overrated with mediocre food is accurate.serviceis also hit or miss, usually tending towards snooty. with so many other incredible restauraunts in boulder, why waste your time here? if you must, hit it up for happy hour then move to brasserie ten ten across the street for a delicious dinner.

while the med is sometimes a little loud, it's one of my go-to restaurants when friends, family, or business associates are in town.

price is midrange for boulder. food is very good.serviceis top notch.

i've been here scores of times and i have never once been disappointed in anything i've eaten.

overall: slow, overly priced, and crowded
pros: kabobs were alright, they text you when your seat is available, and the hummus plate had 3 different types
cons: the food wasn't special; it was not worth the money, servicewas slow, hardly could hear/talk to the host in front since it was so loud, menu was too confusing, my table was too close to someone else so i felt like i was eating dinner with them

an ok experience.. i recently visited denver and my fiancee and i had dinner at the med, after hearing amazing reviews. absolutely a beautiful restaurant, very spacious and even when it's very busy you have all the room you could want.

theservicewas kind of slow and inconsistant, and they refused my fiancee's temporary id because it was out of state...???

the food wasabsolutely wonderful. delicious! however, for the price paid, the portions were way undersized. the dessert we tried was the apple/rum something, and hands down won the game for the med. a reasonably priced dessert item that is to die for. i would recommend going there just for that if nothing else. delicious.

overall, 3.8/5 stars.

disappointing. the second most popular restaurant in colorado according to urbanspoon- what?? as a newbie to colorado, i hope it gets better. suffice to say this was disappointing.

i ordered baked polenta with blue cheese and honey as an appetizer, and yellowfin tuna (medium rare) with horseradish crust for entree. my dining partner - a shrimp tapas to start and steak (medium rare) from the grill menu with vegetables and mash.

both tuna and steak were cooked perfectly. and the polenta was an interesting flavor blend. otherwise, the experience was underwhelming. the entree's were not very warm, the vegetables with the steak were unappealing pieces of steamed broccoli and cauliflower, and the flavors of the tuna just did not 'pop'.

they had an extensive wine list which looked interesting, but given my partner was drinking beer i had to stick to the wine by the glass.

service: the appetizers came out too soon (we had only just started our aperitif drinks) which is irritating but something you can forgive. otherwise theservicewas satisfactory,

i won't be rushing back to the med. what a shame as many of the menu descriptions sounded great... despite the iffy blend of spanish, greek, italian, and french. plus that long wine list did interest me.

a sad story. once upon a time there was a restaurant that everybody called the med. it had a well deserved reputation for putting the happy in happy hour, with tasty tapas and reasonably priced drinks. sure, the noise level was often oppressive and theservicehad that silly inconsistency we come to expect fromservicein boulder, but all in all, it was a great place to sit with friends after work, removing the remnants of the day's toil from one's soul with food, drink and good company. then one day a fancy hotel opened up the block and the med just stopped trying. since the tourists/business people and cu parents didn't seem to care if the food was bland, poorly prepared and slow to arrive, why should the med care?
i have been to the med twice this summer and i will not go back. the food was never sensational, but now it is just plain terrible. this last time the falafel was soggy, cold and bland. (side note: if someone can direct me to some decent falafel in boulder county, please let me know! and don't say falafel king because my friends, the king is dead! but i digress...) we had lamb kabobs -- lamb was ice cold and nearly raw (supposed to be med rare); sent it back, it was returned to the table well done grey and strangely enough, still ice cold. flatbread was stale. paella was a gummy, overcooked mess.
as we left, throngs of people waited on the street outside for a table. i wanted to warn them, but my companion restrained me from doing so. all in all, a very sad story.

variety is the spice of life.... yes, i do believe that variety is the spice of life, and this is why i love the med for tapas! for those of you who don't know what a tapa is, it's a spanish appetizer, that comes out on a small plate, and is meant to be shared (or not, depending on how yummy it is, you may want to keep it all to yourself). also, try the sangria, which is fairly tasty. the food at the med is very good at a great price, and theservicevaries but typically is good...all this make the med one of my favorite places to eat in boulder. oh yeah, great patio in warm weather.
