it is a monster. lots of seats and a music venue. open 24x7. serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sushi! the picture above is of their stairs leading down to the music venue. i hadn't seen these lit up before. very cool. strangely enough, it doesn't have a cavernous vibe as you might expect in something this big. they broke this restaurant into many small sections and bars in order to keep it feeling intimat

love the night/supper club!. have now been here twice - for shemekia copeland on april 13 and duke robillard on may 2. although i'm a dancer and bemoan the fact that none of the new venues seem to think a dance floor is important (hello, howard theater), i'm impressed by the quality of the sound, look of the space, large and clean bathroom (a plus for any woman) and generally efficient and attentive staff. the first vist was on a friday night, so there was a crowd lined up on the sidewalk, awaiting entry. a group of young people checked us in with their ipads and gave us our wrist bands. once seated, a server was there within minutes and was able to swipe credit cards (3 couples at a table of 6, so 3 cards) and took our orders. second visit was on a weeknight so there was a much smaller crowd and no waiting. we've tried the lobster rolls (two large ones), firecracker sushi roll (huge!) and meatball pizza. nice selection of beer and wine. i would recommend a short list of specialty cocktails (full bar is available too). this is an upscale place and not inexpensive but i'm glad it's here.

after a day of wandering the sights, we realized it was past closing time for most restaurants (on sundays in our town, everything is done by 8pm, 9 at the latest!). after a quick search and a brief phone call, we found ourselves at the hamilton. what a treasure! from start to finish, everything was amazing. our server, dimitri (sorry if i butchered your name!), was the best, helpful with recommendations and always around when we needed him. their crab bisque and tuna tartar were pure heaven. i had the crab cake as a sandwich with the sweet potatoes fries. it was amazing. my fiancé had the soft shell crab sandwich and loved his too. and this was all after 10 pm, on a sunday! the have sangria on their drink menu right now that is delicious and refreshing! it was such a fabulous end to our night. i will definitely be back!

awesome sushi! and happy hour is 1/2 off. drinks were great! only wish they had a happy hour drink menu. everything we had was exceptionally delicious. just came from a week in nyc and this topped all of the outrageous expensive restaurants we went to.

the hamilton in washington dc is conveniently located, with great food from salad to entree and dessert and reasonable prices. sushi too and a great bar. andrew our waiter was wonderfully knowledgeable about the menu and wine lists. a relaxed, delightful evening.

we visited the hamilton while on holidays from australia a few weeks ago. it was a treat for our last night in dc. the staff were great and the food, amazing! the sushi was fresh and some of the best i’ve had. hubby enjoyed the fried mozzarella starter and meatloaf main, and the scallops risotto was to die for. the cocktails went down a treat too. the exterior is quite deceiving, you don’t realise just how huge the restaurant really is. great ambience and not too noisy considering the size of the dining room. absolutely loved it!

the ambiance is great here but very lively and hard to hear folks sitting next to you. the food was good and the costs are okay. they specialize in sushi, but it was okay. no prime cuts of beef but the tenderloin was good.

i’ve frequented this place the last few times that i’ve visited washington d.c. and i enjoy it every time. the breakfast menu definitely shakes things up especially with the burrito that practically made for hangovers even named after it. the apple pancakes are a great last morning in dc breakfast. there’s nothing the compares to crispy cornmeal crusted catfish on a bun at 1am. the late night sushi is pretty good too. the service is on point no matter the time of day. it’s another cool upscale restaurant just like the other restaurants (clyde’s & old ebbitt grill) in clyde’s restaurants group.

this is by far one of the best restaurants i've been to in dc. their menu is extensive, particularly the late night menu. they have reasonably priced snacks and meals that won't break the bank. they also serve full blown entrees, sandwiches, and sushi. there's something for everyone on the menu. our server was integral to the meal, who gave us plenty of recommendations for the menu. he also gave us recommendations of places to eat in the city and in annapolis. he had a plethora of knowledge and was a joy to talk to. everything we ordered per his recommendation was fantastic. i had the cornbread grilled cheese with jam and a cup of shrimp bisque soup. the two complimented each other so nicely, the soup creamy and sweet to the savory cornbread. my brother had the district wings with mumbo sauce, which was massive. the breading on the wings were good, but the mumbo sauce made the dish. we couldn't get enough of the d.c. speciality! it was house made, and you could definitely taste the difference! for dinner, my brother has the crab cake sandwich with slaw and fries. that was by far the freshest crab cake, or crab period, i've ever had. it tasted as if it was caught that morning. we dipped it in the soup and it added an entire other layer of complexity to the sandwich, which we loved. for the quality of food, this restaurant is a must go to! the elegant decor of the hotel can be a bit off putting for the casually dressed at first, but the late night crowd is far more laid back than during the day.

the hamilton is the place to satisfy all your cravings. sushi? burgers? steaks? seafood? you'll find it all there. it's a huge restaurant and it has a performance stage downstairs.

decided to to try this place saturday morning. we were a party of four with the 4th person arriving late which we told the hostess and our waiter. the doughnuts were cold and so was the lobster bisque. the waiter would disappear after dropping of our food so it quickly became frustrating trying to track him down. when our 4th member did arrive she wasn't offered a place setting, a drink order or even given the daily specials for that matter. when he finally returned with our warmed food she interjected that she'd like a coffee and to see a menu. the manager katie stopped by the table and was gracious in addressing our concerns however i don't think this went over well with our waiter as for the next 10 minutes we watched them in discussion across the room as he looked up and shot us the occasional glare. he returned to our table to collect our checks with an even poorer attitude. never returning to this place again. too many awesome restaurants in dc to settle for poor service.

i had dinner at the hamilton with a work colleague (we're both from out of town). someone had recommended the hamilton, and it was very close to our hotel.

to start, we had a cheese platter with three cheeses and some prosciutto. all of it was amazing. there were also generous amounts of two kinds of bread, lightly toasted, which perfectly complemented the cheese and meat.

my colleague had roast chicken for dinner, which he seemed to enjoy, but he wasn't crazy about the sauce. i had a pasta primavera dish which was very, very good, but too big a portion after the cheese platter.

the ambiance was very nice and even as the place filled up later in the evening, it wasn't too loud or too crowded. overall, a very nice experience and i would definitely return.

this place is a dc crown jewel! the bar and restaurant have very elegant bronze chandeliers everywhere. the dining area has signed art work and bronze and marble chandeliers. the staff are incredibly polite and very helpful. i've eaten here with friends every month and love this place. you can even reserve booths that have french doors to close off the restaurant if you want privacy. i've never seen that before, and i think that's a grand idea whoever installed those!

decided to try the hamilton as we had parked just down the street at the ronald raegan building prior to our capital steps show. so glad we decided to try this. the staff, khendra was excellent in providing us with all the details and all around service. half bottles of wine were reasonably priced and my martini was excellent. all of us were pleased with our selections, my rib eye was cooked perfectly as ordered and fantastic. wife loved her scallops and daughter thoroughly enjoyed her beefsteak blt. for you sushi lovers, they have a sushi happy hour everyday between 3pm-6pm and 11pm to close. also have concerts in their downstairs that we didn't visit on this trip. we'll be back!
