the place markets it selfs as a winebarwhich is pretty disappointing judging from the poor and very overpriced selection they offer. waitresses are dressed like they are going camping and don't really pay much attention to you. however the food is not bad at all - ok place for a sandwich and a glass of water

a hole in the wall, or rather a door in the block. it caught my attention with a sign post of cheap drinks specials, a knee level sandwich board, and a rotating strobe light in red led. inside, a narrow space with a row of tables and booths on right and swivelling hightop seats by thebaron the left. the mirror at the back of the restaurant gives the illusion that the place is larger than it really is. no decorations, no conversation starters. just seats and shelves for bottles and drinks. be warned everyone here knows the food isn’t good, you come for the cheap drinks and the $3.50 highballs. “white strawberry”. fruli and 1664 blanc. surprised that i could taste this much strawberry. stanley park beer on tap. “potato and cheddar perogies”. topped with spicy caramelized onions and green onions, and topped with sour cream. you can also add chorizo into the mix at cost. they were only slightly better than the frozen perogies you are too lazy to make yourself at home. though it all hones

continuing my exploration of restaurants for pre-show meals in the south granville area, i decided to check out the marquis grill before seeing the great divorce at pacific theatre. as it turned out, there was a canucks game on that evening and the place was jam-packed with hockey fans. when i called for a reservation i was told there was a room at the back away from the tv screens that would be a bit quieter. on arrival we were shown to a comfortable booth in the far side of the restaurant away from thebararea. we could still see the screens and it was pretty noisy but that was fine. when my companion commented that this was hardly away from the game screens, i had to confess that i did not mind keeping up with the action and i actually have an canucks app on my phone that updates the results when a goal is scored. tags dining review marquis grill vancouver restaurant review read more

they need help!. i have been to this restaurant on several occasions and when it first opened it was hit or miss, then it did get a lot better. however, in the past few months it has taken a turn for the worse. the service has gotten a lot slower. my friends and i ordered drinks and we saw the server put them through to thebartender and he picked up the order, looked at it, and continued to talk to the people at thebarinstead of making our drinks. the server was waiting at thebarfor the drinks as well. i was not impressed by this at all, and clearly the server wasn't either. the food was okay, we ordered a few different things. i ordered the burger, which i have ordered before and it was nowhere near as good as it once was. it was bland and tasteless, they must have changed the recipe. my friend ordered the seafood fettucini and it was also bland and tasteless. she has ordered it previously as well. we were very disappointed with the downturn of the marquis, it used to be great place to hang out, the staff were great, drinks and food were good. they have new staff, but they are not as personal and chatty as the others were. this could be a good and bad thing. many times i have gone in and it would be only one or two tables including myself. hopefully things pick up for them because at this rate it is not going well. i don't see them being open for very much longer.
