wandering in the streets of ortaköy, we decided to stop by the house cafe.
the place is huge, both indoor and outdoor seaside seated areas are available. i definitely recommend the open space area overlooking the bosphorus with beautiful greenery, flowers and plants surrounding you. the place is beautifully set, all white, with different shaped modern chandeliers hanging off the ceiling giving the place a special vibe. you can even find a quiet section for those wanting to just chill. a huge bar is on one side of the place with all sorts and kinds of drinks displayed off the wall.
you are first welcomed by a beautiful hostess guiding you to your desired table.
the service was okay, a bit slow though.
but the food was a huge disappointment.we tried out several items, but almost everything was average, more like “cafe food”.
we started with the marguerita pizza. this one was okay, a basic pizza with a thin, crunchy dough.
we then had their beef/chicken fettuccine. both were average and you could feel a weird aftertaste. chicken noodles on the other hand, was delicious, well seasoned and rich in fresh vegetables and spices.
as for the seafood pasta, it was poorly prepared: mainly boiled pasta and very few shrimps and salmon pieces.
we also tried their chicken burger which was okay, nothing but the average burger you have at any café.
i would recommend this place for a cup of coffee and a light bite by the seaside.
