very dissapointing. we are currently staying in the hotel which is lovely. the ocean terracefoodis however shockingly bad. id say it was one of the worst pizza's i've ever had in my life. at r150 thats just not acceptable. the buns that were served pre dinner mustve been microwaved a few times. they turned rock hard and stale within a minute. the view is great but sadly thefoodis just terrible

a trip to durban is never complete without having the famous oyster box curry buffet. a bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. they have a variety of different curries in their buffet as well as a full a la carte menu. the atmosphere and decor makes you feel like royalty this is paired with greatfoodand great service. this was not my first time to the oyster box and definitely will not be my last.

i recommend the vermicelli pudding with ice cream, really delicious and to date on of my most favorite deserts ever. perfect combination to end off your meal.

definitely a must for anyone interested in fine dining.

we came for the view and the quality of thefoodbut it was mostly a tourist trap on the terrace grill. for a five star hotel, it was disappointing to have lower than average drinks and averagefoodfor twice the average price. the linguine prawn was basic pasta with some small grilled prawn and no esprit, the cocktail special was not even good on second attempt. our waiter was excellent, though. i would come again for the view and have a bottled beer.

a beautiful setting on the kzn coast with sea views and dolphins swimming by! all thefoodwas delicious, especially the sushi which was absolutely fresh. my 4 stars instead of 5 was simply due to my paneer curry being very strong in the heat intensity of the chilli as well as the stodgy chocolate and vanilla cakes we tried for dessert. otherwise, brilliant service (certainly the best service i've experienced in south africa) and an epic setting.

best the amazing location next the beach area and the light house, because of eid mubarak, we had a special priced curry buffet. the venue andfoodit’s self bring you back to time, have you experienced with the luxurious and delicious taste of durban.

service is professional and excellent, beautiful view of the ocean from the terrace,foodwas quick and prepared to perfection, peri peri chicken moist and succulent, sirloin was prepared perfectly (medium).

amazing ocean views.foodand decor was average for what you pay. ordered lamb chops with a salad and my lamb chops were unfortunately not too fresh. my partner had oxtail and it was ok

we went there last night for my birthday. beautiful setting and the attention from our waitress was excellent but thefoodwas very average especially considering the cost. the oysters were very good though. wouldn’t be rushing back to eat there anytime soon.

you cannot go wrong with the popular curry buffet which we had upon recommendation by a friend. the service is what you would expect from this reputable 5 star establishment, absolutely spot on. lovely, lovely lovely. if you don't want to go there for thefood(why, what's wrong with you?!), at least go for the sea views, beautiful art from various local artists and bold decor theme that each public room encompasses. luckily for me, i got lost going to the restroom and devoured the elegance up and down the stairs. when we revisit durbs , i am going back for the high tea and i might just get lost again....

people the curry buffet at r450 per person is not worth it?! there are far better indian restaurants at not even half the price. most of the dishes lacked flavour. they offer veg(5/5) and beef(5/5) samoosas, some sort of chilli bite (5/5), butter and garlic naan (5/5), roti, butter chicken (2/5), veg korma (2/5), dhal curry (looked like soup so skipped), lamb curry (5/5), chicken & prawn curry (0/5), fish curry (0/5), mushroom & pea curry (0/5 found hair!!!), beef vindaloo (4/5), butterbean curry (3/5) and potato & bean curry (3/5). there was also a variety of condiments such as atchar, pickled pineapple, sambals, coconut etc. if the flavour of thefoodis as great as the service i would have given a 5 out 5

im a vegetarian, so you already know how my review is going to go. i liked thefoodbut the options were really scarce. i ordered a waldorf salad, which was good. the service, i would like to highlight, was exceptionally great. i think this is one of the very few places where i would love to sit indoors as well, when i normally prefer outdoors. it's a beautiful place.

i had lunch on friday with a party of 12. we started in the lighthouse bar for cocktails, and the service was slow. there was only one barman on duty mixing cocktails, which meant that the drinks were slow to arrive and they all were served at different times. we had lunch at the ocean terrace, and although the setting is world class, the service was again very slow, and thefoodmediocre given the price and 5 star status of the hotel.
