the duke

i went into the duke on mother’s day for a meal, everyone who had the carvery was happy with their meal but anyone whoorderedoff the regular menu was let down.. the garlic pizza is always lovely but the “duke burger” wasn’t very nice, the cheese was cheap supermarket cheese from a packet, the beef didn’t taste very nice and the chips were old or had been left out for a long time. the gammon was fatty and looked more like pulled pork or a boiled bit of ham , the chips were also the same with being old and left out. the staff are always sweethearts and super happy to help though. one of the meals was sent back and was replaced free of charge.

good place for a quick local feed and if you go on the right day, half price pizzas. i went with my wife not long ago andorderedmore than we could even begin to finish. with drinks, $69.00. quality of food is good for pub/bar food, waitresses are very friendly and attentive. place is improving day by day!

terrible! we have been a few times before and each time it has been quite good however this time weorderedthere was over an hour wait for the food to come out. my partner and 2 othersorderedsurf and turf which was terrible. as soon as the food was served the smell of the pawns was like off seafood and they were not edible at all. no one at the table ate them and when we brought it to the staffs attention we were told that was what the prawns were supposed to taste like. the smell of the pawns put everyone at the table off their food for the rest of the meal. the other meals were average at best. will definately not be returning again.

went to the duke a couple of sundays ago.orderedthe roast pork, order was taken then waiter returned 5 mins later to say they've run out of pork and only have beef available so opted for the beef. so the roast comes out, looks good, well presented. but it stops there, the "roast" beef was heated on the char grill which obviously gave a charred flavor and there was a piece of rare rump steak on the bottom to obviously bulk up the small portion of roast beef they had left. rump steak was over aged in cryovac so gave a very aged taste and smell.orderedsquid for entree which was great as always. seen they've been advertising for chefs recently on seek so will give them another chance in a month or so when they settle in.

what a disappointing night for us food was rubbish!orderedbuttermilk drumsticks which were blunt as with a very thick coating which was crumbling all over the place. it didn't end there the main meals were worse linguine pasta was blunt with off tasting tomatoes, the pork belly was disgusting we regretted coming here considering it's not cheap.

we had a late lunch here on a saturday and thought it was great! the staff were really nice and the food was delicious! i had the lamb shoulder with mash and broccolini and the lamb literally melted in your mouth. my wifeorderedthe sliders and they were equally tasty! well worth checking this place out, i'll definitely be returning!

the duke for breakfast was a nice experience but had a bit to improve on.

most importantly was the wait time from ordering breakfast to having the plates on the table.
30 minute wait with a floor with about 12 people at the tables. so it wasn't busy by any standards.
the salmon and bacon dish was lovely, large serve of smoked salmon and i alsoorderedextra pouched eggs, which were cooked well.
my wife had the salmon and egg benedict. she enjoyed very much so and couldn't finish off the dish.
plus the coffees we purchased were a bit small for a full price of $4.00 for a latte.

minor improvements to be made but very much a nice experience. will be returning to try the lunch and pint in the future.

and we were surprised by huge improvement!
weorderedthe meat board and were amazed by the serving size and variety of different meats that came with the dish

to finish off we had the sticky date pudding, which is always a safe bet

i’ve been to this place many times now and it is now one of my favourite pubs to go for lunch and dinner! the menu has improved greatly as has the quality of food, i love the lamb shanks and fish and chips, also have a great cocktail menu. the staff are always awesome, my parents love this place so get taken her for many family lunch outings.

love the look and feel of this pub, outdoor area is much bigger than i thought! i came here for lunch with my parents after some of their friends recommend it. my mum and i bothorderedthe pulled beef tacos and a bowl of wedges to share, and my dadordereda pie which came with mash and mushy peas. the tacos were okay, but nothing to rave about. i enjoyed the pulled beef but there was definitely not enough flavour, they need to add some kind of salsa. sadly the wedges were a huge let down. the first few i ate tasted fine but then i realised the majority of them were a bit burnt. i felt it was too late to ask for a replacement as i had already eaten some. my dad enjoyed the pie and mash, and was impressed as the portion was huge!! his only complaint was the peas had mint in them which he doesn't like, but he still ate them anyway. after i'd finished eating iordereda mocha which was really good! the staff were very friendly and came over a few times to offer drinks and ask if everything was okay. i will definitely be coming back to give this place another chance, as i think they will improve.

went for a sunday afternoon drink & a small bite to eat.orderedfrom the bar menu. told there would be  40+ minute wait for food. we both ended up ordering pulled beef brisket tacos. now the word here is "pulled beef brisket". as you can see from the picture i've posted that's not what we got. disappointed by the overall look of these tacos. what we got was some thinly sliced rubbery rump roast. no sign of pulled beef brisket on either of our plates! there was no mexican flavours on these tacos. chef, sour cream & a couple slices of chills doesn't cut it. lift your game. presentation of the tacos was sad looking. the chef should take more pride in the food he/she is sending out. 
the actual venue is small & quaint, but meets all the needs for a pub setting. 
unsure if i'll bother going back. overall a very meh experience.
