the majestic

the potroast was moist, flavorful and not too fatty. i chose to leave the horseradish cream off my sandwich and everything still worked out extremely well with each other. the only thing about this meal that lacked were the pommes frites - they were not fried enough, but i didn't need to be eating all that you see below so i wasn't too bummed about it.  the bartender was attentive without being overwhelming and the food was quick and delicious. we were in and out in about 40 minutes which is perfect if you only have an hour for lunch. i asked about the veggie sandwich, and the bartender says he normally turns up his nose at veggie sandwiches, but the combo of roasted veggies and the aioli gets him.  would i come back? yes, now that i know their food is good, i will venture off their speciallunchmenu to their normal menu - duck confit salad anyone?

ladies' lunch:lunchat the bar was amazing. the seafood chowder was chunked full of sea fruits and the soup itself was just delicious. my friend had a giant burger, which she said was tasty and left none for me to sample. our server was attentive and cordial which added to our pleasurable dining experience. the hostess didn't seem so helpful and gave off some airs of oddity and unwelcome vibes that almost made us leave, which is why we opted to sit at the bar. however, we were set on trying this place. will return.

i chose the majestic forlunchbecause while i was looking over menus for places to go, the majestic had three of my all-time favorite ingredients in three different courses. they offered a fried oyster appetizer, a pasta dish with morel mushrooms and a vanilla panna cotta for dessert.

very disappointinglunchon new years eve. my husband and i wanted to celebrate new years with a nice upscalelunchin old town. the menu was sparse, and we ordered what we thought would be much better than the norm steak-and-cheese with caramelized onion sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich. the steak and cheese was greasy and hard to eat and beef a little tough. an average sandwich place could do as well -- and cost $5 instead of $17. my husband's chicken salad wasn't particularly special. the only side we both got was potato chips (maybe of the homemade variety).
we've had some good experiences at majestic in the past, but after today don't plan to return for a $45lunchwith two sub-par uncreative sandwiches. ridiculous.
