vegan options and more. absolutely adore the owl house !! my husband and i are both vegan and the owl house is hands down the best place in rochester. we've been going every week for a few months now and have never been disappointed by anything on the menu. the desserts are fantastic! and don't miss thecheesesticks. the bartender is great, the staff is really nice, the service is always excellent. you definately should make a reservation if you plan to go on the weekend.

to start with the place, its a cute house, turned into a restaurant. finding a parking is a bit challenging especially during the snow period.
we picked the second floor for dinner.
since we werent sure which type of wine we want, the waiter offered us to taste 4 different types and then pick our favorite. and we really appreciated this.
we got the fall guy salar which is super tasty. its was so rich with fetacheeseand walnuts. and the dressing was very nice.
the market steak was an 8 oz sirloin, one of the best i have had in rochester. it felt very light, non greasy, healthy and with tons of flavors.
whereas the fetruccine alfredo i really do not recommend. there was a lot of mushroom in it that was so thick and hard to eat. an average pasta!

disappointed. went to the owl house based on reviews we had heard from other people and we were very disappointed. we are vegan and were told they were vegan friendly, we even asked to see the separate vegan menu they had. we ordered the vegancheesesticks and the vegan flatbread; the vegancheesestickers were good but after taking a bite from the "vegan" flatbread, we realized that there was actualcheeseon the flatbread. we found this very upsetting because we had asked for the vegan menu and asked for it with daiyacheeseon it, so we didn't understand how they could have gotten confused. we then ordered the lentil burger with chips and the seiten meatball sandwich with greens.when our food arrived, we were given the lentil burger with greens (instead of chips) and a completely different sandwich, i believe it was the buffalo seitan sandwich ( with chips, instead of greens). we took bites of both of our sandwiches, both were very dry and unsatisfying. we returned the buffalo sandwich to the kitchen and boxed up the lentil burger (not sure why because i don't plan on eating it) and asked for the check. regardless of them taking the flat bread and the buffalo seitan sandwich off the bill, it was still $23 which was upsetting for such an unsatisfying meal. needless to say we will not be recommending or returning to the owl house.

great all around!. this place was amazing! we were in town and the staff was so pleasant! the server kate was quick, explained vegan options and gave me a separate vegan menu to "make it easier for me"

*i ordered the mozarella sticks and my sister had a watermelon, tomato andcheesesalad (i forget the name). the mozarella sticks were the most amazing thing, and even my non-vegan sister loved them.

*for the main course i had saigon with tofu and homemade chips and she had the pork pull. again, both were great! all of the staff was friendly and fun

*i also liked how you could see right into the kitchen and i saw a chef wipe down the board before and after preparing every piece of a meal.

*the best restaurant i have been to in a very long time. i can honestly say i will drive the 3 hours just for date nights with my boyfriend!

*they had such a great menu all of the desserts i saw were vegan. had i not been so stuffed i would have tried those as well.

ps the only downfall is they do not tipout the kitchen staff, so we tipped them as well =)

disappointing. i've been several times, loved it the the first few times, then things began to go downhill: got our reservation on the wrong day; brought the wrong dish; and then last week was the final straw. i ordered a simple grilledcheesesandwich on their delicious gluten-free bread with a side of greens - what could go wrong. there was no dressing on the greens so they brought some when asked. there was almost nocheeseon this sandwich which was burned and very small. they removed the cost from our bill but i have no motivation to come there any more. my husband's meal was overpriced and very small. what a bummer! you were doing so well. what happened?

the owl house has a corner market in rochester when it comes to organic, gluten free, and vegan options. i find myself to be an extremely picky eater and i never have a problem finding something to order when i go there. my favorites include thecheesesticks, which are vegan. the diyacheeseis so delicious, it's hard to believe it's vegan. i always order the black pepper and rosemary fries as well, although their ketchep isn't my favorite. my only complaint with this resturant lies with their condements, not very consistantly good. delicious beers available and their mixed drinks and great too. i recommend making a reservation for dinner service.

love.. stopped in without reservations on a saturday night while visiting the bf's parents in rochester. the host was very nice, told us it would be an hour but offered to make us a reservation at 8, so we grabbed a drink in the mean time, and were seated immediately at 8 when we returned. very cute place (tight seating, but not uncomfortably so) in a converted house. modern decor, with artwork available for purchase on the walls. we got the daiya cheesesticks for an appetizer, so gooey, cheesy and delicious. none of us are vegan, but daiyacheeseis so good we pick it over realcheeseregularly. my boyfriend had bbq seitan with homemade mashed potatoes and it was so smoky and juicy, absolutely mouthwatering. i had the viva verde! tacos with smoked tofu, a bit on the small side portion-wise but i didn't leave hungry, and the tofu was perfectly done, which is rare to find. his mother had a brie sandwich that she raved about and his stepfather had cornmeal encrusted catfish, that he was pleasantly surprised was cooked so well for a primarily vegan/vegetarian restaurant. both of them mentioned going there again without us even though neither one of them is vegetarian. they have a great beer selection, but your best bet for a drink is to go for the smoke monster. the absolutely most delicious bloody mary i've ever had. the secret must be the liquid smoke. worth the trip to rochester for this drink alone. can't wait to go back!

great for family. when i found out my sister's daughter's family (3 little ones) was joining us for lunch at my first time at the owl house, i was a bit concerned. not to worry, very child friendly and adult friendly at the same time. wonderful choices for every appetite and food preference ranged from beef sandwich to tofu tacos to chicken salad to grilledcheeseto blt. plus pony's of beer. we had a great time in the spacious upstairs room. going back soon (9/4)
