this institution never dissapoints. pricey but worth everycent. the curries are addictive and the ambience is not far back either. make sure you come here whenever you are in durban.

the oyster box never disappoints. from their top class service to their world class menu it’s a place you have to visit not forgetting the amazing views and free sweeties when you leave.

there is no better views for breakfast. this place serve everything and more... oysters, salmon, kebabs, champagne, exotic fruit, nuts and the normal 5 star breakfast!

better to call and make a reservation if you want a good table in the best place to take in the view of the ocean and the lighthouse. old victorian decor in the hotel, love it. had a bow reword pizza, generous portions and lovely staff

an unmatched ocean view paired with a delicious menu. choose from a 10-curry buffet or one of the terraces wood fire oven pizza's. always a treat and must-visit when in umhlanga.

had late lunch with my cousin last week. had the valtellina pizza and a bottle of dg sweet rosé. the pizza was great, enjoyed it. if you’ve ever been to oyster box you know their views are 2nd to none. the ambiance is amazing. the staff was also really friendly. just the resident naughty monkeys were a problem😂😂 . otherwise , great place...a must go when in the area😍

went out to the ocean terrace on saturday night, and was completely blown away. from the exquisite service to the absolutely amazingly plated meals. it's a truly romantic setting that i would definitely be returning to.

very dissapointing. we are currently staying in the hotel which is lovely. the ocean terrace food is however shockingly bad. id say it was one of the worst pizza's i've ever had in my life. at r150 thats just not acceptable. the buns that were served pre dinner mustve been microwaved a few times. they turned rock hard and stale within a minute. the view is great but sadly the food is just terrible

a trip to durban is never complete without having the famous oyster box curry buffet. a bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. they have a variety of different curries in their buffet as well as a full a la carte menu. the atmosphere and decor makes you feel like royalty this is paired with great food and great service. this was not my first time to the oyster box and definitely will not be my last.

i recommend the vermicelli pudding with ice cream, really delicious and to date on of my most favorite deserts ever. perfect combination to end off your meal.

definitely a must for anyone interested in fine dining.

we came for the view and the quality of the food but it was mostly a tourist trap on the terrace grill. for a five star hotel, it was disappointing to have lower than average drinks and average food for twice the average price. the linguine prawn was basic pasta with some small grilled prawn and no esprit, the cocktail special was not even good on second attempt. our waiter was excellent, though. i would come again for the view and have a bottled beer.

sundowner g &t’s cocktails 🍹 on the oyster box rooftop ! spectacular view of the crashing waves below . upmarket atmosphere in this renowned hotel on the umhlanga beach front . lovely selection of drinks and snacks ! i never miss an opportunity to come here when in kzn

a beautiful setting on the kzn coast with sea views and dolphins swimming by! all the food was delicious, especially the sushi which was absolutely fresh. my 4 stars instead of 5 was simply due to my paneer curry being very strong in the heat intensity of the chilli as well as the stodgy chocolate and vanilla cakes we tried for dessert. otherwise, brilliant service (certainly the best service i've experienced in south africa) and an epic setting.

now i have had many breakfast buffets at many hotels, but the experience at the terrace @ oyster box hotel was just next level. i have never in my life seen such a large variety of options. on the first day there i went for the usual bacon and eggs so i didn't have much space for anything else. on day 2, i had everything except bacon and eggs. i had some roast beef, curried lamb kebab, breakfast sirloin, and some curry. they have a pancake and waffle station which my kids loved.

best breakfast and service ever.

best the amazing location next the beach area and the light house, because of eid mubarak, we had a special priced curry buffet. the venue and food it’s self bring you back to time, have you experienced with the luxurious and delicious taste of durban.

the food here is amazing. service is a bit slow. the buffet is highly recommended - the chef is amazing. went for a birthday a few years ago. a lovely setting to relax with family
