what a good meal. we came in late, for us, the place was about 1/2 full. great music selection even better volume. just right. the bartender and waitress, lorainna! were super helpful with bourbon. i had a jefferson flight. awesome. dinner was light, small bites. we had brussels, beet salad, deviled eggs and frites. all were excellent but not even close to the service! lorainna was awesome. if you don’t go for the food go see lorainna.

the food and menu variety were acceptable, the problem was our waiter. he was impatient and very obtuse with us. he gave off the impression that we were keeping him from a more important matter. this resulted in a very unpleasant atmosphere. the straw that broke the camel's back was when he saw it as his prerogative to fill in the customer comment card with 5s for service and overall experience before giving it to us. i have never seen that done before and i hope i never will. i did leave a tip but he by no means earned or deserved it. i highly doubt i will return but if i do i will ask for a different waiter if he is serving me.

alexandria’s majestic cafe is one of those tried and true places that everyone knows about. under new management, it's important you head back to this old town gem!

the potroast was moist, flavorful and not too fatty. i chose to leave the horseradish cream off my sandwich and everything still worked out extremely well with each other. the only thing about this meal that lacked were the pommes frites - they were not fried enough, but i didn't need to be eating all that you see below so i wasn't too bummed about it.  the bartender was attentive without being overwhelming and the food was quick and delicious. we were in and out in about 40 minutes which is perfect if you only have an hour for lunch. i asked about the veggie sandwich, and the bartender says he normally turns up his nose at veggie sandwiches, but the combo of roasted veggies and the aioli gets him.  would i come back? yes, now that i know their food is good, i will venture off their special lunch menu to their normal menu - duck confit salad anyone?

they have vegetarian and gluten free items marked on the menu. excellent renovation of an old diner! good food. lots of choices for the meat and seafood lovers. highly recommend it

i’ve been on a mission since arriving in this area last august to find the best guacamole the city has to offer. however, after pounding the pavement and adding a few more inches to my waistline, i decided i couldn’t compare apples to oranges and have thus decided to divide the district and alexandria on this one. plus, that means i get to rave about even more guacamole. in the coming weeks i hope to tackle arlington as well, but more research has to be done on that one. poor me – such a hard job. the following are the most talked about and tried guac spots in alexandria: los tios (del ray) – this was one of the first spots recommended to us, but one of the last we have tried. though los tios is a fantastic happy hour location and has

we truly enjoyed a fabulous dining experience at the majestic! we were walk in's for an early dinner and we chose the 3 course regal dinner. service was far better that we have experienced in other king street dining establishments. starting with a perfect she crab soup and a table side prepared caesar. followed by meat loaf (always a favorite and was very happy with the flavor and moist texture). the sea food stew was generous and filled with a rich broth filled with a tremendous variety of tender delicacies. we finished with coconut cake and peach cobbler. both were excellent. will be back soon to revel in the majesty of the majestic!!!

inconsiderate verging on dishonest. we arrived at 5 and asked for a table. we were told the dining room wasnt open until 5:30, but we could grab drinks at the bar while we waited, which we did. about 25 mins after we ordered drinks, they told us the next table they had wasnt available until 7:30. maybe just an incompetent hostess, but they did nothing to try to rectify the situation. so definitely not classy. they're probably victims of their own popularity. the cocktails were ok but left a very bitter taste. (figuratively)

if this is some of the finest alexandria has to offer, i dread my future restaurant visits here. for now, i can assure you that i will not be returning to the majestic.

pro/con on the three course. on the pro side, considering the deserts run close to $10, it's a good value on the non-upcharge entrees. downside was that four deserts were one or two too many, and as a couple involved ice cream in some fashion, didn't lend themselves to boxing for later.
ceasar (tableside prep), meatloaf, liver & onions, seafood stew, and whole fish entrees were excellent, with service to match. nice selection of craft beer from local producers.
not as loud inside as i expected, given the close proximity of tables.

my husband and i went to the majestic for my birthday. we went at 6 pm on a sunday night - it wasn't too busy yet. the waitress was inattentive, we had to flag her down a few times, which is never fun. i ordered the chicken piccata, which i could have cooked better myself. the chicken was very over cooked. we ordered mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach as sides - both needed more seasoning. also could have easily made them better myself. i was not impressed with the selection of the dessert menu either. i thought this restaurant was over priced for for the quality of food. disappointed. :-(

overall, our meal at the majestic was a charming delight, filled with a nice variety of delicious, homestyle food that really hit our collective spot. with all due respect to my mom, if chef overmiller ever offers lessons, i may be signing her up. :)

ladies' lunch: lunch at the bar was amazing. the seafood chowder was chunked full of sea fruits and the soup itself was just delicious. my friend had a giant burger, which she said was tasty and left none for me to sample. our server was attentive and cordial which added to our pleasurable dining experience. the hostess didn't seem so helpful and gave off some airs of oddity and unwelcome vibes that almost made us leave, which is why we opted to sit at the bar. however, we were set on trying this place. will return.

it is unbelievably rich yet crisp and bright, with just a splash of heat from the shockingly orange sauce drizzled around the plate. sunshine colored yolk seeps from the fried egg as the first fork hits. we each build the perfect bite: egg, crunchy whipped potato, and green tomato. this is our favorite dish of the night. the mushroom soup follows. it is hearty, earthy, and perfect for a chilly night, but per

great food bad waiter. this was our second time eating at this establishment. we had a wonderful meal on the first visit--and good service, as well. on our second visit we had, by far, bar none, the 100% absolute worst service i have ever had at any restaurant--ever!!! our waiter was rude pass the point of misunderstanding or poor training. we had trouble getting him to take our drink order--25 minutes passed before the first drink order was even taken--then the waiter only took drink orders for half the table. we were never offered another beverage after that---very strange. the entrees were brought to the table at different times for several members of our party. the waiter rolled his eyes and argued with our requests at every turn. it was a struggle with this gent all night--not very relaxing or fun to say the least. the only time there was any sense of urgency was after the desserts came--then we felt rushed. so much can be forgiven if the server has a pleasant attitude. it is too bad as the food was good--very good on both visits. many of the supporting staff were quite nice and helpful. bottom line--never again--not at these prices--not with so many other choices in town. many places have good food and consistently good service. why put yourself through this? get it together majestic!
