phone is disconnected so you can't skip waiting around to get your wallet stolen by any of da homiez who are stoned and looking to prove street cred while they wait for their smothered fries. they really need a better system for clearing that lobby out until food is ready- something like a loud speaker to call numbers outside like grandmpas burger haven does. the staff is about as happy and helpful as the staff at the dmv. these guys could go mainstream and get even bigger if they just cleared out the riff raff and raised the customer service bar for their staff. oh, and they will mess up something on your order. every. single. time... no matter if youorder10 items or 1 item- something will be incorrect. food is good though, this place would become a juggernaut if they got some proper management in there

great food horrible costumer service. i've been coming here for 15+ years over this past year the night crew is terrible i would know worked infront of this place for the past 2 years chubbys has been my go to! food is amazing but the people who work here are rude! called to make a phoneorderthey hang up! come on now what kind of place hangs up on costumers beside that almost every single time i go in they are ignore you like hello! should i but a bell on your counter always on cell phones instead of helping people out not saying all employees are horrible some have been really nice but their has been some that straight need to be laid off!!!

poor service. i have been going to chubby's for quite a long time and am really disappointed in the service. just because you are not a high class restaurant does not mean you don't need to act classy. the people are not friendly at all unless you are an acquaintance with the help. i work two jobs and stop by for dinnner on my way the the next job downtown. sometimes it is busy and i just leave other times just a few people and i am in and out. but my experience yesterday really put me over the top on there bad service. a guy walked in talked a few minutes to the guy taking orders and then a burrito came up and he gave it to the fellow. he did not place anorderbut one magically appeared. i inquired about myorderbut was told my # had not been called ok waited a little longer asked again and myorderwas no where to be found. so myorderwas rushed and i did not pay. but i waited for alomost 20 minutes for myorderthat i believe walked out the door 10 minutes prior. just because of the people that come into the establishment are not high class does not mean that people need to be treated as low class. i do like their food but am sour at the service. just disappointed at how we treat our own people.

ouch. after being so excited seeing all the business walking in and out, i could hardly wait to get my food. 3 beef tacos and 1beef and 1 chees enchilada is about as basic as a mexican foodordercan get. it is about as authentic as a jack in the box taco (which i should have just gone there instead. i would have been more satisfied and paid about a third of the price. my cheese enchilada as well as the cheese topping everything must have been individually wrapped in plastic film envelopes, the ground beef was extremely bland, and the hard taco shell might has well have come from a box. calories on a late night drunk only.

what chubbys really is! amazing. if your looking for a quiet sit down mexican restraint you will not find it in chubby’s, the original chubby’s i might add, right on the corner of 38th and lipan. it's a community location. to many people chubby’s might not be the ideal mexican restaurant.
chubbys is where the heart is, commuting here as a little girl i was in ah of all the adults shouting out to one anywhere and the people behind the register yelling out orders for the cooks we would stand there getting pushed further and further back by the 50cent tattoo machine. i would yank my dads shoulder and would ask for one as he dug for change our number was up and it was time to leave the maze and commotion.
not much has changed just maybe a paint job as i pull up to the light i already see a line forming and me hoping to get a parking spot. i lucked out, well in a way i parked by a smelly rusted old trash bin debating if i should even park there. this might have been my own chance to park in chubby’s parking lot on a packed friday night. i head to the doors soon to be stopped by old friends, which is no shock when you come to chubby’s on a busy night. chubby’s is a place where locals go to grab some 'grub'.
as the line shortens and i reach the inside i hear the same things i did as a kid people yelling back and forth and orders being thrown around. now i’m part of that chaos. walking though the doors the place still looks the same, they still have uneven floors with cracked tiles, and the atm right by the ordering counter.
iorderthe mexican hamburgers smothered. as i waite for myorderi get pushed further back by the old 50cent tattoo machine, it's still there a long with the bar stools that people lean on while they wait to hear their number be called, no to mention bonds people share with each other and the staff, the bulletin board filled with locals and the jobs they do just waiting for people to take one. .
everyone is talking about mile high mike and how he is going to bring the title home every one rally's and goes to throw their input. they come together to rally with one man and what he is doing for the down, listening to them and not the numbers being called, one person knew i was in front of them and kindly interrupted me as i was giving my input and how i felt about mike alvarado and kindly said “i think thatorderis yours” as they called it again sure enough my number was called. i thank them and they give me a genuine smile and said “no problem have a good weekend and go mike!”
i receive my meal in a brown paper bag; my smothered mexican hamburger is placed between two paper plates and stabled so it doesn't open. there is no way to eat inside of chubby’s there is only about 4stools along the counter top which are already filled with customers.
if you’re looking for a quit place to eat you won't find it at chubby’s. but if you’re looking for a community, diversity, quality of food and wonderful people that's what you sure to find when you go to visit chubby’s.

vegetarians beware!!. i went into chubby's on saturday morning for their breakfast burritos. i specifically ordered 4 egg, potato, and cheese burritos. when myordercame up, i paid and walked out. before leaving, i decided to check myorderbecause they had put their famous green chili on my food orders in the past. indeed, they had put green chili on my order. when i went back into the establishment to explain my predicament to the people at the main counter, they promptly explained to me that it was my fault. they said, "everything on their menu comes with green chili on it!" as i stood there trying to explain that i am a vegetarian and cannot eat the burritos because of the green chili, they continued to imply that i was the only one at fault because i did notorderthem "plain". not only did they make me feel stupid about placing myorderwrong, but they said they were not going to rectify the situation at all. if i wanted theorderi had orginally placed, i needed to reorder and pay again. their customer service is the absolute worst i have ever experienced my life. i have never heard of any food establishment having the audacity to state that their patrons are wrong, and they won't do anything to help recify the situation!!!

i never thought that customer service would deter me from eating at any one specific restaurant, but i will never be stepping foot into the original chubby's again!
