love the night/supper club!. have now been here twice - for shemekia copeland on april 13 and duke robillard on may 2. although i'm a dancer and bemoan the fact that none of the new venues seem to think a dance floor is important (hello, howard theater), i'm impressed by the quality of the sound, look of the space, large and clean bathroom (a plus for any woman) and generally efficient and attentive staff. the first vist was on a friday night, so there was a crowd lined up on the sidewalk, awaiting entry. a group of young people checked us in with their ipads and gave us our wrist bands. once seated, a server was there within minutes and was able to swipe credit cards (3 couples at a table of 6, so 3 cards) and took our orders. second visit was on a weeknight so there was a much smaller crowd and no waiting. we've tried the lobster rolls (two large ones), firecrackersushiroll (huge!) and meatball pizza. nice selection of beer and wine. i would recommend a short list of specialty cocktails (full bar is available too). this is an upscale place and not inexpensive but i'm glad it's here.

we visited the hamilton while on holidays from australia a few weeks ago. it was a treat for our last night in dc. the staff were great and the food, amazing! thesushiwas fresh and some of the best i’ve had. hubby enjoyed the fried mozzarella starter and meatloaf main, and the scallops risotto was to die for. the cocktails went down a treat too. the exterior is quite deceiving, you don’t realise just how huge the restaurant really is. great ambience and not too noisy considering the size of the dining room. absolutely loved it!

i’ve frequented this place the last few times that i’ve visited washington d.c. and i enjoy it every time. the breakfast menu definitely shakes things up especially with the burrito that practically made for hangovers even named after it. the apple pancakes are a great last morning in dc breakfast. there’s nothing the compares to crispy cornmeal crusted catfish on a bun at 1am. the late nightsushiis pretty good too. the service is on point no matter the time of day. it’s another cool upscale restaurant just like the other restaurants (clyde’s & old ebbitt grill) in clyde’s restaurants group.

decided to try the hamilton as we had parked just down the street at the ronald raegan building prior to our capital steps show. so glad we decided to try this. the staff, khendra was excellent in providing us with all the details and all around service. half bottles of wine were reasonably priced and my martini was excellent. all of us were pleased with our selections, my rib eye was cooked perfectly as ordered and fantastic. wife loved her scallops and daughter thoroughly enjoyed her beefsteak blt. for yousushilovers, they have asushihappy hour everyday between 3pm-6pm and 11pm to close. also have concerts in their downstairs that we didn't visit on this trip. we'll be back!

wow! what a wonderful experience! the cheese board (we opted to try 3 varieties) is the best in flavour and value that i've ever had at a restaurant. served with walnut raisin bread and a simpler crusty bread, in addition to a house-made fruit chutney and a sweet, nutty chutney. we picked types of cheese that we wouldn't find easily at home: black and blue, goat cheese (maryland); cabot clothbound, cow cheese (vermont); and red row, raw cow cheese (virginia). all three were delicious!

the southern fried chicken (sandwich) was nothing short of amazing - and they use hormone and antibiotic free, humanely raised chicken. the rosemary truffle frites were also a winner. my dining partner also gave a thumbs up to the pulled pork sandwich.

we're definitely going back on our trip, as they also have a great lineup of live entertainment!*

*thesushiserved in the music venue (lower level) wasn't impressive, and the same cheeseboard i raved about earlier (while still excellent) was served with less amount of bread and chutney than what is served in the main restaurant. they should ensure that the dishes are consistent between the two spaces for a seamless experience.

great service, sushiand show. the hamilton was a last minute decision. just wanted a "me" evening. it was great! my server, charnise (sp) aka beyonce was very pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable about not only the menu but the wines. wow! she selectedsushifor me and i must say the choices were excellent! i opened a bottle of wine, another great choice, and had a few to many bags (shopping also was part of the "me" day). staff assisted me downstairs, got me set up and my server downstairs was also excellent. the hamilton will definitely see me again and again.

the brunch menu, unfortunately, is not served 24 hours, but only on saturdays and sundays during normal brunch hours. but they do allow you to order from thesushimenu during brunch hours, as well, which is a nice option. though you hardly need to venture off the core brunch—as i said earlier, the menu is enormous.

by samantha grieder capital cooking contributor it's 8:30 in the morning and there's already jazz musicians playing on stage. it's fitting, considering the fact that this is a 24/7 operation. located downtown near metro center, the hamilton is a recently opened venture by the clyde's restaurant group . it's food. it's music. and it's, in a word, impressive. there's a whopping 37,000 square feet of space to fill, but it's well appointed. the main dining area, at street level, is where you'll find space for 500. booths near the windows have doors that can close off for a more intimate setting. statues of storks decorate the restaurant. they seem delicate in the midst of such a large space. there also happens to be asushibar on this floor, a sign that the hamilton is offering more than just burgers. early on a monday morning, most of d.c. is making its way into the office than here for breakfast. but, unexpectedly, it's not at a standstill. guests are slowly entering the doors of the ha
