the grill jichana - elangeni & maharani

an absolutely stunning experience! one of the best steaks i've had in a long time. ambience was great andserviceexcellent. a bit on the pricey side but worth it....great for a date night. perfect combination of intimacy and sophistication.

i had a great experience making a reservation and even recieved reminder sms's and emails closer to the date. we ordered the lamb shank with mash and root vegetables and the grilled duck with mash. just to note, by root veggies, they mean parboiled asparagus, onion and carrot (i'm not a fan of asparagus and chunky peels of onions so i could not appreciate this). the duck was cooked really well and had an aromatic, spicy crumb. the place was beautiful and theservicewas great.

excellent dining experience. we had the lamb shank which was perfectly cooked. the other meal was a surf 'n turf 300g rump and 4 medium sized prawns enjoyed with the best pepper sauce i have had yet. the steak was a good one and was also perfectly cooked. the chocolate fondant was exceptional and i looked jealously over my ice cream and chocolate sauce at it.servicewas fantastic. the price including the bottle of merlot was r750 which while being on the high side was worth it. our second visit here did not disappoint.

let me start by saying my husband and i are dessert freaks 😁. so what made us choose the grill jichana was most definitely the chocolate bomb dessert. we received goodserviceand our waiter was very friendly and, although a bit confused with us ordering dessert first and then a meal, very efficient and helpful. to me the ambience was very upscale but felt a tad bit too "dark" for my personal taste.
no doubt we ordered the chocolate ball dessert and it was just fantastic. the theatre about it puts it in a league of its own for sure. watching the chocolate melt away under the warm chocolate sauce is enough to get you licking your lips. the berries and ice cream balances the dish out a bit as well so it doesn't come across too sweet, although i would suggest a few more fresh berries. as our meal we had burgers and the patty was of a good quality and you could taste the love that only comes with home made burger patties and it paid off. had a lot of flavour.
i would recommend this establishment to couples going out for a romantic meal ie anniversary dinner or the like. you and your partner will be very well looked after and leave having been well fed and happy 🙂

this place is amazing! i really enjoyed myself. we had the cheese board as a starter which was excellent i had the lamb shank and my other half had a mushroom sauce fillet steak which was a 10/10
we had the chocolate ball desert which was mouth watering but left us with a sugar high. theserviceis great and the food is fantastic! deff a must try

eaten here a number of times and the food andserviceis consistent and always a pleasure.

this steakhouse does an excellent salmon dish with great fresh sides. they have chips called bafana chips that are total heaven. crispy on the outside and fluffy inside.

they have great special aged meat cuts available. classic black and white bistro environment makes this a great night out.

as a starter the seared steak salad with citrus dressing is a fresh and perfect start to a meal.

we got to experience the brilliantserviceat the grill jichana - elangeni and maharani recently, whilst on holiday. they should have moved my hotel bed to the actual restaurant, because after eating their delicious food, i was ready to be rolled out of there. stunning ambience, excellent customer care, and the food was truly outstanding. we had a three course meal, and they were super accommodating of our little one as well. the chef went out of his way to prepare something customised for her, and it really made our dining experience special. kudos to the staff, @tsogosun management and the chef, for making this a more than 5 star restaurant. highly recommend if you're hosting a private celebration, or a family dinner. i will be back. ps. order the lamb shank :) thank you guys loved it!

the ambience is amazing and everything is so beautiful to look at it. we got free sherry at the door andservicewas excellent. we ordered the roast chicken, lamb kebabs and veggie dish and was all devine. they also gave us a special small birthday cake for my sister's birthday! very special place!

like my steak, down in durbs on business and i was in steak mood. the decor is great, upmarket steak house feel andservicewas excellent from both the waitron and the manager. the t bone was out of stock, or not of the correct quality to offer as the waitron pointed out, so i had the black angus 300g medium rare. the steak was good but i prefer a thicker cut as opposed to the thinner broader cut they offer. their sauces were not your regular sa offerings, a plus, and they also offer flavored butters, i had their specialty the jichana chef jus. it was very different, for me, to have a jus on a steak in a steakhouse, but it was very good, you could taste the extreme effort that had been put into making that jus, very rich but superb in small doses. the had craft beer, another plus, a good meal overall,

i am very impressed with this restaurant in the sense that they mostly serve free range meat and chicken.  the decor is not too my liking as it is way too dark and always very icy cold.  the waiters are extremely, extremely friendly and it comes to them very naturally so they obviously like what they do.  theserviceis very good.  my husband had the lamb ribs which he said was very tasty.  i had the free range rump and it was done as i asked and the pepper sauce was also very nice.  for desert we always take the ‘chocolate bomb’ which is i think white chocolate mousse in a chocolate ball, then they pour on hot chocolate sauce and the whole thing just melts.   so i will definitely visit this restaurant again.
the only thing that annoyed me is that they don’t allow kids under 10.  even after reading this we still took a chance and the lady very politely explained to us that if we our child behaves and not be a nuisance he could join us.  i wondered if they asked the group of very loud drunken men a few tables from us the same thing? as my child was as quiet as a mouse while this table was being noisy.  just to show you, not all kids run around and not all adults are well behaved.
