palate cleanser: pinotage rose sorbet & a microgreen salad
maine course: 21 day aged sirloin, cold smoked over ground coffee grilled and topped with vanilla butter
dessert: homemade chocolate brownies served with popcorn ice cream & salted caramel sauce

what a wonderful evening! at first i wasn't to eager to visit the godfather. it honestly didn't sound like the type of place that'll cater for a vegetarian. my boyfriend finally convinced me and i was very pleasantly surprised. the restaurant's decor is very classy and welcoming. theservicewas friendly and warm. and they have vegetarian options! had haloumi covered in balsamic reduction for a starter. i had a massive vegetarian platter for my main which had an exceptional broccoli quiche and grilled feta cheese salad with veggie skewers. my boyfriend had an apparently fantastic chilli chocolate steak and we shared a chocolate mousse for dessert. we're both mad about the godfather and will definitely visit again soon.

my husband & i went there on a date. this was my second time at the godfather. and i must say wow! i have never had betterserviceat any other restaurant. the way the waiter treated us made us feel like royalty. and wow- talk about value for money. we both ordered spare ribs with hot vegetables. food was ready within 10-15 minutes. i ate 2 ribs and a fifth of my vegetables and took the rest home as a take-away. big portions & great value for money!

we had the most amazing time at the godfather! the food was amazing, theservicewas great, the staff is informed and well trained. well done guys you have a top notch restaurant! 🔥🔥

i had the chocolate chilli fillet for main and it was delicious!

i do however feel that the food is overpriced. the menu is also a bit old fashioned.

in 1991, steve and janet kobrin became the owners of the godfather and along with the help of chris swanepoel, starting grilling steaks together.  yesterday, i frequented the godfather for the first time, and with its accolade of wolftrap steakhouse legend of the year 2017 and cult following of years, i was optimistic about what we would experience. 

location, location, location:
on my first visit yesterday, it may have been that i arrived on 'black friday' when traffic was at an all time high or the fact that the godfather's parking was non-existant, but after three trips around the block in the hot sun (manoeuvring the different one way streets), in frustration, i called janet at their reception. thirty minutes late, and after janet's recommendation, i managed to find a parking in the centurion mall parking lot behind the building itself.

service: 
janet was at the door, looking efficient and soon directed me through to our table of six, where we experienced a combination ofserviceby cocky laney and a very sweet reinhoudt, who we managed to order both our drinks and meals from promptly enough without issue.

basic hygiene:
mid-meal i got up to go to the ladies, only to find that in not one, but both ladies toilets there was not even a shred of toilet paper. fairly awkward at such an expensive restaurant to have to mention that none of their ladies toilets have toilet paper and surely before (or even during) the lunch rush, this is a simple fundamental to check.  

food:
and this is where the wheels fell off.. i ordered the fillet medallions (2 x 100g fillet medallions topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon trout and caper vinaigrette) medium rare. i come from a family of three generations of cattle farmers so a well-prepared steak paired with a glass of red wine should be a winning combination. 
my steak arrived, covered with a generous helping of cream cheese but i soon realised that it was more charcoal than medium rare and very tough, which was confirmed after scraping off the topping. at this stage, (and after considering sending it back) i decided to just eat the onion rings and enjoy my red wine.

we got the bill and its safe to say that i wont be returning.

roccomama shmoccomama. this place knows what a burger is about. just one burger needed to fill a very empty tummy. not like other places where the burgers are so minute you need 3 to feel satisfied.serviceis fast and the waiters are friendly enough. will be back of that i am sure.

we haven't been to the godfather for years and decided to go there last night with a group of friends! from outside the place doesn't look like much but inside a different story. the welcome was warm and friendly, the staff made sure we were happy and we sure were! theservicewas really good, our waiter was so friendly, efficient and helpful. i just love the vibe, decor and ambiance of the place. everyone ordered different dishes and all the food came out delicious. it's like i remember it long ago and will go back to visit the godfather again.

a mandatory stop for me whenever i visit gauteng from cape town. i love their rump steaks and always enjoy it with a half share biltong and blue cheese sauce, accompanied by a good red wine.serviceis always friendly and professional.

it's an unexpected gem for centurion...the food is delicious and theserviceis great. the house red is also worth a try along with a juicy steak

definitely a great restaurant with great food. very pricey though. theservicewas good, but the food was excellent. not stingy on the drinks sizes either.

if you're looking for a fantastic steakhouse in centurion, you can't go wrong with the godfather. theserviceis awesome, and the food is even better. their steaks are perfectly prepared and even their seafood is excellent! their broad offering of magic cocktails also helps make for a fantastic meal. you've got to try the 'sticky fingers' shooter to end off your meal - it's a must!

my first memory of the godfather was when my dad used to drag us with on business trips to pretoria - and his treat to us was dinner here :)  steak is obviously their speciality and they do it so well!  the carpetbagger (old school is cool!) is delicious, as well as the chocolate chili fillet - you must try it.  not a lot of vegetarian and 'healthy' options, but they do have a good selection of seafood and a few salads.  defiinitely works very well as a special occassion restaurant with greatserviceand a good wine selection.

excellent,excellent,excellent...food,service and vibe. some of the best ribs and steaks around. theserviceis great with well trained waiters always just a armslength away. this is one steak restaurant that should be on your bucketlist,no doubt. love it. oh and the desserts are also awesome,so leave some space for some.

when you've been going to a restaurant since your youngest child was still in a carrycot, you know it must be excellent!  janet and steve run a friendly, high-quality restaurant with magnificent steaks andserviceand a great wine list.  my favourites?  new york cut sirloin with monkeygland sauce and halva icecream for dessert.
