it was nothing special, i didn't order soup but it was brought to the table, i ate it, but wasn't crazy about it. tried the brie sandwich, very skimpy on the cheese, i don't think you really get your money's worth

food > service. never been disappointed with a meal at the owl house - especially if diners are lactose-intolerant or adhere to vegan/vegetarian diets - the menu does a great job providing tons of dietary variety. the service can be hit or miss though, depending on the day, time, and staff. overall one of my favorites in rochester.

truly unique and delicious. whenever i have friends visit rochester for the first time, this is the place i bring them to eat whether it's for brunch, lunch or dinner. both the vegan and meat options are delicious: the cigarillos and vegan mozz sticks are to die for, especially, and many of their ingredients are locally sourced.the owl house always has really unique mixed drinks and beers, as well, and they switch up their specials enough to keep things interesting. it's definitely my personal favorite place to chow down in the city!

always misses the mark. of course vegans love it 'cause they have vegan food, and young people like it 'cause it's supposedly cool. there is a lot of buzz surrounding this place, and it is usually busy, and i don't see why. everytime i have dined here i have been disappointed...the drinks are small and weak, and the food is just ok. had collard greens in my meal last night, and they were very tough. other veggies can be cooked lightly so they remain crisp, but collards really need to be cooked thoroughly.

mostly just buzz. sure the space is beautiful and the people are nice and it's super trendy, but this is essentially just pub food with some vegan options, and not even particularly good pub food. it's more about the hipster buzz than the food.

unreliable. owl house can sometimes be good but sometimes not so good. i used to love the olek's buffalo sandwich with tempeh but last time i ordered it there was very little sauce and flavor. i just tried their brunch and although my vegan nachos were good, my friend's orders were either overcooked, badly seasoned, or cold. it seems like they are getting a little lazy or just don't know how to cook breakfast food correctly. come on owl house! i know you have the potential to make great food but just try a little harder.
this restaurant is definitely inconsistent and unreliable.

great specials and cocktails. i've recently gone gluten free and i really like the choices available at the owl house. i especially recommend the specials like the salmon or steak that are usually served with vegetables and the moroccan jerky (if you enjoy a kick of spice). i think the creativity of the chocolate mousse made with avocados is amazing! i always make sure to order the pimms cup cocktail when i go, the glass is presented lined with cucumbers. the amount of attention i've witnessed the bartender pay to the drinks he makes is impressive and well appreciated!

disappointed. went to the owl house based on reviews we had heard from other people and we were very disappointed. we are vegan and were told they were vegan friendly, we even asked to see the separate vegan menu they had. we ordered the vegan cheese sticks and the vegan flatbread; the vegan cheese stickers were good but after taking a bite from the "vegan" flatbread, we realized that there was actual cheese on the flatbread. we found this very upsetting because we had asked for the vegan menu and asked for it with daiya cheese on it, so we didn't understand how they could have gotten confused. we then ordered the lentil burger with chips and the seiten meatball sandwich with greens.when our food arrived, we were given the lentil burger with greens (instead of chips) and a completely different sandwich, i believe it was the buffalo seitan sandwich ( with chips, instead of greens). we took bites of both of our sandwiches, both were very dry and unsatisfying. we returned the buffalo sandwich to the kitchen and boxed up the lentil burger (not sure why because i don't plan on eating it) and asked for the check. regardless of them taking the flat bread and the buffalo seitan sandwich off the bill, it was still $23 which was upsetting for such an unsatisfying meal. needless to say we will not be recommending or returning to the owl house.

great all around!. this place was amazing! we were in town and the staff was so pleasant! the server kate was quick, explained vegan options and gave me a separate vegan menu to "make it easier for me"

*i ordered the mozarella sticks and my sister had a watermelon, tomato and cheese salad (i forget the name). the mozarella sticks were the most amazing thing, and even my non-vegan sister loved them.

*for the main course i had saigon with tofu and homemade chips and she had the pork pull. again, both were great! all of the staff was friendly and fun

*i also liked how you could see right into the kitchen and i saw a chef wipe down the board before and after preparing every piece of a meal.

*the best restaurant i have been to in a very long time. i can honestly say i will drive the 3 hours just for date nights with my boyfriend!

*they had such a great menu all of the desserts i saw were vegan. had i not been so stuffed i would have tried those as well.

ps the only downfall is they do not tipout the kitchen staff, so we tipped them as well =)
