the grind is found on burke street in surry, a little bit towards taylor square from the beresford. an airy spot the café does a good job with its corner location, making the inside feel quite outside. grabbing a seat was not a huge problem as burke street cafes go into chilled mode on sundays. i was quickly greeted with bothmenuand bottle of water and glass. i followed the order of the guys beside me and got a piccolo latte. the coffee was quick in its appearance an

cute cafe churning out a breakfast and lunchmenuwith a turkish spin.

loving the turkish coffee and batch brew on moccamaster with single origin beans. turkish coffee is strong however it doesn't have that after taste like espresso has. highly enjoyed. comes with turkish delight.

if you're looking for a place for breakfast and you're sick of all the standard cafes, try this one out. i had a factory benedict here with turkish sausage (full of spice) on arepas (like polenta) with poached eggs and hollandise. i've never had a dish like this before. it was interesting and i quite enjoyed it. also had their shaksuka which is loaded with veggies!

they have an extensivemenuso there's something for everyone. there's indoor and outdoor seating. sit outside for some sun or feel the vibes inside.

polished off brekky with kanafeh, a sweet dish (dessert made with thin noodle-like pastry).

i need to go back for their chai and hot chocs!

great cafe with a young and trendy vibe.
seating is available inside and outside.
they are open 7 days a week and open from 6am so perfect for the early risers :)
theirmenuis quite extensive and you can see a turkish touch on their dishes. all dishes are available all day.
first dish we had was the factory benedict. definitely not your ordinary benedict. it’s better! i love the turkish veal sucuk. it’s tasty with a little bit of spiciness.
first time trying the ‘bread’ (arepas) and it’s quite unique and delightful. and the hollandaise tied everything just beautifully.
then i had the kafte burger. wow. first of all, the burger looks epic with that eccentric charcoal brioche. the brioche is soft, bouncy and yum! the highlight is definitely the homemade chunky lamb kafte. juicy and flavoursome. i love the whole turkish touch on this burger. distinctively tasty flavours. served with sweet potato chips that are crispy and delish!
we finished with the coffee. i love it. strong and aromatic (from de luca). overall we had an enjoyable dining experience.

brunch. returned to the factory grind this week. we sat outdoors to enjoy the cool breeze and a spot of people-watching. i had high hopes for the panne cook which sounded great on themenu(eggs baked in brioche with smoked salmon, spinach, mushrooms and parmesan) - unfortunately, it didn't quite deliver. presentation was cute with the eggs baked in two hollowed-out brioches with the other fillings nestled underneath. however, the whole dish was rather bland and dry - an extra element like sauce or salsa would've made a huge difference. the eggs were also cooked a tad too long so no gooey yolks to double up as sauce. the spanish-style eggs were much better and there was plenty of sauce to mop up with the sourdough. the best order we had that day though, was the pulled pork sandwich on the lunch menu. a panini packed with tender shreds of pork, slightly spicy thanks to the chipotle and complemented by a refreshing slaw. great flavours and i'd definitely order that again. good coffees and friendly service as expected.

thumbs way way up. the factory grind is a lovely little cafe that ticks all the boxes: tasty food, good coffee and friendly service. the croque douche seemed to be a cross between a croque monsieur and eggs benny with jamon serrano, gouda and poached eggs on toast with a white sauce. classic flavours done well, it was a richly satisfying dish. we also enjoyed the daily special of sourdough topped with semi-dried tomatoes, feta, smoked salmon and a poached egg. the pine nut pesto gave it extra oomph. we'll definitely be back to try the rest of the interesting menu. the panne cook has my name on it!
