterday went to sassy spoon. saw 4.6 stars as their review, my wife and i were very excited. place had style and good ambience but that is where the sassy part ends.
food sucks big time. nachos avoidable , too much garlic , too sour i mean local amchi pune restaurants serve better than these folks. 500 bucks for 5 dumplings which was below sub standard. lastly, chillchickenwithout chilli man.height of average, u guys deserve to become lower than 3.6 stars.
plus u end up paying their staff and cooks extra 700 over ur bill in service charges. guys gst ke time apna service charge rules mat lao.
this was last place in kp i will ever go.

too much sauce, butter, oil and sugar; not enough veggies; use ofchickenpatty instead of grilled chicken; salad not separated from sauce

went there post lockdown on a friday night. the recommendations were amazing and the taste of food was just wow. grilled cuminchickenwith yogurt for starters, juicy tender chicken, wasn’t expecting it to be perfect. for the main course, chickenscallopini was another perfect dish. creamy porcini sauce, perfectly combined with mushroom herb rice and thechickenbreasts, cooked just right, juicy and tender.

new york hustle, one perfect drink to go with these items.
